My brother composed and arranged the piece. My family sang it along with Eurielle.
Please no bad language in the comments. We want this to be family friendly:) Thank you!
Lyrics:
Song of the Mounds of Mundburg:
We heard of the horns in the hills ringing,
the swords shining in the South-kingdom,
Steeds went striding to the Stoningland
as wind in the morning. War was kindled.
There Théoden fell, Thengling mighty,
to his golden halls and green pastures
in the Northern fields never returning,
high lord of the host. Harding and Guthláf,
Dúnhere and Déorwine, doughty Grimbold,
Herefara and Herubrand, Horn and Fastred,
fought and fell there in a far country:
in the Mounds of Mundburg under mould they lie
with their league-fellows, lords of Gondor.
Neither Hirluin the Fair to the hills by the sea,
nor Forlong the old to the flowering vales
ever, to Arnach, to his own country
returned in triumph; nor the tall bowmen,
Derufin and Duilin, to their dark waters,
meres of Morthond under mountain-shadows.
Death in the morning and at day's ending
lords took and lowly. Long now they sleep
under grass in Gondor by the Great River
Grey now as tears, gleaming silver,
red then it rolled, roaring water:
foam dyed with blood flamed at sunset;
as beacons mountains burned at evening;
red fell the dew in Rammas Echor. - Видеоклипы
“There Théoden fell,” as he did today. RIP Bernard Hill.
Theoden King returns to his fathers. Rest in peace Bernard Hill and thank you for the memories.
“Long now they sleep under grass in Gondor”
Amazing how something said so simple can be so epic.
May the sleep of the heroes be one of peace and honour.
The Professor would, I rather hope, approve mightlily. That was beautifully done.
The names of those who fell during the Battle of Pelennor Fields are a reminder that, even if we don't know much about them, these were all Men who fought for both their lords and their lands, regardless if anyone remembered them.
When the Day came, that Men were faced with Terror and Death, their Courage did not Fail! When the Wolves came, and their Shields were Shattered, the Age of Men stood Strong! That day, they Fought!

Thank you so much! I really do love everything that you do for your listeners, and I'm thankful that you've taken the time to consider what best course of action would be appropriate for this situation. Much love, from a brother in Christ and a fellow enjoyer of Tolkien's works!
Beautiful music and amazing collaboration. Thank you!
This is art of the highest caliber!
Enjoyed it a lot ❤️
This song is amazing! Thank you for sharing all this wonderfull music with us! :liebe:
The blood of Númenor still sung true!
I have somehow never noticed that this song is in Old English alliterative verse! It even alliterates on vowels! Ahh it's amazing.
Also in the line starting with "returned in triumph..." You see the alliteration falls on the "t" of "reTurned" similar to the Leiden Riddle (Riddle 35/33) with "ne Wat ic mec beWorhtne Wulle flysum..."
Absolutely amazing poem.
Well, it was written by a literal master of English 😊
Yey! Finally!
Red fell the dew in Rammas Echor.
When I had heard about the collab with Eurielle I was a tad worried, since many of her interpretations of Tolkien's songs aren't quite my cup (stuff like Luthien's Lament aside), but here I'd say her voice works.
Glad you like it!
Fealty kept they, and, fate defying,
Hope they rekindled and in hope ended;
Over death, over dread, over doom lifted,
Out of loss, out of life, unto long glory.
Great work as always! I'm surprised that anyone would be unhappy about such a collaboration, since both you and Eurielle have done stellar covers of Tolkien's work in the past. I'm really glad you all decided to go ahead with the song!
Y’all are both basically my favorite artist and composers of LOTR rendition. So EPIC.
3:58
Giedd sculon singan gléomenn sorgiende;
Bealocwealm hafað fréone frecan forþ onsended.
A song shall be sung by sorrowing minstrels;
For baleful fate hath banished the hero.
Thank you
I love how you can hear the nordic influence on the language here, love what Tolkien did with the Rohirric language.
The collaboration I didn't realize I needed. Eurielle and Clamavi de Profundis have my favorite covers of any Tolkien poems, and having both of you together on one piece is amazing. 👏🏻 Hit the "like" button before even listening haha
Don't forget Yolanda Mott's Tolkien covers!
Clamavi De Profundis does a spectacular job as usual.
A beautiful piece of art!
I absolutely love this! I’ve been reading the books to my wife (she’s legally blind thanks to Albinism) and she loves it when I get to the different songs because I learned to sing them thanks to you guys. Whether it was the Song of Beren and Lúthien, the Ent’s Marching Song, The Song of Durin, the Lament of Boromir, or the Lament of the Rohirrim, I learned to sing them to add more to the storytelling, and I have you all to thank for that. Now I’ve got one more for when we get to this part in Return of the King. :)
On a side note, I have a request I think you guys would be well suited for. I’ve been through your works based on Tolkien’s poems and noticed many themes among them: Elvish songs, Dwarvish ones, a couple Hobbit ones, and a few Rohirric. Do you guys think you could come up with something that fits a more Gondorian/Arnorian/Reunited Kingdom theme? It could be your own composition, but I feel like something blending the Seven Stars of Arnor and the White Tree of Gondor would be fitting. Maybe something with that iconic background music as Faramir rides to Osgiliath before Pippin sings. Again these are just pieces of ideas from a fan, and I encourage you to make up your own minds on it and about it. Thank you all for all that you do. Galo Anor erin râd lin!
Karliene did a perfect original song for the lament of boromir and she also did Galadriels Song of Eldamar as well as Of Beren and Luthien!
That is actually adorable
You're doing what I've always of dreamed of being able to do. I tried to get my now soon to be ex-wife to let me read them to her but she never had any interest in LOTR. But I've learned how to sing most of the songs in LOTR (this is the last long one I need to learn), and I keep practicing them for myself whenever I can. I'm most proud of learning to sing the lay of Earindil by heart. Took me the better part of half a year to memorize it but I did and I now I love singing it to myself whenever I'm doing chroes around the house or out on a walk. Maybe one day I'll be able to read and sing to someone else as well. Here's hoping. Until then...I guess I'll keep practicing.
This is hands down the best rendition of the Mounds of Mundburg. You really capture the solemn tragedy of the battle of Pelennor. Hearing the roll of names of the dead was indescribable.
halbarad died too :(
Many authors write songs about war. Usually they are about glory in battle.
Tolkien was at the Somme. He had seen war. He gave honor to the dead, not glory to battle itself.
You can tell which authors have seen friends die in battle. This song is beautiful.
Tolkien Ensemble can’t be beat on this one. But CDP did a great job too.
Just when I read the passage that Halbarad, Hirluin, Duilin and his brother, Hirluin and Grimbold and Grimslade were dead I started to weep. May they be at peace
I don't care what anyone says, its epic to see you collaborating with other Tolkien enthusiasts on RUclips. I don't really get what's so negative about that.
Oh man, this is such a gut-punch. Tolkien really was a master of melancholy.
Aragorn and Éomer and Imrahil rode back towards the Gate of the City, and they were now weary beyond joy or sorrow. These three were unscathed, for such was their fortune and the skill and might of their arms, and few indeed had dared to abide them or look on their faces in the hour of their wrath. But many others were hurt or maimed or dead upon the field. The axes hewed Forlong as he fought alone and unhor sed; and both Duilin of Morthond and his brother were trampled to de ath when they assailed the mûmakil, leading their bowmen close to sho ot at the eyes of the monsters. Neither Hirluin the fair would return to Pinnath Gelin, nor Grimbold to Grimslade, nor Halbarad to the Nor thlands, dour-handed Ranger. No few had fallen, renowned or name less, captain or soldier; for it was a great battle and the full count of it no tale has told. So long afterward a maker in Rohan said in his song of the Mounds of Mundburg:
Wonderful job! Eurielle's "Lúthien's Lament" was one of the songs that led me to looking for more Lord of the Rings music, which led me to you! Thank you for posting this. It was incredible.
For King Theoden, mightiest of the Kings of Rohan. May he forever rest in peace
No you were right to post this. It is another masterpiece and makes my day every time I hear it
It's interesting that though this song is a song of remembrance, it's not a dirge. Hail the victorious dead, indeed!
Really awesome. I'm grateful that you've chosen beauty over fear.
When you play Lotro this song has an entirely new depth. Great job as always !
Definitely sounds like a lament for a fallen warrior-king.
Another masterpiece, it feels like I'm there listening to the Rohirrim sing it. Thank You for your music!
Literally tho!!! Eurielle makes the perfect Eowyn in this case.... XD
I cannot believe you actually did it! There is not a greater gift for a simple old man like myself on a Saturday morning. May your beards never grow short!
Transcendent. I love how well her warm and yet somehow ethereal higher register complements ya'll's bass. Things like the catalogues of names really drive home how much Tolkien ate, slept and breathed Anglo-Saxon poetry. Feels like something out of Beowulf.
2:03 - 2:13 is my favourite part from this song. The sound of Rohan's Theme is so distinct and beautiful... The Eorlingas are truly magnificent.
The entirety of the Mark and those who settled in these lands, known as the Land of Rohan, is highly interesting
This is FIRE! I absolutely love the song, I hope you do more collaborations with her!
Don't know why some people have been complaining about this collab? It's epic and beautiful and I love it!
who is complaining ?
@@wolffrdu6463 Don't know, they mentioned it in the description. The song was streamed a couple of days ago and then taken off from YT and I missed the reason behind all this. I'm glad it's here now.
@@wolffrdu6463 Some idiots complained about eurielle dressing ,,immodestly" in her videos and doing ,,satanic" stuff.

Wow that is amazing, guys!! You and Eurielle are my favorite Tolkien's music covers, and I'm so happy and pleased to hear a collab of yours!! Keep with this incredible work!
“I go now to my fathers… in whose mighty company I shall not now feel ashamed.”
I don’t see why anyone didn’t like this it sounds great to me!
my two favorite artists. doing a LotR collab. and it's beautiful.
This makes me WAY too happy.
I seriously don't understand how people could not like this ? What's wrong with them. This is another masterpice of art and Eurielle's voice is something magical!
Tolkien would be proud.
As an atheist who loves CDP, especially their Tolkien and Catholic work, Im happy to see that Eurielle and CDP were able to get past whatever nonsense there was. Cheers all round.
Once again, brought to tears.
Thank you for uploading this video! Beautiful as always! God bless and I can’t wait to see what masterpieces you make next!
This is one of the best covers you have made of Tolkien's work.
You can really feel that sorrow, both in text and in melody
Heureuse que vous l’ayez postée à nouveau car je n’avais pas eu le temps de l’écouter la première fois. Une merveilleuse collaboration. Merci! :)
Can someone explain to me, why anyone should object to this collaboration? Even though I do not happen to like all of Eurielle's versions of Tolkien's songs, that doesn't mean I can't realize, what a wonderful voice she has. Thank you for doing this lesser known song! All the best to you! ❤
Something small and petty like her dress in one of her videos/thumbnail by trolls pretending to be concerned Christians.
and here her voice becomes part of the whole as opposed to standalone
I have no clue why anyone would object! It's a beautiful collaboration!
@@FrostyFyre That's dumb. They should worry much more about Clamavi de Profundis' voice waken something up.

Wait, negative comments? What were people complaining about? I mean, this is briliant.
Me seeing a new song from CdP: oh, sweet!
Me, seeing it features Eurielle too: OH, SWEET
I have literally no idea why anyone would be unhappy about the collaboration, but I'm glad you have posted this song - I'm always amazed by your art!
Ok this turned out to be more awesome than I thought. This is my second favorite song of yours now after the battle between Finrod and Sauron.
Thank you so much for posting this! You are both such incredible artists and this has made my week!!!!
One could think it was the song of the Ainur themselves. Beautiful as always
I look forward to every month. You guys are by far my favourite group to listen to!!
By Durin's beard, amazing. Clamavi and Eurielle, both of you are so good I've been listening for years, thank you!
Why do people complain about this ? they sing for us and for free
Great job by the way
No need to apologize for the wait, you are always worth the wait 😂
And don't listen to the negativity, pessimists gonna be pessimistic even when a gem is placed in front of them. Just a loud minority crying for attention
I love how this is exactly the way that song would have been sung were it real, giving the dead the greatest gift it could give - remembering.
I'm really glad you guys decided to upload it after all! I went and looked up Eurielle's channel when people started leaving all the negative comments and got *really* annoyed quickly because apparently now all people need to be do to be considered "satanic" (at least to the angry commenters) is wear a slightly lighter colored dress and in a different pose than they want you to (like how people got angry at my undergrad university for having a spring dance actually called a "dance" when they weren't allowed to...in the 50s and 60s...xD). As a Christian myself I want to drop kick those angry commentors down a flight of stairs (lol), and I respect you guys so much more for deciding to post it! You're one of my favorite music groups, and I'm excited to hear both this song and whatever you come out with next! Thanks a ton-y'all are the best!
"Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not."

WWJD is something that many Christians need to sit down and honestly ask themselves more often.
I don’t get why some Christians don’t like dancing I mean I know the teasing John the Baptist and all but they just forget that David danced for joy (and cursed his wife to infertility or something when she criticized him)
I don't understand why there would be any negative comments or feedback to this collaboration. In my mind, this sounds wonderful!
Brought tears to my eyes, as is right.
I was so afraid I would never hear this! Thank you for reuploading
yoooo a CdP/Eurielle collab? Today just got a lot better
Thank you for re-uploading! I couldn't listen it the first time
Fantastic! Shaw's rohirim theme is a favourite of mine, since it never would've occurred to me to use strings rather than horns for the riders of the Mark.
My wife and I've loved all of your music, so please continue making it.
You are all very talented artists. Don't pay attention to all those negative trolls. Just wait until dawn turns them into stone.
I have no words to thank you guys enough. Thank you guys for making my reading experience much more rich and emotionally accurate.
FINALLY!!!! This is the first LotR song I learned.

I love your music. Unbelievably beautiful.
I have just listened to this for the first time and thought it was exquisite., A fantastic collaboration for a really beautiful song. I'm staggered to read that you took it down due to negative comments.. simply ridiculous that there is so much vitriol out there. Thanks very much for putting it up again..
I'm your biggest fan ever! I listen to your songs for at least 2 hours everyday! 51.500 minutes on Spotify in 2021! 🔥🔥

What you all are doing with Tolkien's poetry is exceptional. What a fantastic collaboration!
This is absolutely beautiful! I listen to all your songs on repeat so much, and this is another one to add to the playlist!
Yessss! Finally! I've been looking forward to this for soo long! 😍
My only critique is that you guys should have done the collab sooner. Well done and bravo!!
I've been waiting and hoping for this one! Thank you so much. The lament always gives feels whether I read it or listen
Glad y'all decided to post it! Sounds very good! Was getting worried at first when the premiere was pulled and there was no word.
If y'all want to collaborate in the future, hit me up! 😆😅
This is beautiful. So glad you did this collaboration together! Thank you for keeping the video up. I’m not sure what those people were complaining about. Not everyone in the world is going to dress like a nun. Beautiful music, beautiful vocals, beautiful people with beautiful souls. Thank you for bringing this into existence ❤️
I do not know when last I was so excited for a song!

I got chills, it's so hauntingly beautiful. This is one of my favorite Tolkien poems, I've been hoping you would set it to music for a while now. The song is everything I hoped for and more, Eurielle's part is lovely. Thank you ❤️
I'm so sorry, but I was unable to hold my tears. Your work is just beautiful. I fell like I'm traveling back to Middle-Earth once more.
I heard this the other day and my jaw dropped.
I think the reverence CDP puts into their art is kin to the reverence Tolkien put into his, as such their works are kindred, and the world more beautiful and kind for it.
My two favourite Middle Earth song makers collaborating, this is fantastic! I'm so happy that you've worked together. I was so excited when I saw the preview on Eurielle's channel. This is beautiful. I hope you do more collaborations in future.
Who the heck would have negative comments to say about this? I can't fathom it.
Very nice, great to hear CDP collaborating with Eurielle!
why would anyone be against this collab? As most already pointed out both of you have done an amazing job with Tolkien's work before, and this one is no different!
Long have I waited for this great collaboration.
It's a beautiful colab, thank you! I love your music, and have also enjoyed Eurielle's music for years now (I subscribe to both your channels, and was excited to see the premier announcement.) Anyone who dislikes this is crazy.
Nice song!
This is fantastic! Thanks so much for doing this collaboration
This makes me so happy! Absolutely splendid job. You captured the mode of the poem perfectly. Thank you so much for putting all this hard work into the piece; God Bless! :)
If anything, these poem/songs would have fit even better in the movies then in the books. You can have them playing during the more scenic, quiet scenes when the characters were walking or mourning, instead of the orchestral music that played.
You guys always make feel something, it’s really beautiful to think about sacrifice when it’s for such a noble purpose. Good job calamavi de prefondis and eurielle, thank you.
