Norwegian Getaway Ship Tour (2019)

- Watch a tour of Norwegian Getaway. Getaway is a Breakaway-class ship from Norwegian Cruise Line that was launched in 2014.
In Norwegian style, there are 26 dining options, 22 bars and lounges, 24-hour room service, and a ton of shopping found on Norwegian Getaway. This is also one of the ships that have the Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville at Sea.
What makes Getaway unique is the Illusionarium magic and dinner show that is held on certain nights of the cruise, also Wine Lovers, The Musical is held in the same venue.
Tour Norwegian Joy: • Norwegian Joy Tour (2019)
Norwegian Getaway has The Haven, which is the complete ship-within-a-ship concept that allows guests to have their own pool area, lounge, and dining room.
The only issue people take with Getaway is the casino. Because it's located within Ocean 678 on deck 7, the smoke drifts up to deck seven and down to deck six. Other than that, the ship gets great reviews.
This is the perfect ship for solo cruisers because of the studio rooms and the studio lounge.
The Miami Dolphin's Cheerleaders are the godmother of this ship.
Norwegian Getaway will spend the Summer 2019 sailing from Northern Europe before repositioning to New Orleans to sail Caribbean sailings.

What do you think of Norwegian Getaway?
i love this ship i have sailed on this ship twice
Cruising Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea July 2019.
Cruising in the North of Europe next August. So excited!!!
Hey Doug! Sailing on her for the first time this November. It'll be interesting after the Epic, the Escape, the Sun and the Bliss! Excited about the updates to Spice (since the Encore won't have one).
Cursing the 1st of October in Mediterranean
So much more clear and concise than so many videos. Some ramble on showing too many small details (like opening every drawer in a cabin) Great job.
Thanks, bud. My goal is to do the exact opposite of them. Appreciate your support.
Love your tour videos! Perfect length and adequately cover the highlights!
I appreciate the compliments! Thank you for watching.
We will be on this Norwegian Getaway Dec 27 - Jan 5, 2022. First time cruising since Covid. Enjoyed your overview of the ship layout and amenities. Very informative.
Yay love the ship tours! And I love the art work on the front of the ship
Thanks for watching.
Sailed on The Breakaway last Decembert and loved it. On the Getaway in March 2020. Since it's essentially The Breakaway's twin, I know I'll love this one.
What is your favorite part about the Breakaway? Thank you for watching.
Best thing I was impressed with was the Waterfront ... a exterior walkway around the perimeter of deck 8 restaurants, clubs etc.
Great quick video. Very informative. Thanks.
I appreciate the compliment. Thanks for watching.
Getawaaaaaaaaaaay 😭😭😭 my very first cruise experience was this ship and I LOVED it!
Nice. What was your favorite part about the trip? Thank you for watching.
No problem! I loved the sheer size and flexibility. The food too; I didn’t get the speciality package but I was particularly fond with Shanghai’s Noodle Shop. The water slides and pool were awesome too. I’m going on Norwegian Sky next month, fingers crossed it’ll be good!
Update; I went on Sky last month and loved it, but it wasn't as big or comprehensive as Getaway... Still enjoyed it tho and I put a video on my channel of my experience on the islands... I'd appreciate if you checked it out!
I love your tour! Thx a lot. We have just reserved our cruise for December 31 2022 from New York. We're super excited! :)
Thx again
Thank you!
The wings are phenomenal!
Great video. Thanks for sharing this. Helped us decide!
I appreciate the compliment. So you decided on the Getaway? Thank you for watching.
Beautiful ship. Thanks for the tour! Leaving on the Getaway in Sept! ✈️🛳⚓️🏖🏝
Very cool. Let me know what you think after you sail.
I'm going to work on this ship tomorrow! Thanks for the sneak peak! :-D
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Have a great cruise. Thank you for watching.
Todd are you still on the Getaway?
Luv the tour! Going on it April 5th with friends !!
Fun. What's the itinerary for your trip? Thank you for watching.
Thanks for this wonderful video, now I can dream & visualise our European cruise in June 2020💕😍
Glad I could help. What's the itinerary for your trip? Thank you for watching.
June 7 Italy and Greece? I'll be there!
Wow! Went on the ship on February 23 this year. It is nice to see all the specs of the ship which I never found on the cruise.
Very detailed and nice to see this ship again as it is the only cruise ship I’ve been on.
Nice video. Thank you
What was the itinerary for your trip? Thanks for watching.
Cruise Radio February 23- March 4th out of Miami. Stopped in Honduras somewhere else and two places in Mexico.
Thanks for responding! It means a lot and shows dedication to your channel, earned a sub
Of course! I'm honored to have you as a new subscriber.
Oh I went in 2017 August around the Baltic
Live to cruise on the Getaway. Haven't been on a cruise in many years. Looks great!
Booking this ship for the 10 night r/t Rome in June 2021. First time on NCL so we are excited. Hoping the Family OV room will be big enough for the 4 of us!
That sounds amazing! Have you looked into what you want to see or do in Rome? Get ready for some delicious pizzas, pastas, and pastries! Thank you for watching.
Thank you so much for doing this review. My challenge on reviews is usually focused on the Cabin Category I choice and approaching the benefits and perks on having a great time. My wife and I are going on the Getaway, out of New Orleans in November 2019. We are staying in a Haven Spa Suite. Later on in June next year, we are on the NCL Pearl cruising Canada with a Haven 2-bedroom Suite for the 5 people in my family. What made your video so great was it was complete. Thank you again. It is not easy doing these video's. Be well.
I really appreciate the compliments. I do my best. You have some great trips coming up. Do you have a particular ship that you like the most? Thank you for watching.
I'm going November 2019 Thanksgiving week! Cant wait! Ive been on the Pearl and Sky. I enjoyed the Sky a little bit more than the Pearl.
@Gary Tilkin, how were the cruises, did you post any videos?
Planning to sail her in August 2020. Very helpful tour
I'm glad it helped. What's the itinerary for your trip? Thank you for watching.
its almost a year when e cruise the ncl getaway tours. fantastic tours.... me and my husband wish to cruise again after the pandemic.
What was the best part about your tours? Thank you for watching.
Could you please tell me how is the food in this ship? We cruised celebrity silhouette in Dec 2019 and the food was horrendous
I’m looking to book this for me and my adult daughter for next year (2023) and it does look lots of fun.
Nice! Thanks for watching. Stay safe!
Sailing in Jan 2020 out of New Orleans, stopping in Cozumel and Costa Maya. Any excursion ideas? First cruise. And secondly I'm thinking the Brazilian restaurant and Japanese restaurant onboard as I have I believe 2 passes to some of the restaurants that are not available to everyone. Anyone been?
10:30 what parties or meet and great does the getaway have for solo travelers?
This was very helpful. I’m sailing on this ship to the Caribbean in December!
Nice. Are you going to do any of the shore excursions being offered? Thank you for watching.
I hope so! I am still planning a few things, but I do hope to get a few excursions in!
Me too, during thanksgiving 😊
Me too Dec 1-8 and 8-13
This was very helpful. Perfect length, great highlights! Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching.
My daughter is turning 21 and we are going to take her and her friends on a cruise. We have only done Carnival in the past and she loved it. My question is would NCL be a good fit for some young girls who will be drinking and want a lively time? I really like the idea of the 7 night bermuda cruise NCL offers but wonder if Royal Carribean or Carnival might be a better fit for the younger ones. Any advice would be appreciated. TIA
Vickie James ncl all the way. I got hooked when I was 20 and have sailed ncl now 23 out of 25 times. Late May is ideal for her age to sail for her to have the best time.
We are planning to cruise in June 2021. What do you think the chances are of us cruising?
We are going to be on it in September the 5th really looking forward to it.
Awesome. What's the itinerary for your trip? Thank you for watching.
- same here
September 5th was the day I left the ship 😭😭😭
Is this the same ship as the escape???. I was on the escape and this is the exact same thing
Glad NCL is sailing out of NOLA. The drive is about 11 hours from where we live (near St Louis) and we would rather not fly if we don't have to. I really hope one day they'll have more sailings out of there. I read somewhere that about 90% of cruisers drive to NOLA.
That's not too bad. Thank you for watching.
I’ll be on this one next Friday and I’m super excited!
Awesome! I'm excited for you. What's the itinerary for your trip? Thank you for watching.
Cruise Radio we are going to Costa Maya, Harvest Caye, Ochos Rios and Grand Caymen
How was the cruise ship?
Kirk Brown it was great I loved it. Could have done without getting seasick the first day. The shows were amazing and so were all the crew. Would definitely go back on that ship if I had the chance to
I noticed the rooms are smaller than the rooms on carnival. We're a family of 5 and even the ocean view looks tiny. How's the food?
There are so many bars and restaurants. How do you know for advance, that your drink or food is free, is included to your all inclusice packace?
Drinks will be included with the package. You can pre-select your dining before you sail. Some of these ships have 20 options. Thank you for watching.
Do you think Norwegian Getaway would be a good ship to take on a transatlantic cruise?!!
We are going Thérèse in septembre! 🎉
Fun! Have an awesome time.
I too am going on this cruise Dec 13, my first ever cruise. I have a Balcony Stateroom, hoping it’s in a prime location
I'm excited for you. What's the itinerary for your trip? Thank you for watching.
Congratulations Ginnie! Please let us know how it went 😊
Sailing out of NOLA December 1. Looking forward.
Awesome. What's the itinerary for your trip? Thank you for watching.
@@CruiseRadio Western Caribbean. 2 sea days, then Cozumel, Belize, then Roatan (I don't remember which order). This is my mil's first cruise, so even though we've been in the Western Caribbean 3 times and are ready for a change, my mil is 75 and this has sort of been on her bucket list. We booked a mini suite on Deck 9 for the 3 of us. It's a little roomier so three of us don't get crammed in. We'll be getting real vanilla for dh's co-workers, as they all love to cook.
Sailing out of New Orleans on the 29th of December. We are 5 couples and looking forward to have a great time.
looks like the Gem very nice
Have you sailed on the Gem before? Thank you for watching.
Sailing this Sunday out of NOLA. YAAAAY!!
Nice. What's the itinerary for your trip? Thank you for watching.
@Amiee Ward, how was your cruise experience. I would love to hear about it 😊
@@Toni-Marie Warning: Long post.
Thanks for asking. Sadly it wasn't what I hoped for. This was our first cruise on a modern megaship. I'll be the first to admit that I need exercise, but it seemed like everything was a long walk. I have arthritis in my left knee, and that didn't help matters. To get from one dining room to the ladies' room I had to walk the entire length of the casino and then down a long corridor. These megaships should think about putting in people movers on each deck like they have in airports.
The positive about being on a megaship (in my opinion) is how it gently sways in the wind, whether or not there are waves. My mil hardly ever gets good sleep, but with the gentle rocking she said she got the best sleep in a long time. I sort of wish the ship left a little earlier because I'd love to see the view of the Mississippi River when it's light out.
I was especially disappointed in what they consider to be a mini suite. Our balcony cabin on the Norwegian Sun was bigger. Me, my husband and my mother-in-law were crammed in pretty close together, so we brought a shower curtain as a room divider so we could get at least some privacy.
The crew were some of the best I've ever seen. There was a guy who walked around the buffet with a candle on his head shouting some kind of good morning song. Sad that I wasn't able to get a picture with him. My mil would go to sleep about 7 pm and our cabin steward was worried he wasn't doing enough for us. This was our 4th cruise and I am always impressed with how great the crew always is.
One thing that saddens me is how corporate and commercialized everything has become not just on the ships themselves, but also the ports. That was not the Cozumel I fell in love with back in 2005. It's now full of tee shirt and trinket shops with the owners getting in your face about coming in. One stepped in front of me and shoved a map in my face and I told him in my best squad leader voice to back off. I wonder if they know that this is the sort of thing people go on vacation to get away from. My husband and I would have booked a private excursion somewhere, but this cruise was mainly for my mil and we decided to keep it simple. If there was a chapel on the Getaway I didn't find it.
Sorry if this was too negative. If this is the direction cruising is going in, I'm not sure I even want to cruise anymore. Hubby and I are ready to try something different, whether it be sailing out of a different port on one of the older ships, sail with another cruise line, or not cruising at all but flying to an all-inclusive that might have excursions.
I give it 2-1/2 out of 5 stars.
@@eadecamp Thank you for your honesty. Having never been on a cruise and the cost involved I am doing alot of research while saving for and planning my dream vacation.
I live in New Orleans and am finally in a position to start cruising. We're starting with Carnival. I was torn between which was next out of NCL and Royal. I think NCL is going to be the next one.
That’s a good opportunity to try something different and she just underwent a massive makeover. Thank you for watching.
Do you think there is enough on this ship to keep a 12 and 9 year old happy?
Yes. Ive been on her identicle sister Breakaway and her similar sister Bliss. Some of the best ship for kids ive seen.
Going on it in December. Lay out looks similar to the Bliss.
Nice. What's the itinerary for your trip? Thank you for watching.
@@CruiseRadio it is 9 day cruise out of New Orleans, ports are Costa Maya Mexico, Harvest Caye Belize, Roatan Honduras, Georgetown Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios Jamaica.
Thinking about this because they have solo cabins, which should be cheaper than paying double on other cruise lines. I don't know if any other cruise lines have solo cabins.
Will this be your first cruise? Thank you for watching.
It will be the first I've booked myself. Went with my parents and family friends a long time ago and they took care of all the arrangements. The solo cabins wound up being more expensive than the other cabins, so I have now booked a balcony (with their "sail away"). Unfortunately a couple of weeks later, I've just seen a pretty dramatic last minute price drop after I've already booked and paid. Still looking forward to the trip though, and trying not to think of the price drop. :)
Hello there! we are cruising in NCL getaway next August and as cigarette smokers (yep! we know it is a naughty habit!) we are worried about where to smoke! We are Europeans and have never been on an American ship before. Is there any place where you can smoke? We are not casino players ( gambling is another naughty habit, thanks we do not have it) so.....are we going to be able to smoke anywhere? Thanks a lot for your help!
If you don't want to smoke in the casino you can go outside. The Waterfront permits smoking on the starboard side, except by the outdoor dining areas. Have a great cruise and thank you so much for watching.
Don't worry about your "naughty" smoking habit. I'm a smoker too and there were always plenty of us in the smoking area! Sometimes it was standing room only! lol
I smoke cigars and hang out in the cigar room. Contrary to the video people stop in all the time for a cigarette, Really, who cares.
One side of Spice H20 allows smoking. There is an area on the Lido deck that allows smoking. It's always choked with smoke though. I recommend Spice H2O.
Thanks for asking the question about smoking, I wondered the same thing. Yes it is a nasty habit however, for me, hard to overcome. Hope you enjoyed your cruise. 😊
The funny thing is that this is already out of date. They made a few changes while in drydock, such as the Atrium Cafe is now a Starbucks. ;)
HI Derek. I'm aware of the dry dock the ship underwent in May 2019. Thank you so much for watching and all your support. You're the reason I make these videos.
@@CruiseRadio Thanks! I wasn't trying to criticize, it was more to point out how things change; even on a cruise ship.
@@OrdinaryDude They replaced Fat Cats, too. Wonder if that partnership was over? Most of those contracts are five-year deals.
@@CruiseRadio Well, I'll be on her mid-July so I guess I get to see what they replaced that with then.
We booked a 12 day Western Caribbean Fen '20 then Norwegian canceled 2 cruises and told all of us that they were using them for a private cruise only to find out by our TA that they made those cruises into 7 day cruises. They told us our perks wouldn't transfer and wanted a bigger deposit. Our group TA (Avoya) fought for us and finally the CEO of Norwegian gave us 15% discount, all our perks back. They did cut 2 good ports from our 9 day cruise as well. We are still debating on whether to go or not. We have until Sept I think to pay for the whole trip.
You never mentioned anything about the rebuild in 2019, so I guess your review was before that yard period.
It was shot like two weeks before it went in.
Ur voice reminds me of Sheldon, makes the video more interesting
can't wait on board Feb next yr
It can’t get here fast enough!
Cruise in April 2020 o Norwegian Getaway mid ship balcony because I did want to sleep in a cubby hole studio. This will be my first cruise.
Are you doing this one solo? Thanks for watching.
@@CruiseRadio yes.
@@deannasmall2627 My first solo cruise was on NCL's Epic. It was great. I'm so glad that NCL has the solo traveler in mind. It is very forward thinking.
I will be on the Norwegian Getaway one year from today, Jan 5, 2022. It'll be my first Norwegian cruise having been on Costa, Royal and Carnival for the last 27 years. Really looking forward to it. Great video!
How was your cruise? Cute way to drop that stealth brag into your post!
I’m looking at booking NCL for me and my daughter for next year, so I’m hoping it’s as fun as it looks.
@@JulieWallis1963 Jan 4th as I pulled into Miami (after driving 9 hours from Panama City) I received a call from NCL - We regret to inform you that your cruise has been canceled. 4 of the 5 ports hit Covid Level 4 and couldn't allow ships to dock. some went to Orlando to the parks. I happened to have a friend leaving from Port Canaveral on the MSC Meraviglia on the 9th and joined her for a 7 night Western Caribbean.
So I STILL haven't been on Norwegian. They processed my refund immediately and I have till next May to use my future cruise credit. I've been on 3 other cruises since, just not NCL.
@@kennywalker4091 that was a shame but it had a good ending. Nice to know they were on the ball with the refund too.
The decor on this is identical to the Breakaway that I just cruised. I’m sorry they are adding Starbucks. I liked the Atrium cafe coffee and cheaper than starbucks! Glad they are adding Syds. It’s a blast!
What was the best part on your cruise on the Breakaway? Thank you for watching.
Is the moderno free? Or does it cost extra?
Extra unless its a perk you pick. Are you sailing Getaway?
@@CruiseRadio yes I am
Either your camera is crazy good or they definitely replaced every Carpet in the dry dock earlier this year. They’re so vibrant
They are very vibrant. Any plans to sail on the Getaway in the future? Thank you for watching.
Cruise Radio probably not unless it’s convenient. I’ve sailed Breakaway 7 times and Escape quite a few. I’m looking forward to sailing the Bliss and, next April, the Encore!!
Awesome, we should be friends Captain Sushil Bhan
Done the Epic Rome here we come in July 19
Nice. Thank you for watching.
My husband and I are thinking about going to Spain in April 2020. Anyone else?
That sounds awesome. What's the itinerary for your trip? Thank you for watching.
Funny story, if you want to read it all!! I cruised on the Getaway a few years back, (awesome ship). There were 3 women, a mom, her daughter, and her daughter's girlfriend, (yes, actual girlfriend). The butch girlfriend was drunk before we even left port in Miami. She came up to me staggering, and asking where the restrooms were. It was my first cruise so I was no help to her. Later that night she was so wasted, (if that was even possible) she started pushing other passengers into the pool! She pushed one lady in who was holding either a cell phone or camera and the woman was understandably angry! There was a confrontation and the drunk girl started fighting with the woman! The woman's husband stepped in to protect his wife and butch girl's gf saw this, picked up a deck chair and smashed the husband in the face with it!!! I think his nose got broken, it was bleeding pretty badly. Security came and the two girls were placed under house arrest. They were put in their cabin with a guard outside the door, and we're not allowed to leave their cabin for the remainder of the night. The next day their drink passes (or whatever they're called) were revoked! So the two went around to bars trying to get other passengers to get them drinks. We were sitting at the bar and these two showed up and someone ordered drinks for them. There are cameras all over the ship and security must have been watching these two, because just as the bartender gave them their drinks, he got a call and was told they were cut off. He went back over, grabbed the drinks and told them that they weren't allowed to get drinks themselves or bother other passengers for drinks. When we pulled into port in St. Thomas, the girls were kicked off the ship, (I guess the poor mom had to get off too because she didn't want to abandon her daughter) and the three were left to find their own way home from there! I felt bad for the mom that her daughter's gf started all of this trouble on the very first day, so she lost out on the cruise and all the money she paid for it, plus having to pay for a way back home!!! I bet she had some very choice words for her daughter's gf!!! Very crazy and interesting experience, but the rest of the cruise was top notch!!!
Wow, what a story! That must have been a sight on your fist cruise. Do you have another one booked? Thank you for watching.
@@CruiseRadio unfortunately, I don't have another cruise booked. It was a once in a lifetime thing for me. I was given a free cruise by a family member who is a travel agent as a thank you for the times I helped them out. I was given the offer several times before finally accepting. I'm glad I did! It was a great experience and I would recommend it to everyone!
I’m going to sail on her for my birthday
Nice. Will this be your first cruise? Thank you for watching.
Now we are heading on this ship!!! (If you dont remember me my cruise got cancelled on the pearl) - And I run portside.news on instagram!

first one lol
High five!
I want when I was underage I want to go back so that I can party
It's always a fun time when you can party. What was your favorite part about the Getaway? Thanks for watching.
I see the studio cost more then a reg cabin paying for two guests.
Thank you for watching.
Can you show an example of that? The booking I'm looking at, 9 days to the ABC islands, shows Interiors to be roughly $200 more than a Studio. The Oceanview rooms are $800 more, Balconies $1300.
Image these rooms but crowded with people I Went on this and the guy says no reservations but we had a lot this boat is not recommended unless you like a pile of mess and a clump of people but I went on at Easter but still it probably is the same
Just plain sucks

We plan on sailing 2/24. I don’t like how smoking is permitted in the casino!! Gross!

You talk so fast make me feel tired slowdown bro
Good to know. Thank you for watching.
@@CruiseRadio perfect video and you covered alot of information in little time. I liked the speed at which you describe everything, watching others videos I often speed them up. We also have the option to slow down playback. Well done, I am doing research, hope to plan a cruise sometime in 2021. 😊
