Love seeing amazing local businesses to support! Random ask/ idea I was wondering if you might do a series on “a day in..” about different areas and how to make the most of a day? For example if we are staying in Poipu but want to road trip a day to another part of the island what are some must see including of course spots to stop and just enjoy the view? Mahalo for all you do!
I really just don't want to be a responsible adult and go to work and stuff because watching your videos make me so dang happy that if I can't be there, I'll live it through you!😂 My husband and I visited 10 years ago and now we are coming in June and we are bringing our teenager/adult kids! Watching your videos makes me realize how much we missed the first visit!! Thank you so much for all you do with these videos as they are so helpful (and are a wonderful escape from Utah's freezing snow 😩). You two are amazing and darling and we all hope we run into you when we visit! I gain weight just watching these food videos 😐😂
This is GREAT! We will be in Kauai over our daughters birthday and definitely will be ordering a cake from Kawaii Kokoro, thanks so much for the great idea!
Aloha Alyx! Oh my goodness this is so great to hear!! Did you check out their IG and FB pages? I really do love the unicorn cake..hahaha! You'll have to let us know if you do get a cake. Send us a pic! Thank you so much for watching!
On Hawaii Time yes! I’m following them on IG now. I’m super torn between a Moana cake or the Unicorn one is super cute and our daughter loves unicorns! I follow you guys on Instagram as well and will tag you in a picture! We’ll be there next month, and will also be getting lots of other sweet treats here...we all have a giant sweet tooth. I’m also super excited to try the earl gray caramel at the sweet shoppe! Thanks again for all you do, you’ve helped me plan our entire trip!
An other good vid! Probably way too much sugar for me but it was entertaining. You know until a couple of years before I had ever watched a you tube vid of Hawaii I had never tasted a mango - or lillikoe but when I can I now like! Good tropical fruit is so hard to find in SW Ontario and most are imported from Mexico and Central and South America. But I am expanding my tastes and you guys are helping. So thanks!
My first visit to Kauai'i, i put 797 mi on my rental...How did I not see Kauai'i Kokoro? I donot even recognize land markes. I tried to avoid tourists and did very well at that. I'll look for it this time. Really enjoy OHT...so positive and beautiful...always and aloha
Wow that is a lot of miles!!! It is off the beaten path but Tip Top Cafe is a popular place for visitors too, which is right across the street. Yes, check it out this time for use! Thank you so much for your positive feedback :)
Profiterole is pronounced "small cream puff". As a whole, food on Kauai is a struggle, because if it is expensive only the tourists go and they only return once every 5 years so it usually is average, compared to mainland, but the ambiance gives it extra points . The local centric places don't advertise in the visitor magazines as they are too thrifty, and those are the ones that try to make good stuff. A rule of thumb I like to follow is that if the owner works there, it is worth a visit. Unless it is a chain, like dukes or keokis or the chains in kukui'ula. Next should be a food truck episode as each truck is found everywhere on the island during the week. Or a budget eating episode. Include the snack shop on koloa, Costco hotdog, dani's, shrimp station (now closed in kapaa), places less than $12 a meal. Additionally do an episode on the west, and the kingdom people, try to find a public restroom in waimea as a howlie and try to get a bathroom key from the local sales person. Go to the drag strip. Do an episode of the hanepepe salt, and why you can only buy maui black salt at the hanepepe spice store. Do an episode where you buy an appliance or a sofa. Do an episode on ohana in Kauai, teenage pregnancies, and respect for the elders and define the three sounds of the word Hawai'i. Do an episode on Kauai only, ni'i hau shells, monk seals, saimon, shave ice differences, Kauai annexation by the king without a battle, ownership of the land on the island, the Robertson's. Adds a little more than restaurant and tour reviews. Also read a few yelp reviews of area hotels and resorts to find out what people are happy/unhappy about their stay on the island and address that, koloa landing resort has alot of reviews. Most people want to maximize their stay on the island by feeling a part of it. Maybe discuss the various religious things like a kahuna, kapu, and a heiau, from laymans terms. Maybe go to a few luau's to compare them. luau's tend to be loved or hated. Maybe have a new hawaain word per episode. Have a seafood episode, where to get sushi and poke, good and on a budget ,. Is big save sushi worth it? I hear that all the time, "where is the best sushi?" Lastly get another Kauai youtuber Joe olivaris on you can find him at Hilo Hattie's occasionally .
Aloha Andrew!!!! These suggestions are AMAZING!!! Will you just come here and be our producer?? Hahahahaha! A lot of these suggestions are great for a live chat. But I have to be honest, after the past couple of terrible live chat experiences I've been super hesitant to do a live again. The trolls are so awful. We are thinking that we may eventually move the lives to Patreon that way we know for certain that only our community will be there to participate. That's going to take a lot of work on my part though, setting up another platform. If only this was my actual real job :) LOL!
Kawaii Kokoro is my fav bakery nicest folks and best pastries at best prices those are my peeps !! 🥰🥰 there is a massive lilikoi vine at shippys I brought back to life and it’s amazing goes off for many months too 🤙🏼 also Aloha Roastery is equally great so try many different pastries one I hit at beginning of 🚴🏽♂️ then at end 🚴🏽♂️ I hit both bakeries yes you were saying profiterole correctly😂🥰😘
My husband and I visited Kauai for a week and a half during Thanksgiving time, and we loved it. We didn't have any sweets at the places you highlighted, but we bought sweets (the pineapple slush and some ice cream bars) at the Saturday farmer's market two weeks in a row. Lilikoi was one of our dinner stops on our trip, and we ate so much we couldn't have dessert! If their dessert is anything close to being as good as their dinner was, people are in for a treat! Thank you for making these videos. You helped me plan for our trip and created some serious hype for us. Kauai will forever hold a piece of our heart, and we will definitely be coming back someday (hopefully for much longer!). All the best to you two! ❤
Aloha Celise! We are so happy to hear that our videos have been helpful. Thank you very much for watching and for your positive feedback. When you come back to Kauai, and if you happen to see us out and about please be sure to say hello!!
Aloha Lee! Thank you so much for your view and for sharing your opinion. We love to promote local businesses which is a big part of the Kauai experience in addition to the beautiful scenery. Unfortunately because of rules/laws we are unable to do videos of the beach, in the mountains, on state/county lands at our leisure because of permitting. We do our best to follow the rules, although you'll find many others on RUclips that do not. Believe me we would LOVE to take you to the beach, on a hike, fly our drone, etc every weekend but we are limited. Please be patient with us as we are doing our very best to work on this situation. Thank you.
Love, love, love Kawaii Kokoro! And it's right down the street from our favorite place to get really delicious vegetarian food . . . the Greenery Cafe. So glad you also mentioned Hanalima Bakery. Whenever we're leaving the island and are on our way to the airport for an early flight, we love to stop off at Hanalima Bakery because they have some delicious savory morning baked goods. Plus, they're right across the street from the Shell gas station so we can fill up our car before heading to the airport!
Aloha Chip! YES the savory goodies from Hanalima are the best!! Thank you again for always supporting us and for watching. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Hahahaha...man oh man I was struggling with that one so bad. Thank you, I have it now. :) Thank you for watching and for always giving us positive feedback!
