  • Jesus taught His disciples to pray in this manner: "Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). As we continue our study of the Sermon on the Mount, we learn that when we make God's kingdom our focus, He provides everything we need.
This teaching is from our series Matthew - 2011 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

A great template for prayer, that I found years ago, is ACTS:
ACKNOWLEDGE the Lord (His glory, majesty, greatness, mercy etc.)
    CONFESS (our sins)
THANKS (thank Him for what He's done)
SUPPLICATION (ask Him for His help)
Of course, this is just one type of prayer that we can do, but it puts The Lord first and ourselves after.

Been following this series in order (and I am so thankful for it!) but I noticed the prior study (Matthew 5:33 - 6:8) is not in the Matthew playlist. I found it, but just wanted to mention it. Thanks and God bless.

I wish one thing. That Skip would have included that forgiveness to someone who repeatedly hurts us can only be done through the power of the Holy Spirit. It's not possible otherwise. To tell someone to forgive a repeated offense without understanding that it can only happen with the Spirit's help can seem impossible, and even frustrating. This is one area whereby we need to know the Holy Spirit on a regular basis, open our hearts to its leading by reading the Word daily, or this forgiveness thing will be foreign as your ability to allow the Holy Spirit to lead will be unexercised and futile.

Have you changed from this time, Skip? Do you still just ask for daily bread or are you guys trying too get more, like Joel Olsteen type church in 2021?
It sounds like you understood these Sermon on the Mount but did you really buy what Jesus taught us?💡777

Sounds harsh towards a Brother who is sharing the depth of his understanding.

    Uh, you are wrong. KJV
1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
