not bad as u consider the AE86 is 29 years old, the AE86 had no chance at the straight aways, but it closes the gap with cornering very impressive for such old car :))
Lex Buren that's mostly Tsuchiya's driving that closed the gap. I doubt any other race car driver could do it

That 86 is very far from stock itself, make no mistake.
A good driver could win with a 4A rather than a bad driver with a N63.. its how you drive your car :)
Great video! They had a similar challenge but de-tuned the Integra by outfitting it with a b16 instead of the original b18 it's suppose to have. Glad the outcome was exactly how I imagined it would be

Dk's car has been rebuilt several times and couple new engines put in, so it didn't really last the entire time he's had it.
AE 86 is a rally car after all. It's amazing on corners. If it was a mountain pass, this would be a completely different result.
the result would be just the same, this is a modded version of the slow pos corolla and it's still a slow pos car and it's not a rally car either. the fact that it's rwd doesn't change that it's slow but when tuned it can hang on, and that's what happened in the video on the rather slow twisty course that is tsukuba.

@@skarpheinnsmundsson9741 the specs weren't equal what do you expect, if it was equal hp atleast and on a downhill it would be a different story, the circuit is flat compared to a downhill touge obviously and you will have way more momentum and gravity pulling on you

the type r dc2 integra is fast unlike the US gsr or sir versions. But then again the hachiroku owned by tschiya is a pretty high level souped up car.

it's not the engine displacement that was important
it was how tuned the car was also that track seems to be a good match for the itr since the track is not a complex one where the ae86 perform better

It has the engine of an AE111 on this video. If you want the 86 to beat a Honda, give it the heart of a Honda. The engine of an S2000.
the 20v 4age's top out at 215hp naturally aspirated, you'd probably be able to get more out of it with a turbo but the 16v 4age's are more common to be putting out high power outputs, at least from what i've seen.

a modded car against a stock car and it barely hangs on? no the corolla is a slow pos and has always been, but obviously if you put some money into it it can hang on to stock cars like the video shows.

Well considering that the R is likely making 185whp (what mine made with bolt ons) and the 86 is likely making like 170ps according to some videos I have watched (so like 140whp) the 86 performed respectively.
The r is making 200 in this video and the 86 is 165, at least this is what it said earlier on
Yeah. “200PS” equates to about 170whp and “165PS” is about 140whp roughly. So roughly the same power I stated.

Daniel Manzoni Go on your calculator and type in 200-15% and it will come out to 170.
200hp~ minus 15% (drivetrain loss) equates to 170 WHEEL horsepower.

200PS would equate to roughly 167.45 whp.
Yes a type R makes about 165-170whp from the factory which is why I doubt that the type R in the video is making that but I digress.
and I’m sure the 86 is question is barely breaking 140whp hence why even tho the integra is likely 300-400lbs heavier it still pulled away in the straights.

Watch the episode where tech arts open that blacktop up and it was fully stock , yeah the Honda is far superior a fully modified n2 ae86 destroys the fastest b18cr on this track so yeah as a daily honda all the way but for a race car its the 86 .

土屋さんのAE86はコーナーでグイグイ追い詰めて立ち上がりが速いんだけども逆にインテグラの立ち上がりが速すぎるのよ😱もしAE86で勝つならスタートが命だからストールさせないように上手くスタートして第1コーナーで鼻面ねじ込ませて第一コーナーからの立ち上がりサイドバインサイドで、ここまでは予想通りに持ち込めたら出来る限りインを取れる様に頑張って低回転を維持しつつ第2コーナーを上手く立ち上がる事が出来れば五分五分で勝てる可能性は有る‼️まぁ・・・インテグラは速いからな〜😅

Both are old, only with costly engineering in time and or money they can compete with modern cars. I love these old skool cars but we have to face the fact that other car brands have been doing their homework well the last decade. F.e. The newFord focus is a very well handling car! Compared to their 90's crapp lightyears ahead. So a decade will improve the handling so much that even the Inte R is not that impressive anymore, the same can be said of the AE86 at the time of this video.
you can have all the handling but the feeling I get from my EG when blasting through those curves is mental while keeping up with much more powerful cars is mental.
And no modern car can replicate that ;)

Keiichi's car has had lots of tuning on the settings,performance parts fitted on it during the years,with the help of his own racing team and his own skills.Remember he is good at observing and even managing teams.A real racing driver and manager. That Integra was almost standard.
