I love the Blues, old mostly, feel it more. And I truly enjoy the fact that we don't have to hear the "F" word in every song. Great how the older versions can sing the same content as now - Leave out all the expletives & really put the songs across.
Why can't people just kick back, chill, and soak in some KILLER music without having to compare everyone to everyone else? Who freakin' cares, talent is talent, it's all good and it's all different. We ALL have a gift within us, unfortunately for some they concentrate on critcizing everyone elses' gift instead of actually taking that time to develop their own...
I never (ever) say this (about our beloved gone blues men), however, I really wish Stevie covered this for us to foot stomp to! Anyone else feelin’ what I’m saying in ‘22? 👍🇦🇺
Great, thanks. They didn't call him 'Lightnin' for nothin'! Sounds like a brush to me. You don't see brushes much because younger drummers are still trying to learn how to use sticks. Brushes take some experience to use and are doing more than just pounding out rhythms. Used properly, they are sliding around a bit. Sorta like bending a string on guitar or slurring on a fiddle.
I think it's a normal drum kit, it's what's being used to hit the skins that makes the different sound. I think it's one of those whisk-type things (I'm not percussionist, I've only seen them used in a lot of blues and jazz videos), I just don't know what they're called.
about 3 minutes and 5 seconds in he is slapping his guitar w/ his thumb. aside from that ? sounds like a typical drum kit from the era. Remember though, these drums dont have microphones as we are all used to. Good chance the Bass drum is muffled and drummer could be using brushes. I am 100% sure that's a snare drum you hear.
Of course clapton is white. it's the way it was said.."just white" like some racial underlaying statement was intended, maybe not, but that's the way I read it. Anyway..I've been a fan of poo lightin for years..There will never be another like him.
lol I knew you couldn't be a drummer. because (again not being wise ass) NO drummer refers to him/herself as "percussionist". But assuming the brushes is what you mean.... drum kits back then, were not complex, lots is just a snare.. possibly this too. if you like social distortion, theres a live vid, on here, the bass drum is a suitcase w/ a suitcase as a bass drum.

Lightnin' might be my very favorite bluesman ..
Experience, heartache, and trouble brother. That's the blues.
Townes Van Zandt's all-time favourite singer/songwriter/guitarist.
And who is he?
@@Pabloignacioalvarez no one important, only THE greatest songwriter in recorded history

yeah - it's the "thing" that makes him "sing"
wonderful !
Without the blues it would be missing something to Clapton. Without Lightnin' it would be missing something to the blues.
does he say "it comes in many colors and it's definitely in demand" ??? because that's true.
Touché!

Hahaha quite possibly. Like I say, I'm no percussionist, I just know what they look like and I like the sound they make LOL
the original flip
Does anyone know the type of percussion used on this recording? It doesn't sound like a standard drum set.
Did you type this before or after the Klan meeting?
can anyone tell me what lightning is saying on the last verse!

I'm with you. But, opinions are like assholes: everyone's got one, but no one wants to hear 'em.
Soory if i got it wrong. J

what makes a real bluesman is milage not black or white.
