My mom in 1989 was a nurse and earned more money than my dad. She wanted to pick out and buy her OWN car. The dealership mentioned every time she went in to bring her husband. She finally was ready and they stalled her. She had taken meticulous notes of what everyone said to her and their names. She went to the manager and said she was going to take her car money to a lawyer and sue them for discrimination. This was in Medford Oregon and they gave her the deal she wanted with only her name.

At the time I didn't know it but as a female, I was truly lucky at the age of 18 in 1971 to have my own savings account.
At 19 I was moving to another state. When I went to close the account, there wasn't any money in it. I asked how this could happen as I was the only one who had touched the passbook. They said it was probably my boyfriend or husband. I told them I had neither, and regardless mine was the only name on the account and was it the bank policy to give someones money to somebody other than the account holder?
Needless to say I left with my money that day.

I'm the one who's always made the financial decisions in my marriage of over 30 years.

Unfortunately so many women today have forgotten about the hard work and painful experiences of their mothers and grandmothers. Women better wake up because certain politicians and their voters are trying to take away our civil rights.

He was flying to different states getting his drugs. He eventually was able to take everything out of her retirement accounts. All because they assumed Michel was a man. Luckily their house was only in her name and he didn’t get any part of it in the divorce. He took everything else, though. Years later ended up slipping on snow at his mailbox. Broke his neck and was paralyzed.Guess who he had the nerve to call? His own family didn’t even go see him. He did not last long. Karma is real.

They knew she was married to him, but his name was not in the account. He should not have, it was able to take her money out of her account. "SUE. THE BANK"!!! YOU WILL PROBABLY GET MORE. The husband didn't lose the bank book, he never had it. His name wasn't on the account in the first place." The Bank Breached their contract" she can also Sue the man who gave her husband the bank book, and the Bank clerk who gave him the bank book. After that, get a divorce!! Once the dentist had her put under her husband insisted the 2 teeth were pulled instead. My mom was younger and beautiful and he was insecure. You can say whatever you want but in France, until the 1970s, women needed the permission and supervision of their husbands to open a bank account. Muslim women (when Islam is actually respected as opposed to the cultural background) had the right to be financially autonomous, inherit and manage their own money as they pleased. This is why in the 19th century, France banned for a while the Quran, seen as too permissive. Quite ironic....
