Teenagers at school can be just like what the video showed. Crazy, random, and sometimes not making any sense. Just having fun at school.

I enjoyed a vlog from a high schooler going to school in Japan, if you can find it, it was very interesting!

End of the school year. Not real serious study going on. That was a computer class. Teacher was more than likely not in the room. They don't behave like that in classes.

This is what all the schools near me are like, but most places aren’t like this. I had to go to small Catholic schools but when I’d visit my friend’s schools that were closer to my house they all looked like this.
I liked being in smaller schools! 😊

They are acting like teenage males in America...silly,cute, wonderful,smart,happy...we love our kiddos...the Asian kids are the smartest and earn the best grades, usually. America is so blessed because we have people feom all over the world 😮so our xulture "american culture" is basically every culture world wide. Our foods include Asian, American, Southern Cajun,Italian,German,Mexican, and on and on and on. My fave food is southern 'soul', then Mexican and Asian, then Italian, and american which is some of it all cooked daily in my home. You will find out why we love the USA so much. Totally amazing. My ancestors came in early 1600's. My Creek Indian ancestors on both sides of my family were already here in Alabama when my DuBois ancestor came down here feom LongIsland,NY

In science classes where there are laboratory exercises it is more common to have two person black tables surrounded by science stations at the perimeter of the room. There is a lot more room to spread out at these tables and put your head down and sleep during a very boring educational film. Just don't get caught doing that! Individual desks are nice for classes where there might be group projects, discussion groups such as Social Science and Language classes because they can be moved and arranged in a circle.
The students are all wearing athletic shoes or sneakers. The squeakiness is because the floors are vinyl or linoleum.
Schools have laptops available or students can check out a laptop for the year. This is an affluent school. Look at how new the student's clothing looks and it is at the end of the school year. These kids have access to a dermatologist (mostly, clear unblemished skin) and orthodontics (straight teeth). They are also well nourished. When I went to high school I was living in a blue collar town in Los Angeles. We had had a major earthquake and had to go to school in bungalows that were hot in the summer and cold in the winter. We had to share lockers with 2 - 3 people for each locker. I couldn't wait to graduate from high school.
The reality of public school in the USA is in richer areas you are going to have newer and better facilities and equipment for the students. The funding usually comes from property taxes. The poorer areas give students what they need, the classes tend to be bigger and the facilities aren't fancy. My daughter lucked out at her first high school at Ft. Collins, Colorado which was brand new. The floors and walls were polished stone, the school mascot was a stuffed timber wolf which was kept in a glass case at the entrance of the school indoors and everything was brand new. It was absolutely gorgeous.
There's a lot of good natured teasing going on between the vlogger and the other male students. Zooming on the black student's adolescent acne for instance. The game played between the vlogger and his friend upstairs is rock, paper, scissors. It is used to determine who goes first in competitions similar to flipping a coin. Rock breaks scissors, paper covers rock, scissors cuts paper. Look it up on RUclips.
School lunches tend to have a salad bar, pizza bar or main dish like tacos and milk or juice for the beverage so a student can choose from a wide variety of foods. It is supposed to be nutritionally balanced but a lot of school have soft drink and snack foods for sale in dispensary machines to make money for school programs in the junior and senior high school levels. I think that healthy food choices are what should be offered for students since these kids are growing and junk food are empty calories.

I don’t know how other states work, but here in Texas, property taxes are collected and distributed by school district. They even take money from wealthier school districts and redistribute it to the poorer school districts. In the end, there is never enough money. Parents at schools end up raising money to help cover extra things. This is where the disparity is.

This kid was just playing around with his friends (mostly) between classes. About all you found out was how high school kids play around when they're together. Between classes kids aren't particularly serious. Why should they be? If he had shown what some of the classes were like, it would have told you more because that's where they spend almost the whole school day. But if the teacher noticed him taking videos, he would probably be asked to quit recording and pay attention to the lesson.
It's not a bad video for what it is. Mainly it's about his easy friendship with his classmates.
Oh, and he was playing "rock, paper, scissors" with his friend standing right next to him but not in the picture. He just showed a close-up of his own hand. He was being funny the way he recorded that scene. At least I thought it was funny.

Of hundreds of school teachers are being investigated for sexual misconduct in the Chicago area alone half were substantiated for the 21/22 school year. When I was in school I knew a few friends in adult-student relationships that resulted in pregnancies. One of them got married and that ended when she found out he found someone else presumably at the school he taught at. I feel like this wouldn't be such a national problem if it weren't for the dynamics between the teacher's unions and a particular party affiliation. Even for grooming text messages, teachers are very hard to get rid of. I feel like it's generationally learned helplessness since the teachers would have learned it from somewhere themselves.

@MyEnglishWorld -- This NOT an average high school. For starters, the number of students per class is less than half of normal. Also, I agree with you. This makes no sense. Just hearing the interactions, and glimpsing classroom walls, there is a lack of educational subject matter. I'm fairly certain these kids have lived rewarded for participation rather than accomplishment. This school is a mess. I seriously doubt that they could pass the national basic standards tests. They display disordered thinking and problems with priorities.
Aleks, it really is ok to call bullshit bullshit. Flattery does not build competence. That's a babysitting center, not a high school. The school has money, tools, toys ... everything but competent teaching. The negative effects are masked by all the money. Aleks, you are "supportive" to the developmentally disabled. To all others you are challenging. Properly taught, children will rise to expectations, but first they must be trained in the tools of learning. There was little evidence of these tools here.
So ... call inferior what it is: inferior ... and move on.
You cannot build anything real using imaginary bricks.
I noticed that you commented on teen mispronunciation and incorrect grammar. Very good ! Don't make allowances for "culture". Here's a clip from a film you really should have on your viewing list. ==> ( ruclips.net/video/ng3rp7uffe8/видео.html )

I don’t think you can truly judge the educational value of this school based on one student vlog at the end of the school year. Also, you must take into account that he is a senior and could be taking classes that aren’t as full, especially if he is in the advanced classes.
Maybe I’m the one under a rock, but this looks and feels very familiar to me.

      @@heatherhere He's a Junior. Senior next year.
In all that chaos, I was watching the periphery of every shot, listening to the content of the background sounds. End of year does tend to be slack in some places, but my experience was two weeks of finals.
Ya know, there is this informational resource called "the internet". Schools can be checked.
I'm willing to watch a vlog on the subject by someone whose sense of story and context suggests competent instruction in English class.
