John did right thing kill the Terrorists. Sam is crazy talking to them they are wrong and killing innocent people. Their motive are selfish and illogical take others things by force..
Gotta remember, Zemo's whole premise was to get rid of super soldiers so there was no way he would take the serum. Also, if you rewatch, you can notice when new Cap John takes the serum (after the speech w/ Lamar) because he starts twitching and all that.
That's why I love Zemo (other than his dancing skills😅) he maaaay be considered "evil" or "bad" but his reasons are reasonable even though he might do some wrongs like killing King T'Chaka but again his intentions make sense
@k3n12ock I think Rico understood that but to his point he just thought Zemo was all talk and had an ulterior motive but of course that wasn't the case
This is exactly why Erskine was so careful when choosing Steve. It can highlight the person's strongest qualities, for good or bad. I may be a sucker but I can't help but feel a bit bad for Walker. I don't believe he's inherently bad but this was thrust upon him and the weight of it is just too much for him, which leads him into making the wrong decisions. He's not Steve. No one can replace Steve, which is the entire point. The shield didn't make Steve - it was the opposite. Sam understands that, which is what makes him worthy of the shield. Bucky understands that about Sam, too which is that Sam will always do what he feels is the right thing (which is just like Steve).
1 thing is that John was a soldier who had experienced tremendous trauma from war. Steve was not a soldier, he was just a kid from Brooklyn who wanted to help. thats why it was so imortant in The First Cap film that Dr. Erskine found a good person rather than a good soldier
Okay but Steve survived the depression as a sickly orphan and fought in WWII before losing his home and his friends trapped in a new time where only one person knows him. He's not without trauma. Walker isn't a "good soldier" he's a flawed human who's an accomplished soldier. Steve is a good person who's also a good soldier. Walker's choice in this parallels Steve's in the first Avenger. The threat for him was Hydra, as far a he knows Bucky has just been killed, and there's Zola. He has a choice to make and he chooses the greater good because he knows as a soldier his mission is to capture Zola because they need the intel he has. Walker has the same choice to make, capture the best source for information they have and hopefully use that intelligence to go after the rest of the flag smashers and the person who actually killed his friend incidentally. He chooses vengeance, he takes a symbol of America and gets his vengeance in front of an international audience who is already questioning if they should trust him or not. It's not a tactical choice, it's not what a "good soldier" would do. It's the choice of a deeply flawed human and one he would have made before the serum just not as effectively.
I broke when I saw Bucky's flashback. After years of torment, he was finally freed from HYDRA's clutches. Of course that didn't mean that the nightmares ended. He's still dealing with that. And something I never thought I would see was the American sheild covered in innocent blood. John just made Nico guilty by association even when he knew Karli killed Lemar.
Innocent? This guy was a terrorist. He was literally holding John for Carly to murder him minutes before. No better than any Hydra soldier Steve killed.
Hardly innocent lol he was part of a terrorist group. Also Cap has killed people before, just not publicly like this. And it is also somewhat reasonable that Walker reacted the way he did. Similar to how Tony tried to kill Bucky when he learned he killed his parents. Except for Walker he witnessed it happen, so of course he wants revenge. Really I don't blame the guy, the only mistake he made was doing it publicly and tainting the reputation of Captain America.
I think this is actually my favourite episode of the series, because it gives you so much insight into what really drives all of the different characters, and you get to see that nobody is pure good or pure bad, they're all shades of grey, and they're all trying (but not always succeeding) to live by what they think is right.
That intro scene in Wakanda is one of my favorite moments. So powerful. And Sebastian shows once again, how great he is at showing us Bucky's emotions. ❤
Y'all are missing that this is still Bucky not trusting Sam, when Walker tries to arrest Carlie. Bucky let Walker through because he didn't quite trust following Sam's lead yet. They are still growing as a team. Also there's always been blood on the Shield. Steve is the ideal, when America was fighting Nazis. Walker is the reality of the complicated and often problematic aspects of American military might and the ugly domestic history seen via Isiah Bradley's story. Walker represents what happens when you follow orders and always say yes to those in power. What separated Steve was that he disobeyed and always focused on being a good man not a perfect soldier. Walker instead is a "soldier" breaking under being forced into a mission he can't possibly complete and being hung out to dry. And when he breaks like he did here, he will be abandoned like so many veterans before him.
agreed !!! ive seen some people make walker out to be a villain simply because he's "evil and taking cap's place", but they forget that walker probably has an intense amount of ptsd and a huge responsibility on his shoulders of upholding the captain america legacy. lets not forget he got 3 medals in one day, imagine the amount of blood that was shed in order to earn that. he went straight from that into this responsibility with no time off or therapy (which he DESPERATELY needs lmao), the government didn't even care about what he went through, only what he can do for them.
I have to tell you, the way the air left my lungs when he raised the shield and did this… I went cold. Incredible to think how much significance that symbol gained over the years of the MCU, and to have the ability to use it in a storyline like this… the writer’s room for this show must have been a wild experience. Steve is one of my ultimate comic and movie characters of all time… this show man. This SHOW.
For me is one of the best ones. He is human, he does what a normal human would do with superpowers. When someone is angry is normal to do things you might be ashamed of later. Plus, un next episode you understand that Walker never asked to be Captain America. He followed orders and when things didn't went as planned the goverment just dumped him. And in the end he did the right thing chosing to save the senators that dumped him instead of killing Karli.
Actually you are supposed to dislike Walker or at the very least question him. He has issues he is ignoring and needs care the same way he dismisses Buckys treatment. In America if you need help it means you are weak and that’s not the case. It’s the way he’s written. With that being said Russell did such a great job that I forgot who I was watching. John Walker is exactly what America is but Steve Rogers is what America wants people to think she is. Walker is the perfect soldier who is bound by rules and as US Agent his limitations are gone!
Rewatching it with you guys I just realized that upon seeing the serum, the established villain Zemo wanted it gone, while the established hero figure John Walker wanted it for greed. And it was framed in one scene to show the contrast of how blurry good and evil really is.
I understand why you guys laughed when the Dora Milaje took bucky’s arm, i did too the first time i saw it, but than i realized why that happened. Shuri could have operated on bucky with the arm and permanently attached it, but she didnt, and why? Because, sadly, they still didn’t trust him
12:19 I get the feeling Zemo's attitude towards/opinion of/reaction to Karli can be summarised as: "You foolish child". In any case, I get why the serum was useful to her but I also would've thought that the idea of a super soldier would be against the politics of her cause and beliefs.
There were some great call backs to previous Captain America movies, In Winter Solider when they introduced Sam and he was helping Veterans with PTSD. When he talked to Carly he had his back to her to show that he was not a threat to her and calmed her down from trying to attack him until Walker showed. Then the contrast in Civil War where Steve did the same move to Tony but obviously didn't kill him and just disable his suit, where as Walker went full rage mode showing how the Serum made his rage even worse.
That ending shot is *chef’s kiss* but also one of my other favorite things in this episode is the fact that the guy that John Walker killed is the same person that mentioned that he was a Captain America fan as a kid Imagine getting killed by the very symbol you once idolized Crazy
This episode is fantastic on multiple levels. When Sam meets with Cali the first time he lets his presence be known but alows her to finish her dedication then alows her to confront him. He established a trust in that moment. Sam has always been one of my favorite characters. He approaches situations from a point of understanding and knowing instinctively that he may not understand the situation. (yes i know that sounds convoluted lol) he followed cap, not because he was captain America but because he was steave Rogers. He is much like steave in moral and principles which is why steave gave the shield to him. Sam relinquished the shield because he didn't feel he deserved it, that he would fall short Thee new capt was named so by outcomes alone (his wins and medals and such) with no regard or respect to the input. hes fights for his pride and now vengeance which is something captain America would never do.
Wow I'm watching this show for the third time (with reactions) and I just realized the paralel between Steve Rogers with the shield on Ironman, trying to save his best friend and John Walker standing on that guy with the shield, trying to avenge his best friend. Steve disarms Ironman. John kills. There's a tiny difference of course one's friend is dead. So I wonder what Steve would do at the time If Tony managed to kill Bucky.
John Walker is such a fantastic character. He's far from perfect, but his journey in this show perfectly illustrates what would happen to someone who is thrust into the role of Captain America. He was chosen because of his physical ability, which to Erskine when he created the program was entirely irrelevant. Who Steve was as a person is what made him such a great Cap: not a perfect soldier, but a good man. Walker is a perfect soldier, follows orders and does exactly what his superiors asks him to do. And he does it very well. The search for Captain America should have centered on personality, but that was purpose was lost and instead became about how physically they had to be similar to Steve. Walker failed because he was put in a situation that wasn't meant for him. He did exactly what he was asked to do, but it wasn't what Cap was supposed to do. He crumbled under the weight of the role he was given, which is what any normal person would have done in his situation. Steve's real superpower was how good of a person he was, and that is why he got the serum to begin with.
Bingo. Walker initially gets shafted purely because he's not Steve, both by the fanbase and in the world of the show, and that's the catalyst behind his bad decisions. He's not a bad guy, he's a real person with real follies and insecurities and that's why he's so compelling as a character. He's a great insert for lots of soldiers who don't get all the love and support despite what they've given to their country and how patriotism can build you up and tear out down. They tried to make Karli a more nuanced villain but I don't think they made her work nearly as well. But at it's core this show is about shades of grey with it's ideals and perspectives.
@@himum3429 Well Zemo was cool too him and Walker definitely the MVPs can't wait to see more of them, btw Walker's suit at the end of the show was pretty clean even if it was just painted black lol
"Because a strong man who has known power all his life may lose respect for that power, but a weak man knows the value of strength and knows compassion". are the words that Dr. Erskine told Steve the night before the Super Soldier serum was place inside him and that is why John could never replace Steve as Captain America.
Also if remember at the end of civil war, tchalla wanted to take zemo to wakanda, but everett ross said he is underNational Security Agency United States Department of State.
The irony that the man who gets killed at the end is the one who says that "today's heroes don't have the luxury of keeping their hands clean." Any rule or policy or value that you enact to be used against your enemies can be used against you, the same way that his group's way of doing things got used against him. Also, everyone who makes the excuse that Walker was "triggered" conveniently forgets that when Bucky was blasted out of a train, Steve didn't kill Zola, despite him being the senior member of Hydra on that train at the time. Steve took him in despite his grief. You're either in control of your emotions or they control you.
Yes but they then preceded to show a montages of Steve killing those hydra soldiers did you forget when Steve threw them out of the plane Can't be bias towards Steve and not give walker a pass
@@richardpage5812 yes surrendered after he held him back so karli could kill him and only because of his friend he didn't die hen ran after karli killed his friend and let's not mention the building of women and children he also blew up and killed 😐
@@jadenhawkins6706Listen I'm not about to play this game with you, you think a psycho is good enough to carry the shield. You obviously have no idea of what Captain America is supposed to represent and it's so blatantly obvious that John is not it, it makes me question the sanity of the person who thinks he should be Cap.🤨
@@richardpage5812 you just ignored my whole point by saying I'm crazy for thinking what he did wasn't wrong cuz realistically he didn't do anything wrong he killed a terrorist just in public you know if Sam or Bucky did that as captain america everyone would say it's justified you can't handle the fact I'm pointing out your bias towards Steve and falcon and Bucky and yes I know captain america is supposed to represent hope.
Also what John did at the end is also a refection of Iron man and Captain America fight in Civil war bc Steve was doing what John was doing but instead of going for the k!ll he went for the arc reactor to stop Tony from using the suit
lol! @ "omg Zemo is going to become a SUPER SOLDIER, to make his work easier!" Then... The disappointed "OH" when you saw the Baron actually stick to his *principles* :)
Great episode. One small thing: I would have loved to see your reaction to Walker's "and they weren't even super soldiers" after the fight with the Dora Milaje. Him saying that and realizing that he got his a.. kicked by regular (at least in terms of the serum) humans is an important reason for him taking the serum. Also: "He went too far" at 20:46 : Monica, would you like to take that back and say it just a teeny-tiny bit later?
You guys need to watch the "Spider-Man" movies and the first season of the "Daredevil" series at a similar time to the "Loki" and "What if?" series. Before you go any further in the MCU.
What sucks about this is the fact the guy said earlier in the episode that captain america was his favorite growing up, and then the new "captain america" ends up killing brutally.
Ironic fact: the flag smasher who died is the same guy who said at the beggining of the episode that heroes should be able to get their hands dirty. as we say in lanti america "el pez muere por su propia boca" (the fish dies by their own mouth)
Not overlooking how many lines John Walker just crossed, but a bit of me is still thinking towards Karli: "Now you've done it!" I think with Lamar it only really just hit her that what she's doing is if not killing then endangering people. It's one thing to plan something it's another thing to do something where people could be killed. And there's a difference between setting off an explosion and actually causing someone's death through actual contact with you. Karli seems to be one of those people who are not ignorant or stupid by any means, who know and understand a lot, but are nonetheless still somewhat naive or at the very least don't know or understand as much as they clearly think they do, and very quickly get in over their heads and loose control of something they never really had control over in the first place because they don't really understand how deep what they're doing or are involved in really is. Granted though, she is no where near as annoying/irritating/self-righteous/self-centred as most other examples I've seen of this type of person (on tv at least). With half of them I'm never sure if it's really about the cause they say they're fighting for or if it's just to show off how clever they are or most of the time think they are.
My one big problem with this show is that Sam is sooo goddamn naive. He expects Karli to just give up and stand down and go on living her life. She killed a lot of innocent people. John does a lot of stupid things, blinded by emotion… but he was 100% right that she needs to be arrested and locked up forever. So do the people that follow her and commit the acts along side her.
Just as a clarification, 'cause things happen so fast that you may not notice everything in the time frame it happens, that Bucky and Sam were not just standing and watching John kill that guy. They went out the exit chasing Karli and ended up losing her in the crowd where they arrived just as John was killing that guy. They didn't have time to stop him (also they were pretty far away) and I'm sure, even if they'd gotten there earlier, they probably wouldn't have thought that he'd KILL the guy. We were following John, so we had an inkling of his state of mind. But yeah, John's actions definitely taint the image of superheroes/Captain America/the US to many who saw and further removes them from "normal" people when it's already difficult to show people that they are also just people (not gods or something on a pedestal) with abilities and skills.
I do get now why john walker snapped... Even with all the temptations his best bud like bucky to steve hold him stay sane died in his face and so all the sanity he hold unto just vanished and he go berserk thinking that he has no other to trust to.
The hypocrisy is mind-blowing. 1. Criticizing John for using his authority while cheering for Wakandan warriors who do what they want and where they want acting against international laws. 2. Criticizing John for termination of a wanted terrorist after this very same guy held him for Carly to murder minutes earlier. And that's how John's best friend died. Can't you remember Steve killing Hydra soldiers? What's the freaking difference? 3. Ignoring the fact that John acted friendly and did his best to get along with Sam and Bucky, while those two trashed him from the very first moment. With absolutely no reason, it's not like John took the shield from Sam with force. John Walker is the most human and realistic person in this series. He's not perfect, and this is perfect. P.S. Dear Rico and Monica, I'm not referring to you personally, but to the general audience. Thank you for yet another entertaining reaction. Stay safe.
Thank You man I thought I was the only one who thought this, but either way I can't wait to see more Walker mainly cuz I just like the idea of a savage version of a Captain America type character and him just fucking people up with his own shield lol
That opening scene with Ayo and Bucky was deep. It had levels. The symbolism of a black woman telling a white man,..."You are free",......in Africa,.... Levels.
Great reaction! 😊 This is one of my favorite episodes. From the opening scene of the flashback of Bucky in Wakanda. To the Dora Milaje vs. John Walker fight. To that very last scene. And I really like that talk between Sam and Karli. You could tell that Sam was making some progress, even if it was just a little bit, with her before John showed up. The next episode is just as good. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
Are you serious!!!! Guys OMG ahhh this episode was soooo good man I can’t even let’s get itttttt
Guys, come onnnnn!!! Why do u do like marvel does??? Releasing videos with multiple days of waiting???? Pleaseee do release at once please!

@@Zombie_Trooper part of why Karli doesn't work as well is because they cut a lot of her story out when the removed the pandemic subplot
I love the character of John Walker without a doubt the best part of this show I can’t wait to see more of him as US agent
Zemo is WAY better imo but that's just me. I like Sam and Bucky's partnership more as well but I defo think that Walker is low-key underrated.
@@himum3429 Well Zemo was cool too him and Walker definitely the MVPs can't wait to see more of them, btw Walker's suit at the end of the show was pretty clean even if it was just painted black lol
Fun fact about the actress who played the leader of the Flag Smashers, she’s the same one who played Enfys Nest in Solo: A Star Wars Story
"Because a strong man who has known power all his life may lose respect for that power, but a weak man knows the value of strength and knows compassion". are the words that Dr. Erskine told Steve the night before the Super Soldier serum was place inside him and that is why John could never replace Steve as Captain America.
Everyone - what did u do walker ?
Meanwhile
Punisher - Attaboy 😎
This is one of my favourite episodes in mcu disney plus tv shows!
@@jadenhawkins6706 There's a difference in him killing during the heat of battle and him killing someone who has surrendered.🤨
Finally 🤩🤩 I love the reactions on these 2
Isn't Okoye saying "God damn you James" after she disables his arm?
She hated doing it, but naturally they had a failsafe with their highend-tech.
That's not Okoye
I can’t wait to see you guys reactions watching Moon Night.. The best show so far❤️
Also what John did at the end is also a refection of Iron man and Captain America fight in Civil war bc Steve was doing what John was doing but instead of going for the k!ll he went for the arc reactor to stop Tony from using the suit
Can’t wait for y’all to see the next episode
I love the Dora Milaje! These ladies are such freakin badasses!!
best MCU reactions on the net
lol! @ "omg Zemo is going to become a SUPER SOLDIER, to make his work easier!" Then... The disappointed "OH" when you saw the Baron actually stick to his *principles* :)
This series i was rooting for Zemo
the super soldier girl is the same character in Disney's hon solo movie
Great episode. One small thing: I would have loved to see your reaction to Walker's "and they weren't even super soldiers" after the fight with the Dora Milaje. Him saying that and realizing that he got his a.. kicked by regular (at least in terms of the serum) humans is an important reason for him taking the serum.
Also: "He went too far" at 20:46 : Monica, would you like to take that back and say it just a teeny-tiny bit later?
Such a brutal ending.
You guys need to watch the "Spider-Man" movies and the first season of the "Daredevil" series at a similar time to the "Loki" and "What if?" series. Before you go any further in the MCU.
The Wakandians are so cool they can do anything them helping Bucky is MVP status
It's one of my most favourite scenes in the mcu when Zemo destroys the serum.
Spot on analysis as always. Great video
What sucks about this is the fact the guy said earlier in the episode that captain america was his favorite growing up, and then the new "captain america" ends up killing brutally.
Next episode is my favorite of the series
If it was me... I would've done the same thing John Walker did... And I will just give up that Shield after that murder...
14:53 actually Howard Stark did they just gave him the vibranium
SAM TO BUCKY BE LIKE: "Did she just... disarmed you?" *smiling tiger smile*
I am actually happy that they kept the vibes from Captain America:The Winter Soldier in the entire show. From the show, the lighting and everything
Ironic fact: the flag smasher who died is the same guy who said at the beggining of the episode that heroes should be able to get their hands dirty.
as we say in lanti america "el pez muere por su propia boca" (the fish dies by their own mouth)
they had to rush through the discussion bit lol you know they had a mini binge.
Me gustan mucho sus videos, saludos desde México :) 🇲🇽🇲🇽
Can’t wait for you guys to get into Loki and Shang-chi
The definition of doesn't pull any punches
The world is watching....📸📸📸
Not overlooking how many lines John Walker just crossed, but a bit of me is still thinking towards Karli: "Now you've done it!"
I think with Lamar it only really just hit her that what she's doing is if not killing then endangering people.
And this is when the marvel universe gets dark
The serum enhanced the person's personality, so he became even worse with ptsd made him psychotic but the serum amplified it
Love this reaction! You guys should try other marvel series like daredevil or the punisher after this, they're the best!
This episode is soo epic
I hope you'll catch up with the recent MCU contents soon.
P.s. Multiverse of Madness is gonna drive Monica crazy lol
You guys should also react to the DC and X-Men movies together
This my favourite episode of this series. It's so good (too bad imo it dips after here, not badly but underwhelming after what this episode sets up)
🔥🔥🔥
U should react to Marvel’s Eternals. Some people didn’t like it but I personally did so I would love to see ur opinion
Love all the MCU shows, but WandaVision and The Falcom & WInter Soldier are the best.
John walker is the best character in this show
No he was not
If Monica took the serum, she'd have psychic powers.
Stay safe.
True. I think people hate him for having the shield and comparing him to Steve Rogers.
Thank You man I thought I was the only one who thought this, but either way I can't wait to see more Walker mainly cuz I just like the idea of a savage version of a Captain America type character and him just fucking people up with his own shield lol
@J_looading1899 will be looking forward to the potential Thunderbolts series or movies together, mate 👍
Careful, you might be labelled as racist
@@archangelmichael3902 Same bro
You really thought Zemo was going to take the serum? Have you not been paying attention to his entire arc?
Rico Presents, have you seen the Incredible Hulk movie from 2008, I haven't find your reaction on that movie
That opening scene with Ayo and Bucky was deep.
It had levels.
The symbolism of a black woman telling a white man,..."You are free",......in Africa,....
Levels.
You guys should react to the Batman dark knight trilogy. They’re really good movies
The most political of the MCU story lines, but wow, how good it was!
Would you mind correcting the watch order in your playlist for the MCU? Everything in Phase 4 is backwards.
hi
Hi
How the hell did carley Morgan get Sam's sister number and know who she was and about his family stuff. That is what botherd me about that phone call
Are you guys gonna watch black panther wakanda forever
It would be better if u guys did 2ep each it's really slow and a long wait
Great reaction! 😊
This is one of my favorite episodes.
