Just my opinion but I think they're on even grounds. They just have very different vibes with the OP being a more serious action style and the ED being more of an upbeat comedy style
So far I've seen Pokemon, Hellsing, Naruto, JoJo, and (my favorite) My Hero Academia versions, whether I've watched them or they're in the recommended section

I've been watching Kekkai Sensen around after it just came out, I never understood why it wasn't popular, the OST is one of the best I've ever heard, the characters are all great and interesting, the story is wonderfully bizarre as well

It's kind of impressive how they're able the capture most of the characters personalities without even saying a word except for the singers voice but that doesn't count

One of the three endings i've never skipped I honestly think its physically impossible for me to skip this ed, the vibe is too strong i just end up dancing every time
250midori I feel the same way. A lot of anime will have the characters move with perfect grace. Maybe every once in a while they'll trip or do something else for a gag, but it's rare to see animation that captures all the blunders of moving, and that's why I like this so much.
I feel stupid that it's taken me 3 weeks to finally realize why I thought *_Unison Square Garden_* was the perfect group to sing an opening or ending song for this show. I noticed this right away..probably because i live there. Its pretty exciting to see an anime take place in NY, they got alot of art and landscapes so right. And im guessing the park they were at in episode 5 was Central Park. Man I'm going to have fun. :D
Crimson Cimmerian I feel the same way! I live in NYC too, and they actually did a great job on making it look and feel like Manhattan, I guess in a sort of way it makes us feel special knowing that we've walked in the same places the characters in Kekkai Sensen have.

Usually the openings of shows have more views, but this is a rare occasion, especially since the OP is REALLY GOOD. But then again, THIS IS REALLY GOOD TOO.
The surprising thing is that this ed isn't even that spectacular in terms of animation, but the music and the synch, and the pure carefree chaoticness of the whole thing, just feels amazing. This is one of the rare eds which is just fun.

@@silvervirio3642 that's what makes it so good. The audience is just launched into whatever out of this world situation which Leo is and we have the privilege of just watching it play out (even if we don't quite get whats going on).
I think when watching the ending theme literally makes me want to binge the whole show all over again, you have created an awesome ending theme. Studio Bones shows once again how brilliant they are at making manga adaptations with Kekkai Sensen, and if they decided to make a season two I'd watch it in literally less than a heartbeat.
Also, watching this, you get an almost perfect representation of the character's personalities. Zapp is crazy and wacky, Klaus is more reserved, but still having fun, Chain is being stubborn, and messing with Zapp. Stephen is sweat dropping because KK is glaring and obviously upset to be dancing with him. And Gilbert is still proper and drinking his tea. Brody and Hummer are having a great time. Zed is uncomfortable with his master's display of power, and everyone's having a great time. And Leo. Leo's just having a blast. He's dancing with Sonic and having fun while also remembering his sister and what she did for him. Leo is one of my favorite anime character of all time, and his personality and history is so well conveyed in this ending theme of the MAIN CAST DANCING ON A STAGE TO A FUN ALT ROCK SONG! Also, the song is perfect and I literally bought it after the second time I heard it. It's called Sugar Song and Bitter Step by Unison Square Garden if you wanna buy it too. Luna OUT!
nostalgia, I heard this every night when I was 5 and 6 because my parents watched Blood Blockade Battlefront all the time. this brings back the best of memories.

The wheelchair belongs to Leo's(MC) sister that is unable to walk and him kneeling down in front of it symbolizes that he is ready to give everything for her after she sacrificed her sight for her brother to receive God's All Seeking Eyes. I love that the personalities shown in this sequence perfectly match with the show. Makes it feel like you're just hanging out with a group of well-known friends at a dance club. Perfect feeling for the bunch of weirdos that is Libra :)
This song is by far my favorite anime ED. The only song that even comes close is Uso from FMAB, but that's still a ways behind this. Man, I'm glad Kekai Sensen was a show.
One thing I love about this opening is that it really does bring that whole "NYC" vibe around. As I was watching this, I thought, "You know, this doesn't really seem Japanese. They almost seem-- American. :O omg that's right they are.
Nightow doesn't try to be cringingly Japanese moe in his stuff. He's just him and his stuff tends to feel more western. I mean, he made TRIGUN which is a full blown Western. When anime doesn't try to be anime, ironically it turns out better.
They HAD to make a season 2. Season 1 is, at best, an introduction. The only episodes that actually meant something for the story itself is episode 1, 11 and 12. Episode 2 to 9 were mostly characters' introductions and Episode 10 was a recap of the past episodes. Season 1 didn't cover anything related to the main character's current story. (We learn about his sister and his eyes then... nothing.) He's supposed to do all he does to find a way to fix his sister and the subject seems to be avoided the whole time. (There was also an introduction of the vampires and the 13) The animation (at least in season 1) is awesome and the audio is top notch... But the story itself, while it was cool to look at, in terms of actual development... it was nothing more than mediocre for the most part.
The anime is so underrated, its still one of my favorites. But this ending man, its been 6 or 7 years since I finished the anime but I still drop by from time to time to listen to this masterpiece
0:50 First kick is just a gentle and the second one is a full kick and the girl trips over so the big guy helps her up. It's these small details that make this ed worth watching over and over again
I live in New York too and it's exactly like this are you kidding, every day is hectic, filled with people who are not from around here, and so many different people with different histories, not to mention crazy shit happens all the time here. It's exactly like New York City.
I can feel the absolute passion of the art put into this ED that I had to listen to it for a hour straight I love this show and all of its characters they’re all so well put together with such incredible personalities this show deserves and bigger fan base

250midori I feel the same way. A lot of anime will have the characters move with perfect grace. Maybe every once in a while they'll trip or do something else for a gag, but it's rare to see animation that captures all the blunders of moving, and that's why I like this so much.

I noticed this right away..probably because i live there. Its pretty exciting to see an anime take place in NY, they got alot of art and landscapes so right. And im guessing the park they were at in episode 5 was Central Park. Man I'm going to have fun. :D
Crimson Cimmerian I feel the same way! I live in NYC too, and they actually did a great job on making it look and feel like Manhattan, I guess in a sort of way it makes us feel special knowing that we've walked in the same places the characters in Kekkai Sensen have.
Diseased Lemon haha yea. xD I just like that its not placed in Toyko like most animes, the ones that are most recent anyway. I live in Queens, I have lived in Manhattan and you can spot alot of references and landscapes, truly amazing they did research.

Jack Rockets instead of Johnny Rockets burgers, Dogimo instead of Domino's pizza, Blur Moon instead of Blue Moon beer. And didn't they mention Gotham the other day. Gosh that's a lot, and there are tons more I didn't even mention.
It's sad that this show might never get a third season. It was just so fun and yet so serious.

The surprising thing is that this ed isn't even that spectacular in terms of animation, but the music and the synch, and the pure carefree chaoticness of the whole thing, just feels amazing. This is one of the rare eds which is just fun.

I think when watching the ending theme literally makes me want to binge the whole show all over again, you have created an awesome ending theme. Studio Bones shows once again how brilliant they are at making manga adaptations with Kekkai Sensen, and if they decided to make a season two I'd watch it in literally less than a heartbeat.
Also, watching this, you get an almost perfect representation of the character's personalities. Zapp is crazy and wacky, Klaus is more reserved, but still having fun, Chain is being stubborn, and messing with Zapp. Stephen is sweat dropping because KK is glaring and obviously upset to be dancing with him. And Gilbert is still proper and drinking his tea. Brody and Hummer are having a great time. Zed is uncomfortable with his master's display of power, and everyone's having a great time. And Leo. Leo's just having a blast. He's dancing with Sonic and having fun while also remembering his sister and what she did for him. Leo is one of my favorite anime character of all time, and his personality and history is so well conveyed in this ending theme of the MAIN CAST DANCING ON A STAGE TO A FUN ALT ROCK SONG! Also, the song is perfect and I literally bought it after the second time I heard it. It's called Sugar Song and Bitter Step by Unison Square Garden if you wanna buy it too. Luna OUT!

I love that the personalities shown in this sequence perfectly match with the show. Makes it feel like you're just hanging out with a group of well-known friends at a dance club. Perfect feeling for the bunch of weirdos that is Libra :)

This song is by far my favorite anime ED. The only song that even comes close is Uso from FMAB, but that's still a ways behind this. Man, I'm glad Kekai Sensen was a show.
One thing I love about this opening is that it really does bring that whole "NYC" vibe around. As I was watching this, I thought, "You know, this doesn't really seem Japanese. They almost seem-- American. :O omg that's right they are.
Nightow doesn't try to be cringingly Japanese moe in his stuff. He's just him and his stuff tends to feel more western. I mean, he made TRIGUN which is a full blown Western. When anime doesn't try to be anime, ironically it turns out better.

Revisiting this because SEASON 2'S COMING BABY!
They HAD to make a season 2. Season 1 is, at best, an introduction. The only episodes that actually meant something for the story itself is episode 1, 11 and 12. Episode 2 to 9 were mostly characters' introductions and Episode 10 was a recap of the past episodes.
Season 1 didn't cover anything related to the main character's current story. (We learn about his sister and his eyes then... nothing.) He's supposed to do all he does to find a way to fix his sister and the subject seems to be avoided the whole time. (There was also an introduction of the vampires and the 13)
The animation (at least in season 1) is awesome and the audio is top notch... But the story itself, while it was cool to look at, in terms of actual development... it was nothing more than mediocre for the most part.

I can feel the absolute passion of the art put into this ED that I had to listen to it for a hour straight I love this show and all of its characters they’re all so well put together with such incredible personalities this show deserves and bigger fan base
