Very informative, I knew nothing about how these pi1541's go together until now. Are they able to emulate 1571 as well?

Thank you! I've heard a rumour that 1571 support *may* be coming to a future version of the firmware, but at present, 1.24 offers full emulation of 1541 and partial emulation of 1581. -- JC

I found that the older Pi1541 firmware would work to run the Maverick disk copier program directly from a Pi1541, but the newest 1.24 version firmware does not, when trying to run the Maverick application, the newer version just exits out and fails to run it, however the 1.23 version firmware works OK and will let you run and use the application. Also I am not sure if the nibble copy routines work with the Pi1541 disk images you can mount with the buttons, I seem to remember having issues with that but after seeing your other video on the .NIB/.D64/.G64 disk formats maybe it is a matter of using a .G64 image instead of a .D64 image with the Pi1541 to be able to properly archive a real floppy to a digital format. Something else to experiment with I guess.

Hello Kevin. In general use, I've had no issues with 1.24 besides the common bug that the activity light stopped working on my Pi Zero version. That said, I have not yet attempted any disk nibbling to the Pi1541, but I would certainly use *G64* as my destination image type (especially when attempting to duplicate copy-protected originals) for reasons explained in the other video that you watched! :-) A D64 is just fine for regular files on personal disks that can be copied with any old disk or file copier. -- JC

Hello me too also trying to build one using PI3A+ but my issue is I don't have HDMI output. Do you by chance know this issue?

Sorry, I don't use the Pi1541's HDMI output at all (and have never tried to). -- JC

3:13 Wait, there are disasterous bugs in pre-1541-II ROMs? I never had a 1541-II, so... what are these disasters waiting to happen? Can the Pi1541 just be upgraded to use the 1541-II ROMs?

Not sure about disasters, but yes you can update it by replacing your existing 1541 ROM image on the SD card with a 1541-II image.

Works great, with a small overclock. Uses the exact same pi1541 firmware as 3A+. My Pi Zero2 pi1541 is exactly as compatible as my 3A+ based unit.

Why cant someone just port it to pc, have a serial to usb and then have multiple emulated drives instead of 1 at a time. It would be much cheaper and have the ability to use things like raid and automated backups
