Since absolutely no TV in $750 gives me sound any close to what I currently get from my current set. Interesting. I'm looking at large computer monitors (e.g., 48 inches are bigger) to serve as a TV. Reason is that new TV's are "smart" TV's which just means they are loaded with manufacture bloatware that is incredibly intrusive on our privacy. Rather, I'm seeking to use an Audio/Video Receiver for sound and then output the picture to the monitor. Input devices can be endless (e.g., Streaming device like Fire or Ruku, DVD player, VHS (yep, may still exist in a collection), and DVR/Cable box (if this is also still in collection). AV Receiver is the only way to go... inclusive of at least a 5.1 system (Subwoofer a must unless you're in a condo - neighbor may not like). With today's TV, use of it's own tuner has become obsolete. So why even have a TV? Monitor baby!

I mean many TV speakers are pretty garbage too, or at very least are pointed the wrong way because aesthetics and no one wants a fat bezel with a speaker grill, but speaker bar, no problem there... Also I'd sell my old monitor, or use it for a second monitor. Last monitor died, and even at 34" I don't think I'd want to turn my current one into a TV unless it was close up, plus it's curved ultrawide 3440x1440, not great for 1080p content.

Yes, and you could also hook up a console to watch movies.
Bought a cheap curved screen monitors and perfect TV for my bathroom and kitchen
Just caught your video. Have 2 old monitors. HDMI capable. Want a budget TV DIY. Love your video instruction. You lack information how to connect to the internet. And a comment below says connect Fire TV. Would that work?? Awesome. Post links below on ALL videos for products you recommend.
If you have a monitor that doesn't have speakers, you would have to buy eater a cd bombox with Bluetooth or a mp3
Do you need to have a pc connected to your monitor for this to work?
No, no computer needed.
Hi, can I connect the android tv box to soundbar, then soundbar connect to pc monitor via HDMI?
Well Yes and it sounds better that way too!
I have a 1080p monitor but In my experiments monitors Are gently better as a tv and using bluray discs on it It's also generally Better
Televisions, in my opinion, are lame and trash.
There is a way to get sound on your monitor if you buy it like a sony cd bomboz With mp3 plug or Use Bluetooth
im just in the process right now doing this so i can hook up all my mini consoles e.g super nes and nes megadrive minis and play them rather then playing them on my 55" hd tv .
Bro you didn't explain how to get access to tv, you only told us to get a soundbar
Big MONEY! lol funny stuff.
The only issue I have found is that I cannot turn the monitor off/on with a remote, unless someone has a solution to share.
Im doing this because my kitchen counter is bland and we dont have a TV in there yet!
What if your monitor does not have a headphone jack?
My TV bed only holds up to 37 inch tvs and you can't find this size tvs in the high Street. I will have to get a monitor as I have no choice lol
I didn’t want to do it but I disliked it to make it 69, a sacrifice I had to make
Can I use my Apple studio display as monitor?
Do you have an apple monitor
Hello! Your video was quite heloful. Can you please send me a detailed list of stuff & the steps so I can turn my samsung led monitor SR35 into TV? Thaks & looking fioward to hear from you.
Get a Roku soundbar, it has a built in streaming device.
missing TV tuner...
Your monitor is beautiful wtf
Oh boy, had to turn on the patience muscle (TO HIGH OUTPUT) to get through this video.
Got a PS5 all thanks to God
My TV is a Samsung 1080p maybe from 2013. Its definitely not gonna take advantage of the PS5 performance. 4K tvs are too expensive even after black Friday. Plus none are small enough for my room
So yeah I'm definitely doing this
You can get a monitor that fully takes advantage of the PS5's power at a much lower price
Plus I can do much more on a Monitor than a Tv. I can't get Steam on a TV. Or go on Google etc.
Getting a monitor is just the wise choice
What if my tv doesn't have audio Jack in it?
Can I be able to use it as tv?
If it has speakers in it it can be but if it doesn't then you can't
A $30 Digital TV Converter box with hdmi out gives you real digital TV capabilities + ability to record live tv.
Is there a way to turn off your monitor with a remote?
The sound is not loud enough so I can hardly hear U. I wanted to hear what U were saying, but alas I couldn't get it louder.
