Great review! I love riding the highs and lows of feelings about a game and how it ends up after a bit. This does that, and ended up excellent and "best in class" in a crowded category. Super impressed, nice review.
Love this game, each mission brings a different flavour, I never played the initial welcome to games, but I bought this one and it has so much content as Tom says. I have only played up to mission 4 so far, but have played each mission a few times, once you get your head around the mission rules there are a few different strategic paths you can take to victory. And the missions actually help new players as it can help give some direction to the vast amount of options of which cards to choose to write.
I was looking forward for this review and really hoping for a good outcome because I like this genre but as Tom said I just need a few so I'm constantly switching between them as soon as I find one that better fits my tastes. Thanks! I'll give it a try!
I am not usually a huge fan of flip & write games, I never played the original Welcome To, but this box is unbelievable. It seems learning curve is steep when you get to mission 2, but then the symbols and colour codes help a lot so that just quickly reading through instructions you get to understand what you're supposed to do, what the challenge will be and what you should try to do to score good points. I have played the first 6 missions in 10 days and it didn't feel repetitive, all doable in 40-45 minutes taking the time to make hard decisions mid-game. This should be in top 10 of 2021 honestly, too bad the US got it late!
I agree , I am not a fan of roll and write or flip and write games, but this looked interesting. I hated the first welcome to...game. it was boring to me.
Well considering that there's a ton of content in this game, I actually bought all of the mini EPs for the 1st game on sale, so hopefully I'll pick this up eventually!
Wow, that review was glowing-plus. I'm not much of a fan of this style of game at all, but I won't turn it down if someone wants to play. And with the sheer volume of playable content in it, this looks like a winner every time. Now I'm sitting here strongly considering the purchase of a game style I don't even lean to, just to have all the options!
This game is so good, just as Tom says. I thought he might mention the one downside; due the nature of it, it means essentially learning half a new game each play session, which can be taxing, but I’m a sucker for pain 😂 I have no idea how they made money on this, because each ‘game’ feels like it’s been so well fine tuned and heavily play tested, and they are not what I would call light weight haha. This would have taken awhile to design!
we spend almost a whole year full time on this with my co-designer Alexis to make it work. Very intensive play testing and Alexis Allard is the best "fine tuning" designer ever.
@@benzene31 The god himself has spoken to us!! Thanks for all the hard work & hours of endless Welcome To fun you have brought to this world. This is the best R&W trilogy!!! ☺📝
Tom touched on what you mentioned in the first paragraph, but he didn't seem to consider it a downside. He pointed out that with game expansions, you're generally learning some new rules each time, and this is like a game with 7 expansions in it for free. So he covered your topic under the value-for-money umbrella.
I sold welcome to after i'd bought welcome to the moon. It' fantastic! A Plenty of Replayability. Note for Solo Gamers: The Solo Mode is very good in this game, but the AAA-System in the base game is even better!
Man Last Game i bought that was highly praised from you guys, would have to be the Boss Monster Game Card. I had my small community interested in it for a short time but I still love playing it solo now n then. I am now mega tempted to add this to the small board game collection in the near future. :)
I've heard lots of good things about Welcome To so I went on the bandwagon. I thought it was a little overhyped. I guess I wanted it to 'Wow' me but it didn't. It's a good game but not something I would grab right away over other Roll/Flip and Writes these days. The fact that there are 8 different boards is what got me interested in this one. The price-point is the best I've seen for so much content. Pre-ordered. hope it come out February 11th like the publisher mentioned.
Really enjoy it. It could have just been a good value game (lots of game for the dollar), but it's a lot of GOOD game for the dollar. Campaign was very fun!
reminds me of that Hadrians Wall filling this out lets me fill this that gets me this that lets me now fill in this box mechanic, looking forward to this one
Always hearing good things about this. I just feel this genre has been done to death now so I gloss over each new release as I was never drawn into these styles of games as they were basically solo games for multiplayer.
@@bluecockergames5084 i just ment that he will miss a good experience when he doesnt try the game. Its so great. The highlight of the genre at the moment for me.
We really enjoy regular Welcome To… and this seems pretty cool with a bunch of different playing options, but it’s also quite different from the original game and seems to overcomplicate it. There’s definitely a lot of content here though!
🇨🇵 Thanks a lot from France for the review of this Excellent French Game !

I played the first welcome to.. and hated it. Was really bored. But this grabbed my attention due to campaign and it being sci fi.
My first time with a Welcome to.. game and it's my favourite game of last year, gave it a 10.

If you don't lean towards R&Ws, this one might be a good place to get you into the genre ;)
The boards are super nice looking in person.

I wonder when they'll release Welcome to the Jungle?
Featuring axel rose and slash
Did Deep Water lose the license to Welcome To...? I heard they won't be selling it any more.
Seems like I'm still seeing it on the shelf at my local game store, 2 years later.
This looks great!

It's the flip and write for people who usually don't like the genre.
