Chopper knows you fought to protect him though. So he knows you are good at keeping him safe so he’s not on guard. That level of trust is the best thing you can ask for
Just so you know, Chopper is still a puppy and any behaviors he has now may not be present when he reaches full maturity at around 2 years old. He may be fine with dogs now and he may be friendly with strangers but that could change when he matures. Socialization helps but does not prevent it. Remember, friendliness is the exception not the expectation of the breed.
Yeah. People want to practice neutrality with DA or SSA breeds. They can't be expected to be friendly after puppyhood or adolescence. I have a Shiba Inu and Japanese Akita Inu who were socialized to be neutral. They were never forced into interactions, and now have a healthy respect for other dogs and people as long as they receive the same.
He is not a puppy he is an adolescent. You’re right that behavior can still change, but I wouldn’t expect him to go polar opposite within a few months until he is fully grown up. So if he is very friendly dog now he probably will remain mostly friendly. The key socialization period for dogs is until they are 16 weeks old, which is also the age until they are considered puppies. If behavior changes you can always find a way to deal with it, but I feel like it’s not very helpful to give an already scared person that just went through a traumatic experience more things to worry about, which most likely won’t even happen.
@@JR-zm5uw I understand your sentiment, but too many people get DA/SSA breeds, and are surprised when the dog becomes more selective in adulthood. It's normal, and nothing to be afraid of. 🤷

You are the one who has to make sure your dog is safe to take outside and that includes the dog listening to you and the commands. In the end the dog is part of your pack and you lead. Not training your dog is neglect and so many of you aren't ready to admit it.
Make sure to hold owner accountable. Your situation happened to me exactly, unprovoked on a sidewalk walk. My baby is a frenchie and was attached by a German Shepard that was aggressive. I didn’t hold the owner accountable (at the time no blood was shed and I wrestled the dog off my baby boy) and that same dog mauled an older man’s arm that was in our neighborhood. I felt so guilty when he showed up to my house with his arm wrapped up in a sling asking me to help him press charges as he heard from our neighbors the same dog attacked my dog.
This! I have a german shepard a big breed, a working line, regardless of any type of dog THEY SHOULD BE TRAINED. I knew since i got my girl training is necessary not only for her safety, my own and others. It upsets me when most dog attacks are from are from careless owners. My dog on a walk, was almost attacked by a smaller breed dog because the owner didn’t pay attention while their dog was on a long leash. Luckily my dog stayed calm and kept doing her thing. Big breeds deserve love, but it’s understandable what Hang went through. When i walk my girl always people dart to the opposite side walk and that may be their dog was attacked, relative etc. If it’s for your safety yes. It just sucks owners don’t do their job properly.
@@ecupcakes2735 My girl is quite big, and she doesn’t lunge, had the other day 3 mini poodles go crazy seeing my dog, my girl got a bit scared so we walked the other way, the owner of these smaller breed dogs kept going closer (while their dogs were going absolutely crazy) saying their dog is friendly and it’s okay. I advocate for my dog by giving her space and what this owner did was HORRIBLE not only to their dogs but not respecting my space by going closer literally had to jog away. Its important regardless big or small dog is to respect the owner and DO not to leash greetings until you know what type of dog you can control, or honestly i avoid them in general. You have PTSD from this experience now. I would honestly sue the owner if I were you for the vet bills and now because you have PTSD, and you have a fear of walking your dog. She probably didn’t have vaccinations on her dog and that’s why she refused to provide you with them. this is a good method and available to everyone as we all carry a leash when we walk our dogs. Its important for it to be right behind the ears (where the windpipe is unprotected). As other people have said this may not be as effective for dogs that clamp as hard as pitbull's, however at some point they will pass out and it'll be safe to remove the dog. This also prevents further damage caused by pulling on dogs, regripping, tearing etc.

The same thing happened to me and my cat. My cat was outside on a leash. She was trained, but a big pug came out of nowhere and bit her stomach and killed her and the dog was put down and the owner was arrested because she let her pug at my cat. She literally came over to me and my cat and let her pug run straight toward me and my cat. I tried to fight the pug off, but the owner kicked me in the leg and I fell back and my cat was killed by that stupid pug.

If it's legal in your area, a handheld tazer or cattle prod are usually for effective than sprays. Sprays are more likely to accidentally draft get on to you or your dog. Tazer or prod direct contact with other dog. Also, the crackling noise from electrical charge usually scares dogs off.

I would really recommend going to a trainer to learn how to safely break up a dog fight as there is so much misinformation and myth out there. At the end of the day knowledge lessens anxiety as well as feeling capable and prepared gives you a plan. Therapy is also a good idea, but I would also consider going to a dog trainer to work on handling with Chopper around other dogs if the nervousness persists so that a trainer can pick up on your body language and mixed messages that may confuse Chopper. I'm happy to see he's healing well!
Where I live, certain dog breeds are banned. Breeds like pitbulls, bulldogs, rottweilers are banned since 2023 so that these type of things dont happen to anyone but it’s not always about the dog breed, it’s about how the owner is training and treating as well. Last year, a golden retriever living near me bit an elderly man while he was on a walk. The man broke his back and has several fractured ribs and the golden retriever had to be put down. So, it’s not always about the breed, but also about how the owner trains the dog as well. I have also wanted a dog for a long time and now i will be getting one soon. We have agreed on rither a doberman or a german shepherd.
My heart goes out to you. I have a similar fear and pray I never go through something like that with my dog. Wishing you both a full physical and emotional recovery.
Chopper knows you are a very good person and im so sorry for yall and i really hope yall get a good recovery and i hape yall are ok and i love yall so much more and i hope you have a great time and recovery 💗
The best thing you can do is try to put it in the past. Dogs don't hold onto things like we do, they move on pretty quick after it's happened. If you keep your anxiety about it around him, it'll make it worse for him in the moment as dogs feed off our energy a lot of the time. They don't hold grudges. I think the best thing you could do for Chopper is to work through your own anxieties about it. Cesar Millan has 2 videos on how to break up a dog fight. They're worth watching.
Oh my god you guys didn't deserve it I am happy that you BOTH are fine 💕❤ hope you and your dog gets healed soon !!!!!!!!!❤❤ THANKS FOR STILL MAKING VIDEOS FOR US ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💗💞💕💖💗💓

Poor little baby 🥺, I hope for your guys speedy recovery and sorry you had to go through that all for an irresponsible dog owner 😡. I always have my dog in a leash that isn’t able to break and have her wear a harness because how strong my Staff mix is
So sorry what happened to Chopper. I have been around animals all my life and ive seen it all. It basically comes down to how people train their dogs and to be honest a lot of people do not know how to train them properly and socialize their dogs from a very early age, basically from around 3 months old. you are doing the right thing by socializing chopper with all different types of dogs. He will be Ok.
Here’s a tip! You can learn dog body language. It’s very life saving! You can tell whether a dog is wanting to fight or not. It can also help you to communicate with Chopper too!
I just came across your channel because I’m picking up a GSD rescue and need to know how to introduce him to my cat. What happened to you and Chopper just breaks my heart. 😢 Of course it will take time for you to feel safe again after that truly brutal attack. Sending love and hugs.
I only found u a few hours ago and watched nearly all of your videos and I’m in love with your little family and I hope u all get physically and mentally better ❤❤ I hope u know that you guys have so many supporters that will always care for you
I know how this feels, my mother and our European Doberman got attacked while she was 1 years old by a teenager pitbull and a Rhodesian Ridgeback, my mom and Doberman both got bite marks my mother actually Had to go to the hospital because of the bites, and because of the attacks our Doberman has ptsd and is scared of dogs, it’s a miracle me and my dad were outside while the attack happened because my mom yelled at our Doberman to run home (luckily their were close by) but our Doberman ran home and I got our Doberman and put her inside, and I saw a dogs shadow follow her into our driveway, so I hope chopper can rest heal and feel better ❤
You guys are such good pet parents. I don't know many people who work that hard to desensitize their dog and make sure they're socialized right. I used to worry about my old dog being attacked while walking around because of all the off leash dogs roaming around in my neighborhood. I attached pepper spray to my dog's leash and walked with it in my hand so I would be ready. I've also read that having something like a breaker bar/bite release stick is a good idea if your dog is ever attacked by a pit bull because they tend to not want to release when they bite down.
I have pepper spray but I have heard it doesn’t work on dogs all the time. I have a friend who also carries pepper spray and tried using it on a ferocious German Shepherd and it didn’t work, but thankfully the dog ran away when the very negligent owner called it. My friend was ok I have always been afraid of big dogs, especially scary breeds like German Shepherds and pit bulls. I won’t get near them
Chopper knows you fought to protect him though. So he knows you are good at keeping him safe so he’s not on guard. That level of trust is the best thing you can ask for

And I had that cat for five years she was abandoned next to my house in the dumpster
what is wrong with ppl!!! what the fuck! im so sorry :(
That owner needs to be arrested for like a 10 years cause why would she kick you thats not funny 😡😒
I’m so sorry I know how you feel
Like i said hang chopper is strong he'll be back up in no time sending love and blessings to you and your four legged family
Gurl sue that owner-
fr tho
for real bruh
I really feel your pain. I hope for Chopper to have a quick recovery. My dog Rin was attacked months ago and took 2 months to fully heal
Wow 🤩 Chopper was an adorable little puppy ❣️ Keep healing and getting stronger and stronger 🙏🏽
I hope the pit-bull’s owner learns something from this. This is heartbreaking! I would be enraged!! I hope Chopper has a fast recovery and that you two get through it together. You have a lot of support on your side 💕 ❤️ 💕
Thank you for sharing your story❤ I got into a bad dog fight two months ago also, and I’m still healing from it. It’s good to know I’m not alone. I’m so proud of Chopper and you though🫶🏼
I hope Chopper gets better... I can't imagine everything you're going through.. I agree with you, the pit bull owner should be sued, or the very least get a fine.. I'm happy for all 3 of you, you're so brave for keeping everyone updated, I could never have the will to do this!! ❤❤
You do an amazing job with your pets! Chopper is so lucky to have you guys as his family. Wish more people realized having a dog is a huge responsibility.
That Chow-Chow adores you! And yes only 1 y/o!
What a good boy! Training is something you need to do the rest of his life. Check your local jr. college, they might have obedience classes! We took our Malamutes from puppy classes to advanced. There are also show ring classes. We had a blast! And it was great for socializing and bonding. We loved it and met some great life long friends!
I am so relieved you and Chopper are ok. It really is a blessing and I am wishing your family the best!
Aw this made me cry buckets 😭 something similar happened to our poor boy a few months ago when he was attacked by a pitbull and I was just beside myself. Can’t imagine the pain you must be feeling navigating through this, but I’m so so happy seeing that you’re both on your way to recovery. Sending lots of love and healing your way!! 🥰❤️ all your fur babies are absolute cuties!!!
Poor Chopper, I hope he has a speedy recovery! Sending love to both of you
I'm happy to see he is still loving & sociable 🩷
Praying for you recovery friend!
I am so happy to see sweet Chopper feeling better! ❤
I'm so sorry about you and your dog :( TAKE CARE^^
I am so sorry that you have all been put through such a horrible event because of the owner's carelessness and irresponsibility. I'm glad to see that Chopper is doing better and he is getting back to his old routine. Wishing you all a smooth recovery.
I'm incredibly sorry you had to go through this. I'm glad you fought and did all you could to protect Chopper, and I hope you both recover quickly. I'm again, so so sorry you experienced this. Sending so much love to you and your beautiful puppy.
Oh dear you can just tell chopper stills adores you and knows what you did for him im so proud of you and chopper and i hope yall can get through it together!!
If it's legal in your area, a handheld tazer or cattle prod are usually for effective than sprays. Sprays are more likely to accidentally draft get on to you or your dog. Tazer or prod direct contact with other dog. Also, the crackling noise from electrical charge usually scares dogs off.
I hope chopper feels better soon , you and chopper never deserved that 😢 FEEL BETTER CHOPPER
😫 I feel so bad for both of you, I hope you and Chopper can heal from this trauma. He’s such a pretty boy💖
Wishing Chopper (and you!) a speedy recovery, physically and mentally :') He's already looking so much better!!!

I’m so sorry this happened to you and Chopper. My Golden was attacked by a coyote and I know what you’re going through. Prayers for a speedy recovery!
I’m really sorry this happened to you and chopper and I hope you two recover and get better soon ❤️🩹
I wish you and chopper a full and healthy recovery
Chopper is a good strong boy, sending hugs and treats❤
I would really recommend going to a trainer to learn how to safely break up a dog fight as there is so much misinformation and myth out there. At the end of the day knowledge lessens anxiety as well as feeling capable and prepared gives you a plan. Therapy is also a good idea, but I would also consider going to a dog trainer to work on handling with Chopper around other dogs if the nervousness persists so that a trainer can pick up on your body language and mixed messages that may confuse Chopper. I'm happy to see he's healing well!
Hope Chopper has the best recovery!!
So happy for you both and i hope you recover soon ❤
So thankful you two are okay. I hope Chopper and you heal well. He is so precious ❤❤❤❤
Either*
Wonderful choice of dogs, but the breeds do need lots of love and good, gentle and firm training. We always had German Shepherds who were wonderful.
Why was the poor dog put down? His owners are the ones who should go thru that, not the poor dog.
You guys are so brave im glad you are both okay
feel better, hope all owners become as responsible as you, you are really good inspiration🐕😼😽
You should feel lucky to have a wonderful fiance like that! He seems so supportive :)
He’s such a sweet boy, I’m glad he’s doing ok 🥹🤎
Aww poor chopper... y'all are so brave though! Don't give up! Fighting!!
Chopper is so cute when he was little even right now! I hope chopper is feeling better!
I'm so sorry for what happened to you and chopper I hope both of you recovers soon. and also that make up looks really good on you 💖
The best thing you can do is try to put it in the past.
Oh my god you guys didn't deserve it I am happy that you BOTH are fine 💕❤ hope you and your dog gets healed soon !!!!!!!!!❤❤ THANKS FOR STILL MAKING VIDEOS FOR US ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💗💞💕💖💗💓
you guys are so brave, just know that in the end everything's going to turn out fine.
When I have an awful nightmare there is always that scary feeling that lingers after I wake up, I can't imagine how traumatic it must have been for you. You are such a strong person and Choppa is such a brave boy, stay safe and happy ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Praying for you and
Chopper 🙏🙏🙏. I hope your dog gets better quickly ❤❤❤❤❤
Can u upload a lot more often! I LOVE UR CONTENT and when I watch it theirs nothing as interesting as urs ❤️
Society needs to have a really serious conversation about whether or not we really need pitbulls in our communities.
He's a gorgeous beautiful baby and I am so happy you're such a loving owner and y'all are both ok. Chows are my breed and I adore seeing a well socialized happy boy.
I dont blame you for being scared or worried about his behavior. I can feel the same worry you feel whenever we’ve ever had a bad situation with our doggo but thankfully your baby seems to be doing better. He’s a sweetie and he’s so blessed to have you
Poor little baby 🥺, I hope for your guys speedy recovery and sorry you had to go through that all for an irresponsible dog owner 😡. I always have my dog in a leash that isn’t able to break and have her wear a harness because how strong my Staff mix is
Prayers and God Bless You and Chopper.💜💜
So sorry what happened to Chopper. I have been around animals all my life and ive seen it all. It basically comes down to how people train their dogs and to be honest a lot of people do not know how to train them properly and socialize their dogs from a very early age, basically from around 3 months old. you are doing the right thing by socializing chopper with all different types of dogs. He will be Ok.
Here’s a tip! You can learn dog body language. It’s very life saving! You can tell whether a dog is wanting to fight or not. It can also help you to communicate with Chopper too!
Tammy I really hope chopper feels better soon 😢❤ and cats can tell how you feel and are known for comforting you ❤ I love your pets and you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I just came across your channel because I’m picking up a GSD rescue and need to know how to introduce him to my cat. What happened to you and Chopper just breaks my heart. 😢 Of course it will take time for you to feel safe again after that truly brutal attack. Sending love and hugs.
I only found u a few hours ago and watched nearly all of your videos and I’m in love with your little family and I hope u all get physically and mentally better ❤❤ I hope u know that you guys have so many supporters that will always care for you
You are beautiful inside and out! Heal well, all of you!
SUE THE OWNER SUE THE OWNER But like if it ever happens again, you now at least have experience
I am so sorry for what happened hope you and the doggo is ok ❤
I have pepper spray but I have heard it doesn’t work on dogs all the time. I have a friend who also carries pepper spray and tried using it on a ferocious German Shepherd and it didn’t work, but thankfully the dog ran away when the very negligent owner called it. My friend was ok
I have always been afraid of big dogs, especially scary breeds like German Shepherds and pit bulls. I won’t get near them
I have the same scissors! They don’t pull on the hair at all. As the hair grows in use the thinning shears to keep is even
