  • In this video, a 1" 40 series torque converter gets added on the lawnmower to turn it into a semi-automatic transmission to see how it preforms. Next video(of this) we should be lowering this thing!

    Just so y'all know I got this idea from CarsandCameras.

    Using a V belt on the Torque converter is costing you a lot of drivability. The TC pulley you have on there is the driver, for it to engage smoother and ramp up to speed, you'll need the driven pulley. That will require a Jackshaft but should increase your top speed and make your take offs smoother.

      I thought about putting a driven on the rear but never got around to it, the way the mower currently is today seems pretty good with regular pulleys, however it was fun trying the torque converter pulley out though.

      Yep! That is how I got the whole idea for this build, I have been watching them over 5 years on other channels when this one didn't exist yet and when I saw that build I had to do it! Now 4 years later I'm finally doing it!

    You should get a SMV sign for it after all its a tractor because a tractor is a tractor no matter how big it is and you should probably find a old starter cup off a push mower and build you an emergency starter it will save you a headache I'm only 18 an autistic but I've been doing stuff like this since I was like five or six when it comes to working on small engines and building stuff like this

    • @IngenTechNational

      Yeah lol, I did to a pull start on this on both my mowers! The single OHV and the Twin.

    There's certain types of older washers that have a centrifugal clutch pulley with 1 inch dia shaft bore. And a 3 inch pulley . I just drilled holes and bolts a 6 inch pulley to the 3 inch pulley on the clutch..

    Test the diode on your charge wire. It's a small black piece that looks like it has heat shrink on it. Or a constant draw on the battery. Just put a kill switch on it to isolate the battery.

    FYI riding lawnmowers are built with the piston facing toward the front of the mower so you can stand them up vertical to work on or store them. Just make sure you drain the gas tank first.

    hi im looking at your clutch did you adjust it for a 5/8 belt or it is not adjutable by the way nice job

    • @IngenTechNational
      @IngenTechNational  8 месяцев назад +1

      A 5/8 is one inch larger than a half for the same size. You can fit a 5/8 on it but you have to have pulleys to fit it and unbolt the clutch and idler to slip around the factory belt guards and it should work.

  • @MegaMarclar
    @MegaMarclar Год назад +1

    I'm curious, is the fully extended diameter of the converter the 'same' as the old pulley, I guess I'm curious if it gets larger and pulls on the belt possibly stretching the belt

    • @IngenTechNational
      @IngenTechNational  Год назад +1

      The spring on the clutch will compensate for the torque converter when it engages the belt and extends. It probably extends fully to 3 1/2 inches with a half inch belt and 4 inches with a 5/8 belt. The old pulley is 3 1/2 inches but the belt sits in the groove, the belt on the torque converter sits actually 3 1/2 inches so in theory it actually is a bit bigger than stock. Its hard to explain in the comments but hopefully you under stand what I'm saying lol.

  • @gabbymoore7602
    @gabbymoore7602 Месяц назад +1

    If you were to take that center space route of the clutch you'll probably get a whole lot higher top on speed

    • @IngenTechNational
      @IngenTechNational  6 месяцев назад +1

      Not really honestly, big thing is making sure your belt alignment between the pulleys is perfect and obviously the proper size and it should be good.
