Infermon killed the villain cliché. No monologues, no waiting for your opponent to get stronger, he did everything right!
I guess it was the writers that dropped the ball, they couldn't go without giving him a voice
not so fast.
@@ZinfinityX the voice is a dub thing. in the original Japanese version he is silent.
Dude I was about to say the same thing, the only character I know who actually broke that rule in anime
He also fucked with telecommunications companies to screw with Tai's internet, IIRC; and as Diablomon launched a god damn nuke at their apartment to get them off his back. Super intelligent villain.
The most unrealistic part was that all the kids watching had impossibly-perfect connections for the time lol.
Actually Japan's infrastructure was a lot better than USA's at the time. Do you remember pokemon crystal? That had online in Japan that worked by tethering to your cell phone's connection, which was 2001 (1 year after this movie came out). This feature wasn't even released in America because we didn't even have casual cell phones much less cell phones with data plans. Though they do touch on slow connection in the movie (Matt was stuck at his grandma's using her slow ass network).
Most realistic part was Infermon not waiting for the digivolving to finish
I had to like.. unlike. Then relike this comment because it was funny
Yeah dial up was trash lol

Its supposed to be instantaneous, however an in-world explanation I found from a comment might explain it.
Lag - Since the digi-destined are in the human world, the speed of data being passed to their digimon is slower, thus lagging, and you can see it in Infermon to Diaboromon that it was supposed to be instantaneous.
Dude, this guy has to be the smartest villain not just in digimon, but in anime in general, he's like,
"should I digivolve to the same level as them to keep the power levels even? Naw fuck that I'll just skip ahead and wreck them!"

He's just generally genre savvy. Effectively terrifying. He attacked them mid transformation and he knew exactly what he was doing. He escaped while giggling to himself because the bugger knew it worked, he didn't even have to wait for the smoke to clear.
He also fucked with telecommunications companies to screw with Tai's internet, IIRC; and as Diablomon launched a god damn nuke at their apartment to get them off his back.
@@MajoraZ And once Omnimon shows up and defects his attacks he dosen't try and fight; he simply stalls.
"I'm fine just one question who Tentomon!?"
Damn Infermon hits hard
I find it kinda of terrifying that the enemy e-mailed them, like “oh shit this thing knows exactly where we are”
I mean, this dude was pretty much born in the Internet.
He was literally created from a collection of computer viruses (in the original... the bit tying him to Willis was part of the English Movie's hackjob to tie the movies together), and exists primarily on the Internet. Navigating the net and identifying his enemy's addresses would be as inherently instinctual as breathing.
And in the original japanese, he had no voice; the emails were his ONLY means of communication.
@@svin7987 Fair. He's saying "moshi moshi", an informal japanese telephone greeting. But it sounds like he's using an automated text to speech thing rather than Infermon itself actually speaking through the phone. I'm not sure I'd count that as "having a voice".
Not only that
But then opted to launch nukes in order to destroy them soon after 🪦

They killed it for real.
OG was so much better. No words, just actions. Savage.
@@GudaGudaPaisen Different tone.
I think the german version did it even better (in terms of casting, peformance wise they're pretty much even). They gave Keramon a really deep voice which somehow ended up both intimidating and creepy (in my experience, characters that are written to be any kind of scary can only pull of one)!
That's the other scary thing about this Keramon. He saw that two champions were attacking him, so he said "Wanna play rough? Okay fine." And skipped straight to Ultimate Level.
2:55 Everyone, Look Out!
*Not so fast!*
I love how Infermon was intelligent enough to attack Greymon and Kabuterimon while they were digivolving to Ultimate. And in the next battle even prevented Patamon from digivolving too.
Patamon is almost the strongest Digimon in the entire series. Of course he would wipe him off the board.
The smartest villain that doesn’t go by villain standards.
@@wolfbane7497 he’s one of the strongest I wouldn’t go so far as saying he’s the strongest out of the group.
Those minute long transformation sequences screwed them over that time
My headcanon is that normally digivolving is almost instantaneous, but because the kids in this are so far from their digimon and are relying on an internet connection it takes longer
Infermon straight up said: "This ain't dragon ball z. I'm not finna just stand here and let you transform."
For some reason when infermon shoots his spider shooter, the sound it makes always stuck with me
Sounds like a pulse rifle
For me it's the way his head just recoils with every shot.

The funniest to me as a kid was realizing everyone could watch the transformation sequence. It just takes up the whole screen.
I still find that funny :D Like, I thought that the sequence only exists for us as the audience but then everyone in the movie is watching the same thing as us :D With the English dub commenting on all the strange things that happen thanks to the original animation sometimes not making sense, I'm surprised the original digidestined didn't comment on being able to see the digivolution on screen for the first time :D

As cool and smart as it was to see Infermon attack Greymon and Kabuterimon while they were digivolving to Ultimate, it makes you wonder why he's the only villain who has ever done this. I mean this shows that Digivolution isn't instantanious and the Digimon digivolve in complete sight without protection. So do other villains just shit and watch as the Digimon digivolve and Infermon was the only smart one who attacked? Not just this time but he attacks patamon before he can evolve to Angemon in the next scene as well.
+QuillsOnWheels it's like DBZ they just wait so they can have a tougher fight, while infermon basically didn't want a fight he wanted to just get rid of them

@@crimsoncrusader518 I tried watching the original the other night and after 20minutes switched back to the Western one. Honestly, there is so much charm in the dub when it comes to the script and the soundtrack that it was truly perfect for western children and it's still good enough for me now as an adult!
I mean, the individual parts are good, hell, Our War Game is amazing, but when they were all duct taped together and put in theaters…

i just love how not only did he skip his champion form. [ Chrysalimon] but he just went and interrupted their evolution sequence.
His ass was lucky that their evolution speed was slowed down by their net speed. Evolution usually happens in an instant
Would have been stronger if he didn't skip it. Plus I feel Chrysalismon's armor is strong enough to deal with Greymon and Kabuterimon for a bit longer until he could digivolve again
Best Zoom meeting, Ever!
0:59 Could you imagine if that happened on today’s internet while you’re watching RUclips or just streaming on twitch and a digivolution interrupts you
so basically if agumon went to wargreymon immediately this would have been a very short movie...
Knowing Keramon, it would have turned straight into Diaboromon too, assuming it could survive the first hit.
I love the reactions all the other kids watching have when Agumon and Tentomon digivolve for the first time.
If you guys liked that, you ain’t seen nothing yet!

1:50-1:51 (Chuckles Evilly)
Infermon the ONE villain who was genre savy enough to interrupt his opponents from digivoling to next level though why didn't he stop them from turning into mega form later he wasn't even mega himself yet either but that could be answered on writers not wanting to interrupt it so things in battle can get more heated.
Wasn't close enough or the WARP Digivolution was faster.

@@HunterWhoLaughs Cause they seemed WAY farther away from them during their second fight.
@@Igarappappa true
Because he knew that when he became Diaboromon, he could WIPE THE FLOOR with WarGreymon and WereGarurumon.
Man, Infermon's design is a really good example of clean/effective character design. I'm sure some of this is not just the director/team & budget involved but likely just a splash of nostalgia on my end lol.
However *Infermon* really does feel like a new strain of villain for our main cast. Not because of his power level but because, ESPECIALLY in its early stages, his design leans less towards (Admittedly fucking radical) toyetic & operatically villainous bad guy and more towards a truly off kilter corruption of the usual franchise designs.
It's not some whole new style, but rather a carefully twisted spin that communicates both the fact that this being has been *corrupted* by and now operates as a Virus. Keromon most of all comes across as your usual jovial Digimon but with its crazed eyes and distressed unkempt strands flowing from it like a shock of unkempt hair...The poor guy was hopelessly driven from whatever sanity is for a Digimon by what amounts to *voices in his head*
Idk. This turned into a ramble but I really feel like the team involved here really went above and beyond the circumstances/origin of this project to deliver something way more artful than anyone on the executive side had ever intended for
I definitely agree, Keramon’s entire line hits just the right balance between “yes this is still clearly a Digimon” and “does this guy seem off to you?”. He’s unsettling because it’s not entirely clear exactly what’s wrong about him until his Mega form, which looks more outright villainous than it’s previous ones. Even then, by that point Diaboromon’s already established itself as a threat and gets to really go ham with how powerful and creepy it is.
In short, definitely agree with what you’re saying, this guy was so well done.
Infermon did a pro gamer move by attacking while they were digivolving
Infermon? Interrupting the digivolution sequence? HAX! I love this movie. My favorite part of the entire series is how Omnimon is fighting a million freaking Diaboromon clones. And he's not losing.
My favourite part was the realization that he skipped an evolution.
This dude fucking terrified me as a child. Not for the appearance but his acute awareness of its surroundings and opponents. I was SHOOK, when he was like “fuck those digivolutions, in striking now” and even more so later on in the movie he was like “fuck this, I’m dropping nukes” lmao 😰🫣😆
Tentamon and all his evolutions were my favourite. :)
I wish we could have seen Herkuleskabuterimon in this film.
0:32 - If that's sneaking up on him quietly, I'd hate to hear loudly. ^^
"Let's sneak up on him quietly"

Even as a kid I was like WTH
Also it being a super loud attack made me laugh. This movie killed it in the comedy department in general

Infermon actually scared me as a kid and I love it.
its a good looking move and its so fast.
Am I the only one who gets chills hearing Kabuterimon yell “ELECTRO-SHOCKER!” god he was too damn cool
Tentomon was always my favorite and I loved all of his evolutions. I learned about HerculesKabuterimon from the card game when I was 10 years old. It was holographic and I was so thrilled and amazed by it despite the character never making an appearance on the television show.
Izzy: Tentomon!
Tentomon: I'm fine! Just one question.......who's Tentomon?
One of the funniest lines in the whole movie. 😆
Dude got his bell rung so hard
This never crossed my mind before, but this was infermon’s first interaction with another Digimon.
Don't villains know they're suppose to allow the hero's to power-up, no matter how long it takes...? Clearly this guy cheated
The nerves of some people...
Y'know, the bit where Infermon blitzes them mid-digivolution makes me think- Everybody's always talking about wanting more stories with villains that do exactly that. But personally, what I want to see is the other side of the same coin: A team of evolving/transforming heroes (digimon, magical girls, etc.) that only transform 1 or 2 at a time, so the rest can cover them while they're vulnerable. Maybe even have a member of the team who specializes in quick-transforming but at the cost of power or longevity or something, so they can have someone at the appropriate power-level running interference right from the start
I didn't except the digivolving sequence to give me chills, but it did. Good times.
Honestly, what gives me chills is when Tai says "Then they'll just have to digivolve again" To me it shows his leadership skills and that the threat is severe enough they need to go further in power.
Tentomon gives me life
Lets sneak up on him quietly
"Super shocker!
Kabutarimon`s long name got Greymon shot down :P
Somehow after hearing Infermon's voice, I get a bit of Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) vibes.

Keramon scared me as a kid
@@PsychoMadHatter2that weird injured twitching thing he does with the creepy clown hurting sounds he makes always stuck with me
This is one of my favorite scenes from the digimon movie
It used digital ink & paint.
Keramon could have evolved to its Champion level Chrysalimon, but that form would have put it at a disadvantage as it would be unable to move, despite having high defense. In lieu of waiting it out, it skipped the level so that it could actually fight back. That said, had it not been given the chance to evolve naturally, Infermon would have been more powerful.
Which is a scary thought in of itself, how strong would Diaboromon have been if he had Digivolved naturally?! Not to mention his multitude of clones that seem just as strong as the original. Even worse, imagine Armageddemon even stronger; he would've been beyond even the Sovereigns in strength...
2:19 He’s Stronger Than A Champion.
2:20-2:21, 2:22-2:23 And 2:24-2:25 Here Comes Spider SHOOTER!!! (Bang X3)

Infermon broke the number one anime rule 😂
Say what you will about Saban, but damnit if he cannot make a good gag dub.
2:15 what the hell was that sound? That wasn't in the original
God I love the animation they used here
I am almost surprised that interfering with Digivoltution isn’t a thing antagonists take advantage of more. I can see why it wouldn’t be added from a gameplay mechanical standpoint, but it would be something to watch out for story-wise. I even made a special ability for my own future Campaign based exclusively on that alone!!
Full credit absolutely goes to Infermon. A true antagonist way beyond their time!! 😆
Honestly, only issue I ever had with this scene was that Agumon didn't Warp Digivolve to WarGreymon and Tentomon Digivolve to MegaKabuterimon right from the start before attacking.
He was too busy to notice them and by the time he would have potentially heard them, he'd be a Rookie being bombarded by attacks from a Mega and an Ultimate level
Well that would have just been complete overkill. An ultimate and a mega here would have ended the movie
@@coolunusualOh, I get that to an extent. But the fact of the matter is it makes no sense to attack as 2 Rookies when Augumon had said not even 5 minutes earlier that they were more dangerous than the Dark Masters

Izzy, I have a counter theory. He digivolved when you guys weren't at the computer, meaning you missed a stage.
Whenever my younger bf doesn't understand how slow dial-up internet was, I tell him that the Digidestined were using it which caused their digivolutions to be slower and lost them the fight! :D

I was mad when he did it to Patamon too.

me personally if we attack and mans replies with "so you like to play games huh?" we are iimmediately digivolving to mega/ultimate.
It takes a lot of energy to digivolve. Unfortunately, the Digimon don't run on batteries. It wouldn't be wise to go straight to their most powerful forms if it wasn't necessary.
"Why don't the villains attack during the transformations?"
Infermon: "Heard you were talkin shit."
Always wondered why the kids around the world could watch the evolution sequence for the digivolutions since I thought it was just for us in the real world
Fun fact
Summer war is basically a remake of digimon out war game
Would have been cool to see em go ultimate BUT the prevention of digivolving is so badass and smart it's worth it.
Infermon used to scare me a little as a kid because of it's face.
In japan bug blaster is called crazy giggle.
Its crazy how this is left out of the "parts" RUclips vids, you watch the movie in the parts and this entire segment is left out, that's crazy, the action here is some of the best parts of the movie

I’m guessing that this is where they came up with the Data Squad equivalent of Warp Digivolving.
