I love how you are saying we don't have to color a whole page. "lightbulb moment" "Pick an image." "Straight color." How freeing is that for a beginner!!! Thank you for the encouragement...❤️
Yes! Baby steps! It can get overwhelming looking at a page as a whole instead of looking at one object at a time and keeping that as your focus. Move on later when you're ready.
I’m currently battling cancer, and the ColorIt glitter gel pens and the ColorIt mandala book have been fantastic during this time, I don’t have to focus too much on blending, colour combos or anything. I can just sit down and add colour and it looks fantastic. Highly recommend the product for beginners.
I would purchase an adult coloring book, only to be overwhelmed and intimidated. Thank you for sharing your gift. You’re an amazing teacher and guide. You are the adult coloring guru.
I love your videos when you start talking about pencils you say “don’t need them all” but the addiction is real so I hear “you need them all” 🤣. No seriously I truly appreciate the work you put into these videos and how much I have learned from you. Thank you ❤️
I hear you…just had a manic burst during Prime Day in which I bought the Markart 120 set and FIVE sets of Black Widows I hadn’t yet bought. 🤨🙄At least the BW sets were mostly the smaller ones. Except for the Monarch’s. Okay, okay, I admit it: I bought darn near the entire line of BWs in a single day. 🫣🤫Hey, inflation means I probably won’t be able to afford ANY new pencils soon!

I have been coloring off and on for the past year but for the last 3 to 4 months I've been really getting into it, but it seems like there is so much to learn especially with the pencils. My goal for 2022 is to use colored pencils properly including shading and lighting. 🥰
I was scrolling through my feed and I saw just the top of your video...I was like, yeah, where do I start? I'm feeling so overwhelmed....and you're talking aboit coloring books 🥺 it's okay though, you helped me remember that coloring helps me calm down.
You had me at color by number. I'm so new that I didn't even know that was a thing lol Picking colors is one thing that has stopped me from getting into coloring. Thank you 😊
I am really learning so much from your beginner series although I’m not a “true” beginner. I am however, one who has to have it all than I get so overwhelmed that tend not to do anything 😂. Thank you for all the work and time you put into making these detailed and well explained videos and all the links you provide for us. ❤️
I am years into traditional Watercolors and I consider myself such a beginner in the Adult Coloring Book world... I NEED videos like this so I appreciate you! That gray scale book by Jane Summer looks absolutely wonderful!
Some of my best pages have been from the mini Crayola books I got at the $ store. Very satisfying finishing a piece in a couple hours. Also picked up the the 8 packs of glitter, pastel, and neon crayons. Very basic, cheap, and fun.
Even though I don't consider myself a beginner anymore, I still really appreciate you for making this video. Sometimes even as a more advanced artist, it's sometimes great to simplify things and get back to basics or change pace to prevent the dreaded artist block or even help get over the funk of being in one...👍❤ Thankyou again Pamela, your advice and talent is always amazing. Would love to see you color in one of the miniatures books with your crayola set!!!
You are a wonderful teacher, a wonderful colorist, and a wonderful person. I would recommend you to anyone just getting started, and learning a relaxing, fun new hobby. It is such a fun hobby, too.
Aww. Thank you so much Jean. Thank you for always watching my videos and always leaving such sweet positive comments here. They really make my day. Have a wonderful weekend.
I just got the ColorIT Gel pen set of both the glitter and original and refills for 35.00. I love them. I like pencils too but I like BOLD in your face colors. I got a different gel pen set first and the first set was a disappointment. Then I watched lots of reviews and got the ColorIts and they are NICE. and the cases are a dream. Thanks for all the tips and ideas. HUGS

Thanks for such a great video! I started coloring a little over a year ago and have gotten overwhelmed with supplies etc…I really love the selection of books you have shown asI I have learned I do like to be able to color smaller pictures/objects at a time. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with all the coloring books and coloring supplies that are out there. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Happy Coloring!
Hi thank you for this video . I learned with Polychomos and love them but they are HARD ....My Man just picked up 150 set of Prisma colors ....I am looking forward to using them and following your tutorials . Happy coloring xxxxx
Thank you so much for this video, you are wonderful at explaining things, I have those little books, I am going to go back to basics and use them, I have been colouring for a while but lately I have been feeling overwhelmed and not been able to do a page on my own....a follow along on one of those cute little books would be great. :)
Hi this is really helpful. Ive been colouring for a few years now, but only in the last few months I’ve been upping my game, trying to use colour and shade and highlights, blending etc, so watching this video makes me realise I’m not a beginner any more. Maybe a toddler colourist instead of a baby colourist 😄 very helpful video, I have the full black widow set and I love them so much 😄
I actually redid this video. I have a similar one from more than a year ago, but I thought it needed to be redone since so many of my ideas and thoughts had changed. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video.
Nice Video. I started off in Creative Haven books by Teresa Goodridge and The Nice Little Town books. 😃 Now I'm working with Fairies to expand my coloring skills.
Glad I kept watching you after seeing your 2022 favorite books, this is the perfect vid for me, there's always the burden of choice that can come with a new hobby. I would say even before buying a book, I think I will prefer some scenes and slightly smaller, detailed stuff. Small enough where I won't drive myself crazy with pencil strokes over a larger area of coloring as I'm starting out. The world of flowers might just be my first purchase, especially because it has both scenes and individual pieces to try. And VERY glad you went over options for colored pencils, great pricing on them too, I will say at first I thought I would go for a 120 set, to have ALL the options, but I honestly might try the widows! (edit, ooof never mind on the widows for now, the first set (the one with the actual widow on it) is 53 euros! the other sets are 16 euros, goodness me....
Very helpful, thank you so much. The gel pens here in uk are over £80 and the markers over £50 so as ohuhu are only £20 that will be my choice. Thanks again. It’s nice to feel there’s no right or wrong just choices that suit, and I like the different books too.😁😁😁
This is me. I have been a papercrafter and I wanted to learn color theory and I thought coloring books would really help me. I only invested in one line of pencils and one line of markers. I have prisma premiere and blick studio brush. I have my pencils in a case with a good sharpener and eraser.
This is a great range of suggestions! Thank you for all the work you put into your videos. 🤗 Rita Berman's art is growing on me, I have a couple of Easter-themed pictures to work on this weekend.
Pamela’s Passion for Pencils, I’ve been coloring for a few years now….and yes, I stick to my Crayola pencils…So, I’m not that great at blending and all the ways I’ve seen on here. However, my question is that I’ve seen pencil erasers. Which one would you suggest for Crayola pencils?
Hi Pamela, thanks for sharing this video for beginners. Which is a better color pencils for layering, blending and vibrant colors? The Crayola or the brutfuner square pencils? Both about the same prices but the latter comes in a box. Thanks
I'm not sure if you do already have one I can't find, but searching for a color along or tutorial for this book comes up empty.. I have the Easy Coloring Book by Jade Summer, it would be great for some of your 'beginners series' videos to be with this book if you still have it!
Is it cheap paper in these books? I only have one coloring book from Crazy Art and the paper is just awful, making coloring not a good experience. So I give up! I've been using my 150 Prisma Color pencils that I splurged on. Thank you! These books look really fun to do. I'm kind of a beginner
I love books that have smaller items to color. I love JB book called 30 days of creativity. That book had so many smaller images and motifs to quickly color. What would be another book like that one?
Totally off topic. Do I remember correctly that you were going to reorganize your Prismacolor pencils by color family? I was given a used 150 set, and I want to switch them.
Hi Pamela! I have the prismacolor pencils 150. I want to buy another set. Which do you recommend for a second set of fun pencils? Inktense, black widow, Holbein, polychromos, Caran d asche etc? Thank you!
There were lots of suggestions in the video. If you check the description box, everything you've seen in this video will be there. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching!
I love the premise of this video, but over half of it focussing on books was thoroughly overwhelming. I was more overwhelmed after watching this because there was too much. A beginner doesnt need to.have so many books thrown at them from the get go. Three or four books was more than enough. You focused far too much on your favourites, rather than the practical needs of a beginner. Books, pencils, pens, sharpeners swatches, erasers, etc...
I bought the jarlink. I'm so excited to have a good electric sharpener. My only problem, is that is doesn't auto stop after rotating the dial. Even when I put it on 3. I should have just left it alone 🥹. But it does sharpen amazingly 😁

Yes! Baby steps! It can get overwhelming looking at a page as a whole instead of looking at one object at a time and keeping that as your focus. Move on later when you're ready.
Awesome... I never complete a whole page.. I just pick the main object on the page and color.
