  • My initial problem was that the red stand-by light seemed to have died one day and I couldn't turn on the TV. I found out if I unplugged the TV, waited a few minutes and then plugged it back in again, the stand-by light would reappear and I could then turn it on. However, after plugging in the TV there was a window of a few seconds (10 - 15), after which, if I had not clicked the remote to turn on the TV, the stand-by light would die, I could not turn it on anymore and I had to restart the process. I used this trick daily for months (about half a year) until one day it finally died for good, as restarting it wouldn't work anymore. The warranty had just about expired when the issues started (and I found the restarting trick), and I looked up official repair partners and they had bad reviews online such as being expensive and taking months to repair.
After investigating a bit my intuition told me it was most likely the PSU and I decided to replace it. It's been working perfectly ever since.
    - TV model reference: OLED65CXPUA
    - PSU reference for this TV model: EAY65689423
    - I bought mine from spareslg.com but you can find other official LG partners in your own country

Thank you very much! Did the replacement and it works. Would have been sad to throw away a 4 year old tv.

I am having an issue with my LG CX that I cannot even plug it on the wall because it makes my electricity to go away and I believe it is the power supply but I still haven't opened the TV yet, it is out of support but has only 3 years old...seems like power supply issues are common with LG OLEDs

Another question, how did you find out the part number for the PSU? did you open it up and look, or was there a website you went to ?

Having an issue with power cord .. seems like a common problem with LG OLED .. is there a way to change the power cord only ? Or do I have to change the whole panel ?

The cord itself may not be what's causing the issue. In my case I kept the original cord. What were your TV "symptoms"? Did you try the restarting trick? Do your TV symptoms match the ones I had (check the description)? If so replacing the PSU may also work for you.

Can you tell me how much it would cost to replace the power supply of this tv.. I have the same issue and the repair man said it would cost around 800$ to replace the power supply

The price of this PSU on spareslg.com is currently around 220 EUR (roughly 238 USD). Different shops will give you varying quotes, depending on their margins (diagnostics/part/labor), but 800$ looks like a total ripoff to me.

Did anyone try actually to fix this PSU board instead of just replacing it? There are so many people out there with this kind of issue and the replacement is hard to find or very expensive.

I've seen some video of guys repairing it themselves for sure, but it's a riskier approach.

Just tells how bad this model is build. Mine also stopped working after 3 years. Never ever had a TV stopped working on me and I owned TV's longer than 10 year

My back cover is way too stuck to pull off. I feel like I'm going to break it! Specifically the top part of my back cover just doesnt want to come off. It seems there is some adhesive holding onto the tv screen. All the screws are off but its just stuck on. 😭

    • @ArghIHateThisSuit
      @ArghIHateThisSuit  4 дня назад

@@issaciams Not sure if I can help there. These things are usually held in place by plastic clips because they may need to be serviced. If yours is really glued shut I would not touch it. To make sure if it's really glued you can look closer at the intersection between the cover and the TV at the top part while applying a slight force to try and lift the cover, do you see it lifting slightly or at all? You can see from the video where the clips are located, so try to lift from a space where there shouldn't be any clips and see if you can see some gap forming.

@@ArghIHateThisSuit I finally got it off! That crap was seriously stuck on. I think the heat and dust from using it for years created some kind of adhesive. That, or they actually used a little adhesive but I did finally get it off. Took like 30- 45 minutes of carefully wiggling and it finally came off. Just took the main board off too. And the heat sink to the cpu. Gonna replace the paste to see if it reduces the constant shut off this TV is having. Thanks for your video. 😊

My OLED B8 stunk up my living with a burning smell coming from the back vent near the power supply. I’m assuming a capacitor went bad or is leaking, any ideas? TV works fine but after 15-30 mins of usage it’s starts to smell, I’ve had the Tv 5 years now, I’d rather buy a new power supply than a new tv. Only a 100+ or under for a power supply.

You will have to disassemble it and see what component failed and in which board it failed and then try to investigate a bit online your particular issue. If I were you I would look for your specific model first and then expand the search to other models of the same maker. Sometimes these issues are transversal. Be aware that these TVs usually have 3 or more boards and your particular issue could be caused by any one of them. Meaning that even if you find that the component that failed is in fact in your PSU board, it may still be caused by a fault in some other board. So read a lot first. I arrived at my conclusion for my TV based on its symptoms the PSU would be the best candidate.

hi... my OLED65CX3LA.BEUWLJP just broke after 3+ years the same way as your did. Standby light is dead after many troubles with turning it on daily. I will try the plug-out-in trick first though :D
then probably order the PSU part soon as well, just LG discontinued the original part my tv had EAY65689411
and I will probably forced to use newer one which you used EAY65689423 which should be also compatible with C1 model, I guess... fingers crossed it is just PSU as it is 200 euro gamble :D
so thank you very much for sharing your how-to video for DIY replacement :) cheeers
