Eagle Creek Fire - Flyover

The Eagle Creek fire burned popular recreation areas in the Columbia River Gorge in the late summer of 2017. As soon as the rains came, we took to the air and documented the extent of the fire. The fire burned in a patchy mosaic, leaving many trees alive and creating openings for wildflowers and plants to emerge.
Expert forest scientist John Bailey joined us in the air and gave us his reaction. We also visited an area in the Clackamas River that burned in 2002 and recovered naturally.
