He said that he may die making this film but he would rather die doing what he loves than die doing nothing. So sadly I would say this will be his last movie ;-;
who knows man. like he might be announced dead but then he might just come back right away sick of being dead and wanting to make just one more....he'll do it probably another nine times after that.
Stan Lee may create cool superhero stories, but THIS MAN!!! This man create a struggle story of average character with a lot of moral conflict and easily make everyone smile and having a warm feeling for every story. I'm hyped watching this video! Thank you!!!
Micah Buzan Well, it's a short film, not a full-length film. But yeah, he's an animator first and foremost (he said so himself) so he will never stop until he can't animate any longer.
From what I understand it was originally a short from for Ghibli Museum, but he was unsatisfied with the results and is now turning it into a feature length. At least I hope this is the case!
Micah Buzan Hopefully, yeah. But, who knows? I think I'd rather hear some news about his passion on writing a new manga. As much as I love his animated works, his mangas are the best. I heard that it's about Feudal Japan, but I've never heard anything about it again.
Actually, yes, he was unsatisfied with it, but not because of that necessarily. He was unsatisfied doing it because it was such a small-scale project, and he wanted to work on a feature film instead, since that would be a better send off for him, and he loves working in the art of Ghibli. He is hiring people to become animators for him, and on the job notice, it says that the Boro short film was completed. I'm hoping this new film is something as big as Spirited Away. I think things like When the wind Rises and When Marnie was there are good too, but I definitely hope his last feature film is a banger like Spirited away.
When I was lucky enough to go to Japan with my family, we got to go to the Studio Ghibli museum, and this little caterpillar thing was the movie they had going. IT WAS SO CUTE! And, they take the time and care to redecorate a whole hallway every time the movie is changed. I think. Either way, it's so worth it if you ever get the chance. Memories for a lifetime.
Me too, this was 2019. I think they cycle through the shorts monthly? Funny thing about the museum - the gift shop is decent (got some cool stickers) but the Donguri shops around Japan generally have more interesting items
And after it he came from retirement AGAIN and did The Boy and The Heron mega project AND rumors say that he's yet again, at the age of 82 working on another project.
I think more accurately his family probably expects that from him. LOL the man even said to his wife that he is completely ready to die before his project is finished because he could not die without doing anything. His words, not mine! haha
He's been using computers for animation for longer than most assume. This film will feature the most CGI he's done, but even Princess Mononokee had about 15 minutes of CGI. Studio Ghibli films do a great job of emulating the hand drawn aesthetic, but their films have largely been animated with digital ink and paint since Spirited Away.
Pfft! Yeah i know, like the where they walk through the bush in Spirited Away.I was just kiddin. HOWEVER. To my knowledge like you said, he rarely uses very much but this film appears to be entirely CGI which would be a first.
What's interesting is that even though the animation is being rendered in CGI, we still see him using a lot of paper to draw the rough animation. I remember hearing him say something like "do everything by hand, even when using computers." The way I interpret that is to make sure the human touch is never replaced by technology. I love that he's still going strong making stuff. Such an inspirational force.
Miyazaki: I have this great idea for a new movie. Friend: Miyazaki, why are you not retiring like you said you would? Miyazaki: *animating* Sorry, can't hear you.
I saw it yesterday. It was a wonderful experience. The heartwarming story of a caterpillar that wakes up to life and witnesses its beauty and tragedies. All sound effects are made by one person. This little movie stays with you long after you've seen it.
the funny thing is that he had the option to choose between japanese CGI studios and Pixar for this one, but went with the japanese ones because they "could speak japanese"
But the day he dies will be a sad day to me... 😔 i guess I will watch Princess mononoke (which is my favourite movie) on that day, be sad and drink a glass of wine... or more 🙄
I'm glad to see he's finally getting around to making it! I wasn't expecting it! Ah, it looks so beautiful... a dream, a dream, it mus be a dream! It makes my skill seem so dull. Even so, I have a lot of time to go far... almost too far away from now...
Hayao Miyazaki my absolute inspiration in life. you are giving life spirit to everything in movies & work. i saw your work so lately it is wowowowo i have no word for that . everything is alive awesome Hayao miyazaki, Miyazaki and Long live
This is a short film he's doing for the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Tokyo, and it will only be shown there. He HAS started working on a new feature film titled "Kimitachi Wa Dou Ikiruka", which they're saying that will take 3-4 years to complete.
"Kimitachi Wa Dou Ikiruka" titled "How do you Live?" in english, is finally coming out in Japan this summer, It's most likely Miyazaki's final film, and he said he made it for his grandson, as a way to say "Grandpa is moving onto the next world soon but he is leaving behind this film" It will be a very special movie
I love Hayao Miyazaki's art and films. I can't wait to see his new animated film in the future and his directorial comeback. One day in the future if I became a director I would love to make a hand drawn animated anime film that is a homage of Hayao Miyazaki's art and films. A film that takes place in Japan a long time ago where a little girl has to come to a long dangerous journey to find her courage and wisdom and bravery from an evil wolf. The relationship between the girl and the wolf is similar to the relationship of Mowgli and Share Khan from Disney's The Jungle Book.
Miyazaki is so great! Always such a deep meaning in his movies. I just saw his new movie about the caterpillar in the ジブリ美術館... I’m so happy! すごく可愛いです ! It’s impressing how he makes you loving this little brown thing XD
Nalenja Oh really? Where did you see it? X'D I'm trying to find this short film but no luck. I would go to the Mitaka Museum in Tokyo if I wasn't so far from it. :')
I wonder if it be a film with no humans in but looks like a good start of what it might look like. I am so glad I pick him as my Art Award bronze person to look up about (2010) so miss newer films. Thanks for doing this video.
He’s never ending because he constantly retires so that he can hassle himself over and over again that he still has stories to tell that the world must know. So that every creation is treated as his last in an effort to pump out all he’s got into it and than in the end.....he still, is not satisfied and must keep going!☺️😭
I adore this man.. No, I'm wrong, I love him. He is a genius, his movies are not simple cartoons, are magnificent work of art ❤️ To me, the greatest director alive.
Absolutely breathtaking works with purposes are produced as always. Best wishes to Hayao Miyazaki and his 君たちはどう生きるか. Please don't happen to be another Kon Satoshi if you know what I mean.
This cgi looks so much better than the cgi in Earwig and the Witch. Hard to believe it's even the same studio. If they continue to use cgi I desperately hope they return to this style.
Aidan John oh wow nice. so this is the promised movie? because in the video I ve seen they said that first he shows the boro scenes and in the end of the documentary a script for a future movie appears which will ended in 2019.
Fer El Kaonashi Maybe, that is misinformation by IGN japan. I can't find any other japanese source. In NHK documentary, they said miyazaki make boro and planning another long film.
I'm glad Miyazaki lives in Japan, where people can get really, really, really old. 5 more films!
He said that he may die making this film but he would rather die doing what he loves than die doing nothing. So sadly I would say this will be his last movie ;-;
Blu Fish That is so bad-ass. Epic human being.
derBene puhahahahahhahahaha XD Ayao Miyazaki grand pa 4 eva !!!
Rich4098 he is an immortal being far too complex for our mundane minds to comprehend. he deceives death.
who knows man. like he might be announced dead but then he might just come back right away sick of being dead and wanting to make just one more....he'll do it probably another nine times after that.
i think that when he decides to stop doing movies he sits on a chair for five minutes and starts making another movie because he is bored
:D yes!
Hence being called the never ending man!
for sure! He have a mission in his life entrainfantasia.blogspot.com/p/il-cinema-saturno-allinterno-del-museo-g.html
Wow you predicted the future
Well he'd done this many times
Stan Lee may create cool superhero stories, but THIS MAN!!! This man create a struggle story of average character with a lot of moral conflict and easily make everyone smile and having a warm feeling for every story.
I'm hyped watching this video! Thank you!!!
They are of different levels. Lee creates fandom. Miadzaki creates stories
Egor Tilpunov i wouldmt degrade lee like that...isnt fair he makes stories too
What was the meaning of this comment? they're both great icons that brought joy.
He's failed at retiring once again.

Micah Buzan I hope he keeps failing he is perfect
Please God, dont take him yet.
Ω穴と百合の嬢王
Where did he say that?
Yes please god don't take him
Take him after i get to meet this beautiful person
When I saw the full short film i was glad he was still there for us.
Hope he lives as long as possible
Heh, "God"? What is that? Heh... An imaginary friend of yours? *Tips fedora*
you have no idea how happy this makes me
Molten_ me too he so cool and awesome
Me too!
Same here. 🥺

I've visited the museum also. It was lovely. The whole area too. Miyazaki anime movies are the best. I'm glad you had great time as well.
Me too, this was 2019. I think they cycle through the shorts monthly? Funny thing about the museum - the gift shop is decent (got some cool stickers) but the Donguri shops around Japan generally have more interesting items
It's like the Godfather, he can't seem to let go of his work.
Alejandro Molina it's sweet
The fact that he came out of his retirement and start working in this proyect fills my heart with joy
And after it he came from retirement AGAIN and did The Boy and The Heron mega project AND rumors say that he's yet again, at the age of 82 working on another project.
that version of the tonari no totoro theme is pretty damn fantastic!
Anyone know who the artist behind it is?
subarashiiyo17 I'm pretty sure it's by Sungha Jung. He has a youtube channel called jwcfree
Miayaki: *on death bed*
Family member: What is your last words?
Miayaki: I... have some more story pitchs under my bed
Family: What!?!
I think more accurately his family probably expects that from him. LOL the man even said to his wife that he is completely ready to die before his project is finished because he could not die without doing anything. His words, not mine! haha
@@rei_tan So he can potentially live forever if he stop making movies? :D
Another silly dialogue comment. Show some originality!
gotta give it to Hayao Miyazaki for UN-retiring AGAIN :) the passion is just too real!! Thank God for this man and his work!!
Miyazaki, you're a genius! Let me say it.
Do my eyes decieve me? Is Hayoa Miyakazi using.....TECHNOLOGY!?
spirited away and Pixar
I made it just for the video. :D
He's been using computers for animation for longer than most assume. This film will feature the most CGI he's done, but even Princess Mononokee had about 15 minutes of CGI.

Miyazaki: I have this great idea for a new movie.
Friend: Miyazaki, why are you not retiring like you said you would?
Miyazaki: *animating* Sorry, can't hear you.
huge fans of his work
beautiful story
he is my hero
I wish I could hug him one day
I saw it yesterday. It was a wonderful experience. The heartwarming story of a caterpillar that wakes up to life and witnesses its beauty and tragedies. All sound effects are made by one person. This little movie stays with you long after you've seen it.
I am so excited to hear he is writing, anime.again can't wait until it comes out.I am.surprised he's using technology
please say he is immortal this man deserves to live for as long as he wants.
i think he would hate that
Hayao Miyazaki is another form of Osamu Tezuka.
the funny thing is that he had the option to choose between japanese CGI studios and Pixar for this one, but went with the japanese ones because they "could speak japanese"
😍❤👏 I love the joy in his smile at the end!!! ....this is so wonderful!!!!
Him smiling at the end just made me sad thinking the fact he only has few years left.
He's 79 now. Who knows, maybe he will be 90 or older 🤷♀️
But the day he dies will be a sad day to me... 😔 i guess I will watch Princess mononoke (which is my favourite movie) on that day, be sad and drink a glass of wine... or more 🙄
One of the few uplifting films that were nominated
Man these movies that he creates make me so happy. I can’t wait to be front row when his new film comes out. Boro is so cute ☺️
Нобелевская премия Мира справедливая награда при жизни для этого Волшебника. Сколько людей он сделал счастливее и добрее...
I'm glad to see he's finally getting around to making it! I wasn't expecting it!
Ah, it looks so beautiful... a dream, a dream, it mus be a dream! It makes my skill seem so dull. Even so, I have a lot of time to go far... almost too far away from now...
I'm hyped for this. I just hope this gets a normal wide spread theater release like "Ponyo" and "The Secret World of Ariety" did.
Hayao Miyazaki my absolute inspiration in life. you are giving life spirit to everything in movies & work.
i saw your work so lately it is wowowowo i have no word for that . everything is alive awesome

Boro is already my favorite Ghibli character. I can't wait to see this!
I love the Totoro themed background music 😍❤
I love his work so much! It made my childhood!
This is a short film he's doing for the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Tokyo, and it will only be shown there. He HAS started working on a new feature film titled "Kimitachi Wa Dou Ikiruka", which they're saying that will take 3-4 years to complete.

How happy this makes me❤️
glad that the background is my neighbor totoro
Such a awww moment when the younger generation is teaching the older to use the new stuff, awesome to see miyazaki using a tablet!
Would not be surprised if he makes another movie after this, the man never gives up.
Boros hatching scene is gonna be iconic i already know!
Excited for this welcome back legend
Omg that music seems like the song of my neighbour totoro 🥺😭🎈❤️♥️🙏🏻 big respect for this legend man
Miyazaki is so great! Always such a deep meaning in his movies. I just saw his new movie about the caterpillar in the ジブリ美術館... I’m so happy! すごく可愛いです ! It’s impressing how he makes you loving this little brown thing XD

Please make 100 more films before retirement.
Tremendous Fighting 😂 Love this comment
It looks so beautiful even being unfinished
I wish I would see this short film in the museum!! I also wanna see Miyazaki in person!
0:15 you can see he enjoys making the film :)
I was afraid this wouldn't look cool but it does
I wonder if it be a film with no humans in but looks like a good start of what it might look like. I am so glad I pick him as my Art Award bronze person to look up about (2010) so miss newer films. Thanks for doing this video.

So that every creation is treated as his last in an effort to pump out all he’s got into it and than in the end.....he still, is not satisfied and must keep going!☺️😭
I knew he wasn't gonna stay in retirement, he didn't the first time...I honestly feel he will keep giving is magic until he passes.
sou muito fã de todos os trabalhos dele ❤😻 tudo muito lindo e criativo.
Nice backsound and nostalgic
I adore this man.. No, I'm wrong, I love him. He is a genius, his movies are not simple cartoons, are magnificent work of art ❤️ To me, the greatest director alive.
An eight years old man still creates adorable characters.
The Tradtitional animating God has returned!

This cgi looks so much better than the cgi in Earwig and the Witch. Hard to believe it's even the same studio. If they continue to use cgi I desperately hope they return to this style.
You see it was entirely different production team on the Earwig and the Witch.
OH MY FUCKING GOD FUCK ME I WASNT READY SHIT!

Last words of Miyazaki wait before I die let me finish this movie first
I ve heard that it will be a short film of ten minutes. is that right?
It was going to be, but Hayao wants to extend it into I full length film.
Aidan John oh wow nice. so this is the promised movie? because in the video I ve seen they said that first he shows the boro scenes and in the end of the documentary a script for a future movie appears which will ended in 2019.
Boro is short film for ghibli museum. nothing more, nothing less.
there are still no info for new movies.
dede den Hayao miyazaki said that the short-film wants to become a full length movie
Fer El Kaonashi Maybe, that is misinformation by IGN japan.
I can't find any other japanese source.
In NHK documentary, they said miyazaki make boro and planning another long film.
Someone please upload a translated version of the captions or subtitles 😐
Please Hayao Miyazaki do Majo no takkyūbin 2 !
Okay, who was the one that let grampa Miyazaki walk out of the retirement home once again? He's making movies again!!
