LOL!!! If everything has a place, then you won't tend to put something in the wrong place and you rarely will loose anything.

I use turntables for jams, condiments, etc. and my spices are in racks. As for vertical stacking of clothes (horizontal? Vertical? Both?) I fold pajama tops and bottoms together so that when I pull one part out, the other is with it. I had not considered doing this with sheets. What a great idea! Love this video. 😇

Fellow book lover here so I get how you relate this your reading life 😍 My only reason for reading books that everyone else seems to be reading now, is that it’s great to have bookish conversations when it’s still fresh in everyone’s minds
I have a large box of books that my late husband kept trying to get me throw out. My response: "No, they're for my retirement." 4 years into retirement, I seem to spend the majority of my time going to doctor and other necessary appointments, or moving paper from one flat surface to another in a vain attempt to declutter; I haven't touched them! This program is going to be so helpful.
Yes! Labeling works! My son loves it. He totally goes with it and is so good about putting things away. I always thought he was just naturally messy. (It may have been a source of stress for him 😬) He always puts things where they go now. Bless his heart ❤️
Kallie, you are the best organizer on RUclips! You mention folding full sets of bedding; a similar idea that has always worked for me is to fold full sets of foldable clothes…tops, bottoms, underwear, socks..as ‘’’files” in my drawers or bins. Kids and grownups alike can leap into their clothes in a jiffy!
I've always LOVED the look of decanted pantry and frig items but, like you, have been skeptical of what seems to be pointless time-consuming effort. Thought I was smart resisting this fad but you made some good points to consider. Thanks, Kallie!
I love the sheet tip! I learned this about a year ago, and it makes me feel so peaceful - which sounds goofy, but I don't care. It was a game changer for me!
A few people asked about expiration dates. What I do, especially with spices and less frequently used baking goods, is add a second label on the bottom with the expiration date. This works well for me and helps me know when I need to buy a smaller quantity the next time since I'm not using it up.
That's a question I wanted to ask. But also what about when you restock & you have to put new expiration date labels? How do you remove the labels without leaving sticky residue on your bins?
@@cartooncraze5948 I make laminated labels with my Brother P-touch. They stay on well, but peel off easily when time to change it. I use them in my garden as well. They have lasted years.
Love the idea of decanting. Make everything look so much nicer/cleaner. Now days there are so many recalls how do you now if you have recall products if you don't have the original package?
I've been folding & storing my sheet sets like this for years. So great. No more frustration on finding the matching pillowcase or fitted sheet. I may have to rethink my organizational ideas for my kitchen now. Going to switch to the clear acrylic bins.
My favorite sheet hack is to put the folded sheets into the matching pillowcase and toss them in baskets labeled with the size (twin, queen, King) in my linen closet
I started folding my t-shirts similar to the way you do a few months ago. It is a game changer! I would love a link to your rolling bins. I find it hard to find bins that have straight up sides. Most flare out so they are bigger at the top than the bottom. That is wasted precious space.
i just bought rectangular study nice containers from my supermarket at the corner of the street. i can stack up to 4 of the small ones, 2 mediums or 1 big + 1 small. it’s just perfect! and i can buy extra containers when i go shopping for groceries. i can buy single containers, and not a 12 pack. i need one more medium? i grab one! i use them in my pantry and also for leftover food in the fridge, to freeze cooked food and as my bento boxes! they are so useful and versatile 🥰 leak proof, microwaveable, freezer safe, stackable, clear, dishwasher safe. just GOD SENT! i fit so much more products into my pantry now and nothing falls into my face when i look for something. and it keeps my pantry bug free!!!!!
@@sherrylynn4597 i just use those that my supermarket (Edeka in Germany) at the corner sells. i love that i can just drop by and buy one container of the size i need and that i don’t have to order a 12 pack on amazon. plus, they fit my shelves perfectly. you should measure your shelves and see what kind of volumes of what you need to store. then try to find what suits you. i have plastic containers with a rubber band. easy to clean, lightweight, they don’t break like glass. other people might prefer glass. some containers are fancy, they might have a leveling tool or a sifter, but i don’t bake that often. you need to assess your needs! :)
I'm in the process of reorganizing my kitchen... I use some great bins/containers from Walmart & am happy with how the project is coming along. I'm also working on my craft room, following tips from crafters I follow through social media. Like you, it takes me a while to buy in to the methods, but in the end am very satisfied with the results.
I love when things I have done my whole life or my mom showed me become trendy 😁 One thing I did for my special needs daughter: her shirts are in cubby bins. I rotate the current season into an area without an actual bin. It visually does the same thing as the horizontal folding. She can SEE her stack of shirts and not just wear the one from the top of the bin.
Rolling all the sheets into the top sheet is a good idea. I’m currently putting my sheets into one of the pillow cases, that works well for me but the top sheet thing is easier and it looks good too. 🙌
I love the file method for clothes. Especially for the kids. At the end of the week though it is kinda out of whack. But not so much as if it were regular stacks. The main reason I did it was bc they can see which shirt they wanted without messing up the rest. 2nd is bc it looks super cool.
I’m finding storage containers set boundaries I need with quantity of items- I have more glass containers and water bottles than I can use and store, so time to let some go. I’m finding decanting does make the pantry more functional and grocery inventory simpler- I have to watch again, I’m trying to keep up as you spoke so quickly. Always appreciate your motivation! Happy summer 🌈☀️
I actually put outfits folded into each other so there is no time spent looking for matches or wondering if you will have a top that matches that particular bottom. And I only shop in outfits, not singles. Clothes are the hardest to keep on top of for me, especially with 3 kids and this simplifies my life so much!
I joined the air fryer club a little late too! Bought one that's multi function (slow cooking, sous vid, grill, steam, etc). It allowed me to get rid of other single purpose items in my kitchen. Starting to replace some of my bins with clear bins in the fridge. Doing it as my budget allows.
I started file folding like this a few years ago. I started with kids clothes then adult underwear t-shirts. I've phased it in until I got in the habit. Sheet sets folded together is awesome! My overstock is pillow cases. It's fine with me. I still put them horizontal because they are on a high shelf. Clear bins here I come.
I’m a lover of bins and labels 😍 For Tupperware I only buy two sizes so that helps me with storage of them. I hate having multiple sizes. I have one size for left overs and another for lunches. That’s it lol
Great info. I'm finding that even with things being so organized, you will have to throw out or donate items because with all the organization (especially food storage containers and pots and pans) you'll actually have "less" space in some instances. But, it does force you to consider what is useful and what is not. I'm organizing and de-cluttering as I type this. It is truly an ongoing process.
I have folded my sheets as you do for as long as I can remember! I gave my sophomore year high school (1968) demonstration speech on how to fold sheets! I was just way ahead of my time 🤣😂🤣😂
There was so much hidden wisdom in 1960s home economics. My grandma washed the kids clothes at night then hung them on the line in the dark so the morning dew would help prevent wrinkles so she only had to iron the adult clothes. I wouldn't have thought of that after being raised by the typical 80s feminist who refused the clothesline all together. I would love to have a book with all those little tips and tricks.
@@krystlepoulin6382 Brings back memories of my childhood in the 1950s. There were 5 children and no dryer. Mom and Dad both worked full time out of the home. Being the only girl, I helped Mom hang out laundry outside. When my children were young and school was out for the summer (teacher), I would try to save money on electricity by hanging clothes outside (Texas). My toddler son told my retired neighbors that his mom invented a new way to dry clothes. They thought it so cute!
@@krystlepoulin6382 Where are you guys getting this stuff from? Feminism (women’s basic civil rights) is being blamed as to why women use dryers. 🙄😂Using the dryer has 0 to do with Feminism and everything to do with new technologies and convenience.
I grew up with a cardboard box in the cabinet full of lids for food storage. I currently use one drawer in the kitchen to hold the kitchen towels and all the lids. It works great for me because I just know which lids fit which containers, especially since we recently replaced our old containers to new matching sets so things are even easier to find. And then I have some stuff saved up for when my nieces move out on there own (which is growing near).
Hey Callie, great video, once again! I love your pantry and kitchen organization videos. Could you maybe do a video on where you got your various containers? Often I will watch an organization video and think the containers they used are just what I need; only to discover that the containers are no where to be found. Can you help in this area?
I’ve never commented before because I typically watch your videos as I’m doing my morning routine and take my phone along with me. But I just wanted to stop today and take the time to say how much value that your content provides and also that I just really enjoy you as a person:) 🥰
I’ve implemented many of your organizational ideas over the last year ie: canned goods in plastic dispensers, bins in the fridge, all my pastas in containers, bins in drawers, etc. and now I will get another couple bins for my food containers! BRILLIANT!
I do love bin organizing. I didn’t alway’s, but While cleaning my place a while back, I started to pick up a few, then a few more so on and so on. I love it. Love you, and you’re video’s. Ty for the extra tips. 🥰❤️
I found a solution that works for me with overstock food. First, I try to make certain that the container can hold more than what comes in the original package of whatever I’m decanting. That way I don’t have to wait until the container is completely empty to get more. Secondly, If there is still leftover, I give it away to my elderly mother in law, or my daughter/daughters-in-law. It’s always just a little bit, but they are excited to get free food stuff. It stretches their dollars. At first they were questioning me why, but now they just happily accept it. They have even begun passing on food to their friends and church families. It’s only weird if we behave weirdly about it. 😁
Thank you for this. I really need to try some of these. The bed sheet folding I have always done . My mother always did this and I learned it from her. I thought everyone did that since it just was always a part of my life. Thank you again for all you do.
Kallie, great video. I loved and laughed about the bins. I'm a bin-a-holic. For years I'd buy bins just because I knew I needed "something" for a particular purpose or drawer without first evaluating whether it would fit, or if it was practical, or if there was a style better suited to the need. I had to learn the hard way that a square bin by XYZ may not be the same version of square by PDQ manufacturer (one may be perfectly square, while one may taper down); not all bins stack the way they're supposed to; not all kitchen drawer utensil organizers are the same even though they may appear that way; and that the very same bin you want to get this year (to match your existing kitchen set, for example) may have an entirely different lid style or internal area shape than what you have now!
I like to get different sized empty shoe-boxes whenever I buy shoes, often the shoe stores are going to through them out anyways so its a win win for all.
My family eats a ton of peanut butter so we had a lot of large peanut butter jars. I remember my mother reusing the jars from my childhood for oatmeal and pastas. We now have matching sets. Lol.
Totally agree with the bins! Moved house recently and hubby wanted to by bins and organize the kitchen before we unpacked and I was like "No. I want to see what mess we need to fix after everything is unpacked". Buy a bin for a mess, not make a mess for a bin
Folding sheets bonus hack, instead of putting them inside the flat sheet, I put everything inside one inside out pillow case. That way the flat sheet stays clean!
Wow! I love the overstock bins. I never knew what to do with the "extras". This is life changing! I love your sheet storage.. I have tried & tried tho and cannot fold them neatly. Sigh. We did the same thing with microwaves. When they first came out we saw no use for them. Finally got one and the rest is history so it's said.. ha! Great video. Thnx!
I fold roughly and store the whole sheet set in one of the pillowcases, it looks pretty neat and it seems faster than trying to make the folds perfect!
for the sheets I almost follow the same ,have for years but I take the pillowcase and store all matching and folded sets instead of the top sheet, really helps if you have kids that go tearing thru the closet looking for something lol
I want to Thank You for your videos !! 💜 You have helped me get motivated to organize my home and to get rid of things I will never use. I have so much more space in my closets and cabinets. I can find things easier. TY. TY. TY. 😎
I've been file folding my tee shirts and socks since the early '80s. (Major OCD) Was stunned to find Marie Kondo does it the same way! I tried making packages of sheet sets by putting them inside a pillow case, but that was very messy compared to my ocd-folded stacks. I'm going to try your flat-sheet-wrap method now, it's making my inner ocd purr! I've tried decanting a few things, but considering I line up the original packaging with the edge of the shelf like some kind of Sleeping With The Enemy psycho, I only decant one or two things.
I am right there with you! I resist when it is “trendy”, but it so works! I think the key for me too was switching to clear bins so I can see everything and know what I have, helps to keep the clutter down too. Clear bins are also great for kids toys so they can see what they have and play with them more. Thanks for sharing and validating! :)
Your videos came in my feed out of nowhere but I subscribed today as I’m organizing my house .. so many of these things came in handy thank you for the shares! ❤
I started storing sheet & towel sets in packing cubes (credit for the idea goes to Sally Combs - Lug). On the top shelf of the linen closet, I stack them vertically (like books). They stay put and it makes better use of that space that would otherwise go to waste.
I’m totally the same way, very skeptical of things until I see someone I trust rave about it 😅 then is when I believe. 😅 I totally respect and trust your judgment, will be looking to incorporate some of these organizing ideas. Btw, I just recently also bought my first air fryer, and idk why I waited this long. I totally love it now 🤭😆
We put the top, bottom and one pillow case, fold it, and stuff it into the remaining pillowcase - that way they are even more compact and don't fall apart if someone's rummaging through the closet. But with my kids' sheets - we just do a double fold, and slide them under their mattress - makes storing SO much easier - and we can still get 2 sets in between the mattress and box spring.
I do something similar to the sheet trick but I just put everything inside one of the pillow cases then kind of wrap it around. It literally becomes a package, and it hides the fact I'm not a very tidy folder :)
I store our bed sheets set in a sweater bag including the matching pillow cases, so they all stay together as a group, and they are see through bags, so it is easy to grab without opening each bag to see which style sheets I want to use at that time. I fold them nice and flat, folded just little smaller than the inner dimensions of the bag, so they store uniform and stackable, one sweater bag on top of each other. I've been doing this method for years.
Decanting it awesome, and level it up by taking weighed empty jars to a bulk refillery and save even more hassle because you fill the jar exactly and then you don't even have to do the decanting from packets. More eco friendly, slightly more work up front but much easier and quicker at the end of the process - take it home and stick it on the shelf and job done! and thanks for the kick up the butt - i finally did some file folding and have SO much extra space in my drawers. awesome ;)
78 years old with a touch of arthritis in my thumbs, I find those bags with the zip lock style closure very difficult to deal with. (The bags are stiffer than regular zip lock baggies.) I love your resistance to viral organization! I too am a rebel without a clue in that I'm never reading what everyone is reading. I either read it before it became "the thing" or I will read it five years after the hype dies down. I know it's silly.
My Nana taught me the horizontal folding for drawers and bed linens as a kid! Labelling is amazing, everyone knows where to put things.
Great ideas; I am happy to say that I need very few organizing bins because I got rid of so much these past 2 1/2 yrs.
That right there is the best! Well done!
I love the speed of your brain and speech! Thanks for always having such informative content. 🤩
@@bethheerten1132 I do the same thing.
Goo Gone/Goof Off are must haves for me!
Love the idea of decanting. Make everything look so much nicer/cleaner. Now days there are so many recalls how do you now if you have recall products if you don't have the original package?
Same! I just bought a $40 air fryer and I’m totally obsessed 😍 I would love a link to the rolling storage bins.
I've been folding & storing my sheet sets like this for years. So great. No more frustration on finding the matching pillowcase or fitted sheet.
I may have to rethink my organizational ideas for my kitchen now. Going to switch to the clear acrylic bins.
You have become one of my favorite youtubers. Love the style of your videos and how you keep it real! 🥰
I have resisted decanting because I never understood how you bought the exact right sized containers. Now I get it!! Thank you!!
i just bought rectangular study nice containers from my supermarket at the corner of the street. i can stack up to 4 of the small ones, 2 mediums or 1 big + 1 small. it’s just perfect! and i can buy extra containers when i go shopping for groceries. i can buy single containers, and not a 12 pack. i need one more medium? i grab one! i use them in my pantry and also for leftover food in the fridge, to freeze cooked food and as my bento boxes! they are so useful and versatile 🥰 leak proof, microwaveable, freezer safe, stackable, clear, dishwasher safe. just GOD SENT! i fit so much more products into my pantry now and nothing falls into my face when i look for something. and it keeps my pantry bug free!!!!!
@@BlondeQtie where do you get the nice containers? is it a specific brand?
So many great ideas but the flip top containers are a game changer. They made me rethink so many spaces.
Plus, I love, love, love the rug you folded the sheets on + folding the sheets, AWESOME 😎 🤩 👏
I have benefitted from your work for years and just owe at least a word of gratitude. THANKYOU SO MUCH.
I love when things I have done my whole life or my mom showed me become trendy 😁
One thing I did for my special needs daughter: her shirts are in cubby bins.
Decanting food also makes buying from the less expensive bulk bins easier!
The method of putting lids on your storage containers is great - but prefer to stack them up by sizes rather than putting them in bins.
Yes, I store with lids on and stack. Whatever does not fit in cupboard stacked, goes away!
I actually put outfits folded into each other so there is no time spent looking for matches or wondering if you will have a top that matches that particular bottom. And I only shop in outfits, not singles. Clothes are the hardest to keep on top of for me, especially with 3 kids and this simplifies my life so much!
I absolutely love it when you share! You always keep it real. Thank you
Your makeup is always very pretty, but I especially think this lip color- looks fabulous on you!
Same here, I’d love to know where you got those clear drawer-like bins for kids snacks!
Yes I can't find the bins she mentioned with wheels anywhere on her Amazon affiliate link page..
Great video!! I gotta try the linen tip, I currently roll them in a ball and shove 😮
I saw a tip long ago about folding up the sheets and putting them INSIDE the matching pillowcase. It works.
@@curiouscitizen4098 I admire your executive functioning, but I do not have enough of my own to do the pillowcase trick
Lmao I did this for too long but we get too many people coming to stay and i could never find sheet sets 😂😂 it was time

@@curiouscitizen4098 I do this as well, really works.
Girl, same with the air fryer 🤣 I was like a have an oven I don't need other appliance, now I find myself "cooking" on in half of the week.🤭
Sheet hack is great, I learned that when I worked at a B & B and laundry.
I didn’t know it was a trend but baskets for food storage is wonderful!
I love the idea of the snack bins, I will definitely try!
Putting a sheet set plus one pillowcase inside the matching pillowcase has been a game changer! So much neater!
Lol.
Hey Kallie, I just wanted to say "Thank You So Much!". I love your playlist!
Awesome video! I too am a skeptic with some of the hyped up things. Did the same with the air fryer. Love it now!
I did all my drawers in my bedroom. I love my drawers now as everything and colors so much easier to find!! Thank you!!
Love the overstock bin idea👏👏💜
Totally agree with the bins! Moved house recently and hubby wanted to by bins and organize the kitchen before we unpacked and I was like "No. I want to see what mess we need to fix after everything is unpacked".
Buy a bin for a mess, not make a mess for a bin
I like folding my matching bed sheets together and then wrapping the bundle in one of the matching pillow cases 💕
I love it when you make up words, "paper clipper" 🤣 it keeps me listening. 🐰
Many years ago, my son (who was a teen at the time) reorganized my dresser drawers with the file folding technique. I was an instant convert.
Folding sheets bonus hack, instead of putting them inside the flat sheet, I put everything inside one inside out pillow case. That way the flat sheet stays clean!
I store my sheet sets in one of the pillow cases of the set. It makes life so much easier.
You are so good! I love the reality you provide. You always seem to provide a fresh perspective. (And you keep it short!)
I can ALWAYS use organization tips! Thank you!
I would recommend clutterbug. Like you, Cas it utterly lovely and speaks about different organising styles visual/ non visual, macro/ micro.
for the sheets I almost follow the same ,have for years but I take the pillowcase and store all matching and folded sets instead of the top sheet, really helps if you have kids that go tearing thru the closet looking for something lol
I loved organizing my pantry. The seasoning part was a little frustrating but once I got the system done, it has been easier.
My daughter taught me to put the sheets together inside one of the pillow cases. Great idea!
Yes this video was helpful! Keep the organization and budgeting videos coming.
Loved it! Especially the bins and laundry
I still don't have an air fryer!!! Love these systems. I decanter our produce. We used to waste a lot. Thanks for the tips!!!
Clear bins are also great for people with ADHD like me, who have similar struggles to children when it comes to “out of sight, out of mind.” ;)
I like your separate area for overflow in pantry items. I have this for plates, glasses etc separate from day to day use.
Love your videos! I’m always happy to see your new videos pop up. Such helpful tips!
Your videos came in my feed out of nowhere but I subscribed today as I’m organizing my house .. so many of these things came in handy thank you for the shares! ❤
“Reckless” 😂😂😂 Happy Father’s Day to the dad’s in your lives 💕
I started storing sheet & towel sets in packing cubes (credit for the idea goes to Sally Combs - Lug). On the top shelf of the linen closet, I stack them vertically (like books). They stay put and it makes better use of that space that would otherwise go to waste.
I’m totally the same way, very skeptical of things until I see someone I trust rave about it 😅 then is when I believe. 😅 I totally respect and trust your judgment, will be looking to incorporate some of these organizing ideas. Btw, I just recently also bought my first air fryer, and idk why I waited this long. I totally love it now 🤭😆
I have been doing the sheet fold bundle for years. I now roll them together, jellyroll style. Less creasing and easier to stack in the closet.
I do the same thing with sheet set folding, but I put it all into the pillow case. Neat and sweet and always in a set! Thanks for.all.youndo.and share
More eco friendly, slightly more work up front but much easier and quicker at the end of the process - take it home and stick it on the shelf and job done! and thanks for the kick up the butt - i finally did some file folding and have SO much extra space in my drawers. awesome ;)
I fold my sheets and one pillowcase. Then put them neatly inside the second pillowcase and fold the edge over for a tidy package
78 years old with a touch of arthritis in my thumbs, I find those bags with the zip lock style closure very difficult to deal with. (The bags are stiffer than regular zip lock baggies.) By transferring the contents to a container with a snug lid it's easier on my hands and the right container keeps food fresh longer.
I used to fold my sheets and then put everything into one of the pillowcases, but this idea takes up less room!
Same here the pillowcase takes less time too. - mom of two under 5.
