- Today Vick is dropping some priceless restoration knowledge. In today’s episode of Restorations with Vick, you’ll learn how to repaint the midsole on the Air Jordan 3.
But we’re not repainting any Air Jordan 3 - this pair is special. Oh, to be a student at the University of Oregon! The Air Jordan 3 Oregon Pit Crew is a super rare shoe that was released in limited quantities to members of Oregon’s student section, dubbed “The Pit”.
At the time of this video, pairs are trading at around the $2k-5k mark, making this one of the more expensive Air Jordan 3s out there. Follow along as Vick brings this rare Air Jordan back to life with a fresh coat of paint.
Use this same method to repaint any of your Air Jordans, and you should be good to go! Nothing like learning from the GOAT himself. Vick really can do it all.

Great video as always! Now get a pair of AMM 4s and show us how to fix scuffs on the nubuck leather. Mine came with some scuffs 😭. I tried soft and medium brushes with no change. I didn't want to be too aggressive and make them worse.
That's a hard task, but we can look into it
I used a wet mr clean pad and lightened up my scuffs on nubuck . But go soft , then clean shoe completely or it’ll leave water stains / marks . Let dry then use a rubber brush on them and hit them
With water/ stain repellent

What do you use to remove the old paint if you don’t mind me asking ( I got a pair of tru blues to restore)
@@johannesaxelsson9713 I personally use acetone and cotton balls but go light on the acetone and doesn’t scrub too hard because you can potentially ruin the midsole. Another alternative is Dads easy spray.
@@johannesaxelsson9713 I use light paint remover for wood or steel. It works really well but youu gotta be careful to work with staff like this.

But i wondering if is possible to achieve this results using paintbrush and sandpaper only or i need to invest in airbrush?
You should be able to achieve the same results, it will probably just take a little longer.

Also don’t want to invest in an airbrush. But I think if it’s not super expensive and the fact you can use it for other purposes as well, it might be worth a try

Is sanding necessary?
When Vick said he sands down the excess paint then goes over it with another coat, I wanted to ask would that also keep the paint from cracking? Because ultimately he is sanding off excess paint that possibly would crack?
Unfortunately there is not a way to fully stop them from cracking, because of the wear.

I didn’t quite catch the paint you use for the airbrush and also do you know what I would need in its entirety to start shoe cleaning and restorations myself to the high standards you guys show here I’m based in London.

When I try to repaint Jordan 3 midsoles as soon as I take the paint of the rubber sole they get really rough and this doesn’t look good when applaying the paint. How can I fix this has anybody got tips for me?

What do you do if you get paint on the elephant print
Try cleaning with our cleaning solution and brushes. Do not spot clean or use harsh brush strokes.
Hey Vick when doing a midsole repaint on my BC3s why does my white paint
Always peel off in certain areas when i peel off the masking tape??? I always give it at least 24 hours sometimes even more time for the white paint to dry before i even tape it off to do the black & never fails😔😔😔
Before painting sand it and deglaze with the acetone.After that apply 2 coats of bulldog adhesion promoter. Also you can add to your paint scratch resistance sealer.
My personal tip is to apply first super light coat of the white paint with an regular brush.
even with very detailed step by step instructions I would probably still mess up

How would I remove creases in my Jordan 6s reflection of a champion? I’m afraid to use a steam iron in case I burn through it
You can use a Shoe Tree or Stuff the toe box with a towel to push the creasing out.

Unfortunately, we as a company do not provide restoring, customization, and repair products and tools. You can certainly use paint from Angelus Direct 12pk
