- 🔎 FAQ: justinesmic.ca... i was looking for a youtube video to listen to while doing school work one day when i came across rafscrap's cover of "my lullaby" on my home page ( • "My Lullaby - The Lion... ). i clicked on the video and i just went??? oh shit??? i completely forgot that the lion king 2 existed??? and i somehow forgot that this song is a banger (made even MORE of a banger by raf's gorgeous performance)???
anyways, upon hearing her cover i HAD to sing it for myself. if you haven't been able to tell already, the existence of this cover is hugely inspired by raf's cover. i especially loved her art that she included in her video; i really like the image of a jaded, vengeful queen on the hunt for blood. this song was super fun to sing and act out, so i hope y'all enjoy!

This makes me picture a queen in the medieval ages who's king was killed, leaving her with a son to raise on her own. She deeply mourns the death of her love, and now with more power, she raises her son to be her knight to track down who she thinks killed him, crushing anyone who stands in her way under her heel, even her own children.
You just gave me a book idea.

I honestly never realized that the lion king songs could work for a medieval setting.
The Lion King is loosely based off of Hamlet and supposedly the sequel is loosely based off of Romeo and Juliet.

This is one of the MOST underrated villain song! Just look at the lyrics: "the battle may be bloody But that kind of works for me" "till he learns to be a KILLER" "our flag will fly against a blood-red sky" Simply chilling to the bone! Your calm approach to it is even more threatening sounding than Zira's intense one.❤
The entire movie and its soundtrack are underrated - I honestly think it's a sequel that surpasses the original in every way.

Let me then say this: The couple other "My Lullaby" covers I have listened to include Zeke's insult, "Sleep you little termite", just in the same voice as the rest of the song, making their take bluntly regard Jovi as an obnoxious tool
I like that you chose to instead replace the line by calling him an 'angel'. It sets the impression of loving Kovu even while intending to use him. That, in my opinion, is even more interesting and eerie than the original.
I commend you for this liberty you have taken.
I actually was inspired by Rafscrap's cover of this song. She was the one who made that change initially. :)

This was one of my all time favorite Disney movies as a kid. I liked the original, but this was the one that was stuck in my mind. “Be Prepared” slaps, but “My Lullaby” is better to me.

Be prepared is iconic, but My Lullaby is both It's own unique twist while still carrying the energy of the first song.

Honestly, this song feels like Cersei's theme after going into exile in Essos (In a AU where she was the one who married Rhaegar instead of Elia) with her son.

i didn't really like the ending of this cover because at the end, all the lions sang that part together, and became my favorite part because of that so that was pretty sad that this cover didnt have that.
