TV, paper press, radio, billboards, pleb gossip, he was everywhere, you could buy an adult magazine and find Gollum on the centerfold. I think they tried to recreate that interest for today's Remake Era. And to be honest, I think it would've work 20 years ago.

What we could have gotten is how this bottom feeding low life came across this ring, got the life of his dreams thanks to this ring, and loses it from the pursuit of being hunted down from the nastiest people for the ring. It would've been something to see him as a peace-loving hobbit be transformed into a hideous animal because he lost his precious. Show how he got so twisted, and how the group came to possess the ring which prompted the entire journey. Give us a glimpse of how Frodo could have been transformed if not for Gollum trying to steal the ring back. This game accomplishes none of that. It failed to sell his his tragedy of a character. It failed to justify this bit of the universe. You can delete this entire game and nothing of value would be lost.

What really killed this game were those major bugs, glitches, frame drops, quality a some of part of the gameplay, not to mention that it is highly overprices with ton of dlcs. This game should cost 20 dollars max. I would give this game solid 5/10 but I would recommend this game only to lotr fans and only if this game would have 75% discount on it.

It was a terrible idea and the execution makes RoP look like it was made by Peter Jackson. They put the bloody elven language behind a paywall. Forget lore, that single decision goes against everything Tolkien believed in. He’d have torched his manuscripts if he’d known that the language he worked on would end up this way
