I ran to the end of a rainbows arch, there wasn't any pot of gold. And there I found a new friend who's two feet tall, one hundred and four years old. Glomer is an orphan, he was left behind. And a lot like Punky, he is one of a kind. Punky Brewster. Come on, its just a fantasy, I know- uh-oh... Punky Brewster. I always want you here with me, I know- uh-oh... Punky Brewster. And no one is gonna understand. Punky Brewster. Together we're the best of friends. Punky Brewster. I always want you here with me, I know-uh-oh
So...wait...there's this orphan, and she found this magic groundhog which was living inside an alternate dimension in a rainbow that looked like 14th century Ireland? Man, the eighties were a hell of a drug!
What's worse is that she took him away from his home in that rainbow, and there was one episode where it looked like he was going to go back there, but it disappeared before he could reach it. To a child, that is just heart-breaking to see.
The good old days of watching Saturday morning cartoons. can never forget those days, that's for sure. I had a few favorites i enjoyed watching back then. Like punky Brewster, gobots, transformers, Voltron defender of the universe, m.a.s.k, Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, sky commanders, GI Joe, Dino riders, shirt tails, The snorks, Dennis the menace and ThunderCats. I have to say we were so spoiled back then and had a lot of cartoons to watch. But then the '90s came and sometime they all just automatically stoped and no longer on television, which was a shame by the way. If only we could go back in time. I know that's not possible
This was such a theme in the 80s. kid discovers strange creature, they become friends, has to hide creature from grownups. so many shows did this. I guess they were riding the wave of ET
It's Punky Brewster was produced by Ruby-Spears and NBC Productions. It was later acquired by DIC Animation City (Inspector Gadget), and also aired under the "DiC" banner of shows, when the show was syndicated as a revolving feature of Maxie's World during the 1989-1990 season.
Like everybody else I grew up in the 1980s + I enjoyed & loved watching Punky Brewster the TV series. Then when they did the Punky Brewster cartoons oh my goodness. I thought the cartoons was truly amazingly awesome and the coolest as well. I wish that they had continued to do the Punky Brewster cartoons. Like all seriously I was more into the Punky Brewster cartoon than the actual TV series. I don't know why but I was. Yes I'm still a big fan of the Punky Brewster cartoon yet. Anyway I just had a idea don't know if it's good or bad one. So here it goes I think they should do a entire collection of Punky Brewster cartoons and put them on Blu-ray disc as I anniversary edition type thing. If they would ever do that I don't know. Anyway I would love to see them bring back the Punky Brewster cartoons. That'll happen who knows today.
As a vintage cartoon buff, I can say this show is somewhat mid. That said, the fact this series starred a foster child is remarkable. Additionally, Punky's Christmas episode (though badly written) introduced a seldom-used if not unique concept (Santa trying to stop Christmas from coming early).

I looooooved this opening song🤗💯🤗 it was such a good feel song. I miss the 80's and early 90's
Every Saturday morning I tuned into Punky Brewster eating cereal... LOL... Ahhhh, the 80's!
SAME HERE!
I just love how quintessentially 80s this theme song sounds. I miss the 80s.
Shuki Levy and Haim Saban's music was often like that!
Glomer was a cross between a chipmunk, squirrel and teddy bear 😂❤
Did not know we had Glomer before Stitch, same voice, refers to himself as the third person. I wonder if the idea of Stitch came from him?
Quite a few characters had this 'Slimer' voice in the 80s, though not all spoke in third-person.

Jackalope from that gosh awful “America’s Funniest People”.

OMG you just made me shriek with laughter. I'm crying.
dude u had me dying bro lol
And yet never once thought about utilizing said magic to find out whatever happened to her parents.
I'm sorry guys I messed up the timeline

The woman singing this song puts so much effort into explaining Punky and Gloomer's friendship. N-No ones gonna understa-hand!
That's Cyndi Lauper, man. She'd sing her own grocery list like her life depended on it.
I'm sure she also sang girls just want to have fun.
yea its Cyndi Lauper I woulda thought some 80's singer who was a one hit wonder
liked her Goonies song.
No way, she totally doesn't sound like Cyndi.
This makes me miss the 80s so very much!!😢😢 I loved Solile Moon Frye..as an actress and Punky Brewster!! Both series 📺 water 💦 🌈
This theme song makes me happy

Glomer: Oh boy!

keeping eye on TV!
Great theme song.
I had a small crush on her once when I was quite young.

I LOVED IT
Was making tv shows into weird cartoons some sort of trend in the 70s and 80s? Because they did something similar with the brady bunch.

Was the Live action sitcom better than the cartoon?
Richard Sturtevant Mhm.

+KLONDIKE The sitcom came first.
