What do you use this server room for? What os are used? I seen ubuntu desktop for a laptop and debian for the servers? I imagine these servers can move a lot of data, how can you get such speeds to a area?
locally, you can move a lot of data through the local network, using gigabit ethernet cables, outside the local network, get yourself a good internet provider and get their business package if they have any, also make sure to use gigabit ethernet cables across the whole network.
nice, so this is what ill be doing in two weeks lol. ill just basically be swapping servers out for newer models with a little cabling here and there. i cant wait!!! also i saw one guy wearing a sweater. i know some server rooms are kept at really chilled temps for obvious reasons. so should i keep a light sweater with me just in case?
travis walden Depends, prepare for both hot and cold ;) Several companies I worked at ran their servers at very low temps, which made it a very unpleasant room to be in. But now working at a proper datacenter, they keep a constant room temp of 40 degrees (celsius) which is very unpleasant when lifting 30KG HP Eva systems...
The damage was minimal. The servers were shut down and moved away from the server room in time. But yes, we have a offsite backup in a LTO-5 tape library.
Actually we have 4 Dell PowerEdge R710 but the majority are IBM servers including IBM System x3650M2, x3550M4, IBM BladeCenter and Storwize. All of them, very good servers.
my god, didn't you guys have contractors to fabricate the room, it looks like half the dudes crawling around the floor screwing bits of cable trays together are the same crew building the servers, what kind of hobo outfit is this company??
4 dias de serviço resumidos em 12 minutos. Parabéns equipe NTI!

40ºC ... hell in heart, when my servers reach +34 they scream like dragons!
Did you lose all your data when the servers flooded or did you have a offsite backup?
The damage was minimal. The servers were shut down and moved away from the server room in time.
