Baba Yetu - Stellenbosch University Choir
    My Neck Of The Woods
It’s not the back woods that the world turns to, it’s not the soft wood the world yearns for,
the seemly tangled branches just reaching for a light of deliverance, the wood that could,
sunlight dancing with wind harmonies on the breeze, the trees stand tall and grouped here,
not the hacked wood that the world leans on, it’s the old wood of centuries that ties knots,
escaping the gap where the broken take sap and zap the tap of unity, the trap of diversity,
different stands won’t make a forest ginormous just gi-dormous the equity of forgetfulness,
what does it take to move with the best, leader attracts leader in my neck of the woods,
the feeder roots the crown, through trunk in ground and canopy in sky, that’s the fullness.
Welcome to my people, my country, the speakable not unreachable, the onion and the bread, the glory of not fighting old foes, the story told in eleven languages under one roof,
    welcome to South Africa.
Fil, me and choirs go way back. Fantastic performance, loved it.
#QcumberSquad #StellenboschUniversityChoir - Fil, I’m off back to the study.

My alma mater! Thank you for this reaction 🤗 They are the oldest university choir in South Africa and have always been exceptional, with a vast repertoire - ranked as the best amateur choir in the world for a number of years 🎶

The Stellenbosch University Choir is truly amazing. I would highly recommend reacting to more of their performances!
Seeing as you're South African, you might be interested in some of their songs in Afrikaans as well.

Seriously, the Stellenbosch uni choir is one of of SA best exports. Actually the whole African--European choral matrix tradition is, but Stellenbosch is the best of the best

Hearing you say how proud you are to be SA listening to this and watching--YOU SHOULD BE! This SA tradition developing of Africanising classical European and Europeanising traditional African songs is a EAL new, interesting and beautiful artistic gift to the world. First there is the outstanding talent o ft he choir and the conductor, but I'm half Black/half White from Canada--never thought about it, never an issue. But I was alive and aware when SA was apartheid, so EVERYTIME I see this and other SA choirs working together like this and traditions influencing each other... I am in awe and I kinda turn to mush TBH.
So, yeah, ABOSLUTELY be proud of this, it represents a serious global aspiration. Imagine Mandela or Miriam Makeba watching this now!

This guy uses the Portuguese Jersey, with the Cross of Christ on his left side, and cannot understand the POWER behind this song? This is the most important prayer delivered to us by the Son of God, Jesus Christ of Nazareth: "Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." The POWER is in the message not in the swaili my brother. Read the Bible.
