I like how Norman learns that Peter is Spider-Man before Norman even becomes the Green Goblin. It's another way for the Goblin to be the first foe to discover Peter's identity.
I'm curious to see what Norman's motives will be with Peter, Tony took him under his wing because he saw that Peter had potential to be a great hero, but Norman's reasons will likely be shady and manipulative.
whats weird is that marvel comics did a storyline where peter was being mentored by norman where after norman is tooked back normal he tries to reach out to peter both offering a job and giving spider tech made by oscorp. the run ended recently and it was mostly controversel due to the writer and editor making a sad man spiderman. while also talking down to theie audience
during the fight during the first episode with the live stream, when spider-man hangs the guys up, theres a comment on the stream from Screwball, one of the most annoying spidey villians, especially in the PS4 spider-man games, to go check out her stream instead, which is what she does in the game
10:40 "implying that the police often make young black men feel unsafe and uncomfortable due to them being profiled as criminals which often lead to harassment, brutality, or worse" is what that scene actually meant.
We as a people just have to accept wholeheartedly that they don’t experience these types of profiling, brutality or harassment..therefore we have to accept that they will never understand why their greatest ally’s are our greatest enemies.
Seriously. How he could get anything else from that scene makes no sense to me. It seemed pretty obvious. I didn't see a young black man who may make a heel turn. I saw a kid trying to walk home get followed by an obviously racist cop... Maybe that's just me, though.... 🙄
exactly!! This scene was very sad and good, it meant exactly that. Racial profiling, police always doing that in US and everywhere else. I dont know why they didnt comment this.
@unidentified2117 Oh yeah that theme is bangin for sure. But I mean the original MCU theme before Homecoming. It sounds way more heroic than what he has now lol
9:55 during this scene he saves a car from hitting a bus and it looks like the same moment in the video that tony was showing to peter on his phone in peters room in captain America civil war:) 9:56
We get foreshadowing of Nico Minoru's magical potential in the opening fight, when at one point the symbiote searches for Dr. Strange and notices Nico's aura shining brightest instead, thus drawing its attention.
4:50 Strange is most likely talking about the fact they’re fighting near a school which is heavily populated with students at the moment so he doesn’t really want to be fighting there
Ok. The mix of the OG spiderman theme. The quasi 60s animation with the heavy black outlines, I really liked that look. It looks dated but is really advanced. The tear in aunt mays eye. So much to say. The really convincing detail for me, that this was absolutely made by Gen X for Gen Xers was the inclusion of the word Rad spoken by Pearl. Nobody says Rad anymore. Great detail imo.
Civil War no? They also recreated the video Tony had of Peter with the bus -- they obviously animated that sequence before they decided to change the canonicity of this show.
@nicholasfactor I really dont think that's true. They wouldn't have changed the canonicity midway through the animation process. Thats something that would require them to rewrite the show's entire script and re-record a ton of dialog. Animation is one of the last steps, as they have to animate the characters' mouths lining up to the voices they recorded speaking lines in the script they wrote. The bus scene was just an homage to show this is a parellel universe to the mcu, like the re-creation of the Tony meeting scene but with Norman
I thought the first two episodes were really good. The animation took a few minutes to get used to but the show is a lot of fun. The scene outside the pizza shop was 100% Spider-Man
Same the aniowas messing wit me for a sec but then once I realized it meant to resemble a comic book it was fine. I actually like how there attention to detail in everything. It looks like a real life comic if that makes sense
As soon as I saw Peter changing in the stairway, I knew there had to be a camera and it would come back on him somehow…I didn’t think it would be this quick….
At first i thought it was weird to age down tombstone since he is an adult villain and has a grudge on both spiderman and robbie robertson , but since we are seeing divergence between peter and lonnie. it make sense this his origin story as well. I liked that they touched upon the racism that he faces without being over stepping or being weird like louder prouder.
I didn't think Dr. Strange used Astral Projection because that would have left his physical body open to damage. Imo, It was a phase type or intangible style spell that allows his physical body to phase like your examples of shadow cat or Vision.
Just a little FYI, 125th St. in New York City is Harlem, which is essentially very large black community. This scene is beautiful because it really portrays that he lives in “the hood“ and as a person of color often has a difficult upbringing as well as being harassed by police. 10:48
9:01 there was a comment after the fight that said "y'all got beat up by a guy in hockey pads" and personally I think that's a reference to the dark knight and the famous "I'm not wearing hockey pads" line
I'm sure someone else mentioned this, but I'm too lazy to read every response. The Symbote which Dr. Strange fights looks like the one bonded with Sergei Kravinoff (Kravin the Hunter, Earth-19529) in the comics.
So you missed that the way Spiderman stops the rogue car from hitting the bus is exactly the same as in the youtube video that Stark shows to Tom Holland in Civil War?
I think Norman already knew peter is spidy but also know that he wont be able to convince peter to work for him like how Tony did. So he made peter come to his turf to catch him red handed and maybe manipulate or blackmail him to do his tasks.
One of the student interns that you left out. 10:38 is the avengers academy character finesse. she has powers like comic book taskmaster and implied to be his daughter. the joke she makes about forgetting peter is a reference to how both her and taskmaster power allows them to remember people through copy their talents. its implied the more they learn parts of their memories get erased.
I really like that Victor from fear The walking Dead is voicing Norman Osborne and I just now noticed his speaking voice kind of sounds like William Dafoe so it's perfect
@11:00, those help wanted signs made me think it would be her or Parker that ends up working their. Cuz you just Know Parker is going to lose his paid internship.
Wow, no mention of the fact that Doc. Strange uses the time stone to try and reverse the effects of the damage caused by Venom or that we kinda see Uncle Ben in a picture frame in episode 2. Also, that villan in episode 2 is Steven Hudak, aka the Scorcher, much like the Shocker, who uses fire instead of sound waves

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two episodes, they established the Spider-Man that we know and love, but with elements that are fresh and new. Also, I love the animation style as it's both unique and visually vibrant that unashamedly embraces the comic book aesthetic, I'm hyped for next week's episode.
The venom thing isn’t venom it’s Shathra a spider-verse villain who is the totem god of moths and believes herself to be the rightful ruler of the web of life and destiny.
Who else is going to get bit by the spider though? It clearly shows the spider crawling into someone else's backpack but doesn't show who. Silk origin perhaps?
I am 100% certain that Osborn knew he was Spider-Man from their 1st meeting. He's just using the CC footage to lull him into a false sense of security.
I think it’s more better that this series is semi-canon to the MCU it’s kinda fun piecing all the puzzles together and we can still have an all original story for Spider-Man
I feel for me the break away from the MCU timeline into this alternate one isn't Peter meeting Osborn, its Peter not going to Midtown High where it sets things in motion.
So he got the spider bite AFTER Uncle Ben died. I wonder if that means he didn't let the guy who killed him go first. Maybe they just won't touch on that, but it's usually why he does what he does, blaming himself for not doing what he should have to prevent Ben's death.
The beginning of the closing credits music sounds like a tribute to the syndicated 1981 Spider Man cartoon theme song. Listen to the first few notes and listen to after the original theme when the announcer says "Spider Man" in that show. Nice touch
One mistake at 10:48 - The cops following the guy home does not imply that his neighborhood is riddled with crime; it implies that it's riddled with over-policing like many black and brown neighborhoods.
@@stringkill70 Talking about the theme you hear during the *end* credits not the opening theme. The very start of it sounds like it's taken from Spider-Man (1981). I think Ryan is wrong to suspect that Dr Strange is from another dimension. Strange's magic can't travel the multiverse. They made that pretty clear in Multiverse of Madness where it was America Chavez doing all the multiverse portal opening and Strange having to dreamwalk in his zombie body to interact with the universe Wanda was in at the end.
Besides a couple lines here and there, I think this is the best Spider-Man on screen we’ve had since no way home. I’m really loving this show and the only Spiderman releasing right now that’s better is ultimate Spiderman.
Jeanne (the intern w short hair) is also the hero Finesse she has the same mimic abilities as taskmaster and a photographic memory. Im pretty sure the comics teased her being taskmasters daughter but im not sure where that story lead lmao
What did you think of the first 2 episodes?
I loved them!
Not entirely sure yet. The Spider-Man parts were cool but when I seen Dr Connors I was like "hm 🫤"

Umm, Across the Spiderverse exists
@ with all due respect, I’m not really a fan of those two movies.

It's great fun.... Have we all just decided that spiderman is forever 15? Can't we ever get any proper grown up spiderman stuff anymore?
Are you worried that even if the eagles win or lose you may be dealing with riots?
Jeanne (the intern w short hair) is also the hero Finesse she has the same mimic abilities as taskmaster and a photographic memory. Im pretty sure the comics teased her being taskmasters daughter but im not sure where that story lead lmao
You forgot the scene where he stops the car from crashing into a bus, is the same that went viral in civil war in Tony’s phone
the 90s song was fire. i like the 90s better then the older version.
It’s so clever how marvel/sony are telling us and showing us their overarching plans
10:33 That's actually Yonge Street in Toronto. Just a little tid bit of trivia. 😉
I love these Easter eggs 😉🤩
Love Crusher Hogan reference
In the comics Lonnie Lincoln was Tombstone, who was high school friends with Robbie Robertson.
