- Have you tried it all? Watched every youtube video about generators ever uploaded?
Do you feel like you are now a licensed small engine mechanic?
Then you know how I feel.
We had tried it all without any success. The generator never made a sound.
It was as if it was locked down and would never start again.
That's when I called a neighbor who works on boat engines for a living.
IF he can handle a boat engine... then he could figure out this generator blind folded.
He checked many of the things I had already checked and then blew me away... showing me something I'm not sure I ever would have thought of.
It must be VERY rare because I still can't find a video you youtube showing the push rod falling out of the rocker arm in the OHV area... but if this video helps one person who was in the same spot I was then it was worth the upload.
Leave a comment if you've ever had this happen to any of your small engines.
Thanks for watching.
Same problem here. You saved my life
awesome! Glad we could help someone!
It would help if you showed how to fix it sir
Thanks for this video! A lifesaver. Had the same issue and was about to take to a repair shop after trying everything. Was able to get the push rod back in by rotating the cylinder with pull rope and using a screw driver to slightly pry up the lifter. Started on first pull. Would also like to know how this happens.
Great! Glad you got it fixed. Thankfully hasn't happened again but I bought a smaller unit for camping from Costco so haven't used this much and of course the power stopped going out after I purchased this and added a transfer switch to the exterior of the house.
Would that cause the motor to backfire with a popping sound when trying to crank
So mine is about 1 year old, only used once. Wouldn't start so I removed cover. Push rod in place. After replacing the cover, it started very next pull, go figure
We have the same issues!
Nothing was helping. We will look at push rod.How could that happen?
If it's not doing anything and you have spark and fuel definitely check under that cover!!!
Did you repair that pushrod yourself or take it in to dealer/shop?
I'm so sorry. Should have shown the process of actually fixing it in the video.
I was so excited to find the problem I didn't think to include the actual fixing part. But it was fairly simple and straight forward to tell where it came from. Literally just pushed it back into place.
Tonight, I was trying to do a test run on my portable backup generator: microwave versus computer! Who will win? And apparently the microwave won bc it made a sound that felt like a fuse could’ve blown
You did not show how you actually fixed it, where the rod is supposed to go.
Sorry about that. All the rods match and look the same. It goes where the indent is for the rod to slide back into place. But you're right I should have shown more detail of getting that rod back into place.
