Guys, how do you like this use of a piece of steel beam? By the way, I have one more piece left.
Do you have any ideas what interesting things can be done?

For a switch get a float switch from a trash pump cut off the float and get a foot switch and attach it then plug the grinder in and plug it in to the extension cord

The reason nobody has done this before is chop saws are readily available and not that expensive. Nice build though!

They are expensive for people who don’t have money like that. Maybe you do but not everybody has a couple hundred dollars laying around. This is a great idea and can be made with scraps.

The tool you made is a compliment to the grinder. Retaining the accuracy of the grinder when attached to your fixture makes the repeatability reliable. Which is the difference between your build and retail items that are flimsey from light construction and unreliable angles being the product. You've made a legendary unit for proper fitting and setups to weld.

As for the remote power switch, install a junction box to the beam, with a 3conductor cord, an outlet to plug the grinder in & a switch to turn it on and off. Had a similar situation, built a portable table for my mini disc/belt sander on one end, 6" dual bench grinder on the other. I made the choice to hardwire both to the JB because they both had switches. So I added two outlets to the box.

For an external switch I think I would add an electrical box with one plug socket for the cord and a switch where the other socket would ordinarily be. That should be available at home centers. For 120 volt appliances you should be able to run a cord from the switch box to a standard wall plug. Nice video.
