Bees are important, right? That seems to be the general consensus. But is it true? And should you still care even if you don’t eat honey. Phil argues that the answer is ‘yes’ and presents his top five reasons that explain just why bees are so important.

I mean bees scare the life out of me but I never try to harm them because I know that they’re extremely important, but on the other hand, I'll do pretty much anything to get away from a wasp.

I was looking for a video to use when I teach the Environmental Science Merit Badge to some boy scouts. This is perfect! It includes all the things they're suppose to write about in their report. Thanks so much!
Glad you like it! :)
They are amazing 🐝👍There are so many in our garden and we try to support them with as many beefriendly plants that fit into our little cottage garden / food forest 💛

jus found your channel and love it! keep up the good work :)
I thought it was BBC documentary. Amazing.
I only realized this recently when I went to a talk about the monarch butterfly. habitat loss is a huge contributor. 😢
It's the major contributor. Most of what we see as nature is actually some kind of agriculture.
Thanks for sharing the great information about the bees sir Philip...
Great Video and thanks for posting.
Don't forget that all the Bumble Bees here came from Europe at some point in time,. If you get high winds while Queens are in flight its easy for them to be blown across.. Once I was at the coast and there where thousands and thousands of Lady Birds blowing in from across the sea and landing all over the beach. They where every where. It was an awesome site I will never forget. This is going back about 25 years or so.
1stBumbleBeeMaster True.
Sorry about that late reply - that's amazing - wish we'd seen it!
No worries. I just went to look online to see if any one had a any photos or footage of the Lady Birds coming across the sea to Bornmouth Beach and apparently we had an invasion in 1976 on another beach as well. I will try and see if I can find some one with footage of the one 25 years ago. There was a guy who works for Strattford Butterfly Farm who was there at the time. Not sure if he still works there though. I do remember him taking pictures.
That's great, let us know if you have any success...
Wow great video still useful today and for future love the design n cool photos lol

I saw this in my class
I’ve read that planting a bee friendly flower garden would help. I’m confused. Wouldn’t all the almond and tomato farms have the same effect, or are flowers just more irresistible for bees?
I'm a beekeeper and they are wonderful!!

Hi people
Go bees go go go
I just found this out😂
Well, a little bit better than the American bumble bee I suppose. They [bumble bees] do not provide any honey at all. Just saying.
So i love this video but when you say “to-mah-to” i want to dive onto a freeway
Hello bees thanks 🐝
I don't get how losing bees will cause that big of a problem when they don't even originate from north america, and the plants was doing fine then.

Bees are important! But are honey bees? Honey bees are farm animals that are bred and kept to convert natural resources into food for humans. From a capitalist point of view, that's definitely a plus. But what evidence suggests that honeybees, which in most cases are not even native species, are good for our biodiversity? Why are invasive species villains, but honey bees which equally competing with native species are ecological heroes? If one wants to help nature, one should expand the shrinking amount of natural habitat and not use this very limited habitat to our human benefit by using honeybees.
