Yeah it did. She was supposed to have an album called “Pressure Free”, scheduled for release in fall 2007 but it never dropped. A few songs from the album leaked early on and I guess that along with her insecurity of being much older than her female rapping counterparts at the time sealed the deal of this masterpiece getting scrapped. Along the way, I think most of her recordings were too “dated” by the time late ‘07 rolled around and that just made her abandon it altogether. Sad because of what’s leaked so far those songs could’ve done alright on the urban pop aspect of the charts with a little promotion and fresher sounding beats.
@@UnreleasedUnderratedRnBgrooves oh wow, I didn't know that. I always wondered what happened because I was anticipating on getting her album when it dropped.
@NeicyJ1990 you’re not alone, I remember when I first peeped on classic Wikipedia in late 2006 that she had an album underway, I was stoked! One of the album’s songs (“Uh Huh” with Busta) was simply fire, my ears craved for more. And whispers of Timbaland, Swizz, JD, Cool & Dre and my baby Missy E recruited as producers?! Yay 👏 …then 2008 hit and I remember reading that the album missed its tentative release and went shelved. The more I look back on it, I don’t buy the “age” issue I think the real problem was that people weren’t ready to see her outside the 106 & Park title; ultimately preventing her from venturing out musically. Irritating because she was the definition of multi-talented. She could rap & sing very well, a lot better than most of the commercial R&B ladies wasting the limelight circa late 2000s-present.
the guitar chords combined with the minor sine leads and rhodes in this are heavenly
This reminds me of late nineties, early two-thousands R&b/Rap vibes. So lovely to hear during the era of "mumble ho-ism"
Such a chill bop.
Nice one
Free talked about coming out with an album for the longest on 106 & Park but it never happened. It must've gotten shelved ? 🤔
