  • Wildfires in 2021 destroyed huge swathes of land on the Italian island of Sardina. According to local beekeeper Francesco Caboni, up to 500 hives, totaling 30 million bees were lost. Bees help pollinate and preserve Sardinia's unique biodiversity and endemic species. Caboni's company Terrantiga and other beekeepers and environmental groups are breeding bees and planting bee-friendly forests, to help accelerate the regrowth of regions devastated by wildfire.

Good to bring the bees back.
They aren't the only pollinators though.
