Insomnium is the best melodic death metal band in the world right now, period. I have listened to all their albums many many times, but after all these years of listening to them, my favorite is Above The Weeping World, with Across The Dark(which was the first album I heard from them) coming second...I liked ALL their albums, I just liked the ones I mentioned a bit more...Insomnium does NOT have a BAD album, not at all...
I have 6 insomnium albums on vinyl and my favourite one is still the first one I ever bought which is above the weeping world. This album is peerless. I even love the cover. I want in the groves of death to be played at my funeral.
Insomnium are one of my favorite bands of all time. I also loved Bezlebubs Pantheon of the Nightside Gods which features the singer for Insomnium on vocals, Winters Gate is one of my favorite albums of all time, Great list!!🤘

Shadows of the Dying sun Really don't get the hype behind Heart like a Grave, thought it was a mediocre album at best and. The songs are quite forgettable, and lack the "Insomnium feeling", but each to their own I guess.
Hey :) Does anybody know bands that sound similar to Insomnium (I especially like the mix of clean and harsh vocals)? Btw. I don't like One For Sorrow, cause the vocals are compared to the instruments too silent.
Honestly Winters Gate is the only album that start to finish floors me. They have a lot of great singles, but in general I find their albums to be a little mopey and inconsistent.
if I had 40 minutes to live, I would want to be on top of a mountain during a blizzard by myself listening to Winter's gate.

Really don't get the hype behind Heart like a Grave, thought it was a mediocre album at best and. The songs are quite forgettable, and lack the "Insomnium feeling", but each to their own I guess.
Agree, I'd put it somewhere in the middle. Pale morning star is god tier song though

To me swallow the sun as they are both Finnish and mix clean and harsh vocals but also omnium gatherum and wolfheart
