What I'm still trying to figure out is why the ultra rich who presumably don't need more money like billionaire Mr. James Cameron here would bother spending time doing this for a paid service. The monetary benefit is very little, so is this intended to be altruistic? Considering the price tag, that's practically nonsensical.
They clearly don’t need the money, especially not James Cameron, but he wasn’t born wealthy. Heck, he was a truck driver for years before taking the plunge into filmmaking and never even went to film school. I think a lot of people like this reach a point in their lives where they’d like to pay it forward somehow and pass on some of the knowledge they’ve learned over the years.
Isn't it obvious? Of course it's not about the money when you have a billion. He's done everything you can do as a Hollywood filmmaker, broken every box office record, married a model and lived out his childhood fantasies of being a deep sea explorer. He's nearly 70 now, the only logical thing to do is to share his story and leave a trail of breadcrumbs for the next generation of aspiring filmmakers about how to make great films, sharing his methods and experience.
The premise is, for when your story has next to no premise of any interest and/or value: Be sure to slather on he eye-candy and every dramatic effect, like that of mystery, suspense and irony, you can lay your hands on :-)
i lost respect years ago his last good film was true lies and that wasnt all that great by the time titanic rolled around i was completly out he sold out
You're right. He completely sold out! Every theater was BOOKED. Top grossing movies ever made. Rich relatable stories. I'd love to sell out like he does
