    This song and The Rain song are best when played one after the other. My personal favourite from the MSG show is Dazed and Confused. 28 mins of pure glory.

    Pagey is playing a Gibson EDS 1275 double neck guitar on this song and I was at this concert and actually got to see the guitar in person when Pagey had an exhibition of all his instruments from that era at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC along with other artists like the Beatles, Hendrix, the Stones etc etc and i went opening night and the night before I had tea at their hotel with his lovely girlfriend Scarlett who is a dear friend of mine...love this song and its usually played in sequence with the Rain Song from the same concert, two magnificent songs

    1975-77' Plant had big problems, 73' is when it started. This concert (3 nights) was professionally shot for the making of the movie.

    They never had a bad song and they are unequalled...especially live! I think 1975 was Plant's year after throat surgery.

    I remember this intro from Plant being the intro to TSRTS full album and movie. Every reaction I watch now is different. Also, in stairway to heaven originally live on same album, there was a fans whistle that was removed during one of the breaks from plant before the guitar solo. Anyone else remember these things?
    Also part of your background sounds, small little bit, reminds me of the song from willy Wonka 😅

    Plants vocals here are pitchy here. Also this concert was recored at the end of a gruelling tour, im a big a zeppelin fan as anyone. But can't endure the song remains the same due to the pitch control issues plant exhibits and the band sounded so jaded, during these songs.

    • @rwesleyslaven
      @rwesleyslaven  Год назад

      It’s always so hard to draw the line between pitchy and just feeling the music but I can hear it now that you said it. Any recommendations to peak performances?

      @@rwesleyslaven any shows from 69-72,
      The knebworth shows in 79, ive always adored (particularly achilles last stand, kashmir are good starting points for the knebworth shows) . They were very polished by then, plant hadn't sung live for 2 years, Remember zep were different generally live than on the record. Lots of instinctive improvising. A raw sound too,

    I think Plants bad years were some of 1975 and 1977. His voice was better in ‘79, and then most of the 80’s into the 90’s. He maintained a powerful and emotive voice up until….I would say…2018. His new album with Krauss is good, but I saw them last summer, and his voice is definitely weakening…….not surprising since he’s 75. He’s my favorite all-time male rock vocalist.

    • @badgeholderdave

      IMO The 75 tour was the worst for Plant...came back too soon after the throat operation. He was far far better on the 77 tour.

    Considering this was their best concert, it certainly wasn’t Plant’s worst year, his vocals were amazing at these concerts for their movie. If this was a bootleg video, that person sure moved around, far away up close & behind them. Unless they pieced their far away footage, with the professional footage. The Song Remains The Same should always be played with The Rain Song, they go together.

    II’ve heard Jimmy say in interviews that this song is actually a fair amount of a bitch to play. Not being a guitarist, I don’t know why, but that’s what he’s said.

    • @rwesleyslaven
      @rwesleyslaven  Год назад +1

      If I had to guess it’s probably a combination of the twelve string and also having to arrange for a single guitar instead of overdubbing, especially that they transition into The Rain Song which is in itself played on a twelve string on the studio album and then a six string here

    69>72 Plants prime. Like superman prime. God level GOAT voice.
    73 - went slightly downhill. Basically he blew it out. Developed nodes.
    Had surgery
    75 was very bad. He also had a really long flu.
    77 it got a lot better, but hardly any content due to his sons death.
    79 - Knebworth was pretty good. 80’s we’re ok too, but then Bonzo died.
    85 live aid was terrible, mainly because no practice and Plant was touring heavily right up to the concert.
    90’s - some nights he was brilliant, others not.
    07 - absolutely nailed best he could.

    • @badgeholderdave
      @badgeholderdave Год назад

      Agree 75 tour was his worst....not sure what you mean re "hardly any content in 77 due to sons death" He sang a lot better on the 77 tour and the tour only ended when his son died. (most dates had been completed).
