Rn I’m at the beginning of the game making journey and I seem to struggle a lot with making pretty much anything. I took the c# course on codeacademy but coding in c# for game development is much different. Hopefully something clicks for me
I'd say after like one year I was able to write code myself without relying on tutorials. You can get there faster though if you now what to learn, my friend is currently learning how to code as well - this is what I told him to focus on: - Fully understanding variables (reference types and non-reference types, especially Unity specific ones like Transform or GameObject) - Fully understanding how to get access to any component with GetComponent() - Understanding how to write functions, both void and return types - and with parameters as well - Learning the following Unity functions: OnCollisionEnter(), OnTriggerEnter(), Instantiate(), Destroy(), Input.GetKey(), Physics.Raycast(), Mathf.Lerp(), Vector3.Normalize(), Random.Range(), Rigidbody.AddForce(), AudioSource.Play(), Quaternion.Slerp(), Vector3.Distance(), SceneManager.LoadScene(), Physics.OverlapSphere() Just tell ChatGpt to explain each of these topic to you in detail, works great
would be intersting if in the next ai episode you can show us how to create a payday 2 ai, where it knows where the player is at all times and tries to attack him from different directions with hitscan weapons, but being balanced out by a small cone in which the "bullet" can go (also nice game, it really is the perfect training and warming up game for any fps)
