  • Hurricane Beryl restrengthened into a Category 5 hurricane on Monday, making landfall in the Caribbean. Beryl is moving over the Caribbean Tuesday, reaching wind speeds of 165 mph. It is producing tropical storm conditions, dangerous waves and heavy rainfall over the southern Windward Islands.
At least one person in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is dead as a result of the storm. In Grenada, the storm leveled 90% of the buildings on the island Monday. It also caused serious damage to several of the other Windward Islands. Hurricane Beryl is expected to hit islands, including Haiti and the Dominican Republic, on Tuesday.
