So the OP got together with her friend's ex while friend was still pregnant? SHOCKING that she doesn't have a good relationship with any of them.

Anyone else pick up on the fact that OP was good friends with the ex-wife and then started dating her husband as soon as they split up, despite the fact that the ex-wife was carrying his baby?

YTA! When you marry (or plan to marry) someone who has children from a previous relationship, those kids ARE going to be a part of your life going forward. If you don't want kids, don't get involved with someone who already has children, it's a package deal. Trying to prevent them from seeing their kids will only lead to resentment and cause problems for the relationship going forward. Off hand, I don't understand why your fiancé wants anything to do with you.
OP's Fiance wants to remain with them because he was on a rebound and she swooped in to save him... despite being great friends with his ex-wife. :/
Going against the grain here. No bride wants the groom's ex at the ceremony - friend or not. Even if one of the pair has kids and they are in the wedding, the ex more often than not isn't invited. I can understand him maybe wanting the kids as ring bearer or flower girl, etc - but not at the reception! Given what OP observed at the last wedding and the mom's lack of discipline at all, I don't blame her for saying no f'ing way are they going to be at her reception!
I agree totally. If he wants his kids there have one of his family members bring them.

Considering the how stupid-expensive weddings are, I can’t say I blame OP for not wanting demonstrably undisciplined brats ruining it. But those same kids are going to be a part of her life after-maybe there just shouldn’t be a wedding. Most people seem so obsessed with getting married-and with the wedding itself -that they seem to forget that life goes on after.
OP has every right to not want the ex at their wedding. Other than that, she’s pretty terrible. The kids need handlers that will remove them the moment they start causing trouble.
Who really wants their fiancé‘s ex at their wedding? Especially if they don’t get along? The kids should be allowed, but they should be brought by another family member.
The only reason they don’t get along is because shes a shitty friend who swooped in to be with her friends ex right after they split and while she was still pregnant.
This upcoming marriage is a disaster waiting to happen!
So...OP is marrying someone who's ex she can't stand and kids hate her even though she needs to spend every holiday and half the summer with. If OP's account is true, the ex is probably poisoning her kids against OP (not that OP needs the help) and intentionally checking out at gatherings...then there's the fiance. Dude dates a woman who is 15 years his junior and best friends with his PREGNANT ex practically the second they break up, does nothing to corral the kids when they're misbehaving even though he's clearly at the same event as his ex, and sees nothing wrong with inviting his family who hates OP to their wedding...it seems like the only upside to this story is that all these terrible people are dating and marrying each other and leaving decent people alone 😅
As to her comment of the kids not going to remember the event... I was my uncle's flower girl for his wedding and I remember it vividly. I was 6.
Ahhh soon as I heard she was friends with his wife but there was no cheating I knew exactly who she is 😂 I hope this marriage does not go ahead! Poor kids

ESH. The husband wants nothing do to with the planning, but AGREED to a child free wedding. That was a green light for OP. OP should've sat her husband and explained everything before any invites were made. As for the ex, there clearly was a reason why they divorced. This whole situation isn't going to be good. Besides, the kids might not like OP because of their mom.
His lack of communication skills probably had a lot to do with the failure of his last marriage.

You don't exclude your future stepchildren, not if you don't plan to exclude them for the rest of your life. So, she's setting herself up for failure.
I wonder if the kids are as bad as OP says they are? By the way she’s acting, I don’t think so. Plus, he doesn’t need anyone’s permission to speak to his family. I get no children weddings, but that generally doesn’t count bride or grooms children.
I can see her side, especially not having the the ex wife there. Maybe having a little event with them.
OP sucks but I do think it's possible to have a child free wedding even if you have kids. However, for that to work both partners would have to agree.

They are his children. You want a child free wedding fine but his own children do not count. When you marry someone who has children, YOU are no longer child free! You have zero right to " give him permission " to invite his children. If you don't want children at your wedding, you do not marry someone who has children.
