  • Omniverse Code is an application for developers, combining the great Kit SDK Extension that you have seen in Omniverse Create or USD Presenter with a new one dedicated to developer workflows.
Some of the new extensions in version 2022.1:
    - Refreshed Omni.ui Interactive Documentation
    - USD Interactive Documentation
    - The new Omni.ui.scene API for Manipulator and overlay drawing
    - The Omni.ui Graph Framework Example (Already in use for MDL Editor, OmniGraph, GXF Composer, and few others)
    o Omni.ui.Graph New Documentation
    - First Release of our new omni.kit.viewport.* set of extensions, all written in omni.ui and fully configurable in Python
    o Includes Multi-Viewport Support
o External Hydra Renderer Delegate Support
o New Camera Manipulator build on omni.ui.scene
This is also our first application built on Omniverse Kit SDK v103 that will bring new advancements in rendering and OmniGraph.
NVIDIA Omniverse™ is an open platform built for virtual collaboration and real-time photorealistic simulation. Complex creator, designer, and engineering visual workflows are transformed as users and teams connect design tools, assets, and projects for collaborative iteration in a virtual world.

I wish you would make a very basic Python tutorial. Add a prop, and move it around. You start with flying, when walking or crawling is what you need to learn first. I don't know how to load a prop and move it or rotate, scale it, etc. Teach me that first please. I will get to the rest.

Python for extensions and for assets interactions scripts will be possible to use c#?

I think that everyone is genuinely wondering, what does Omniverse really offer apart that's different from the other Engines/Suites? Would be great if they addressed this question. I've downloaded it last night to try it out, but I am still wondering what advantages there would be in using it. Also, I would suppose that this is geared more towards cinematics and 3D artists rather than engineers or developers. Same shift that also Unreal Engine has been making lately. Also the fact that this Omniverse Code has been developed more as an "extension" of Create and View makes it even harder try to think of what the advantages could be. Apart of what this USD file format could bring to the workflow systems.... also because unless you're in some big enterprise, that wouldn't really affect you all that much. Let us please know, Nvidia Omniverse . Also, why python ... and not c#, c++ ?

Ya idk if I like the fact that unless your enterprise class with on-site nexus-server, NVIDIA has full access and rights to your entire data, so I create a connector and Poof!! NVIDIA magically has the same thing…. Hmmmm lol that’s the part they don’t really tell you. I understand this is slightly different. But ya, remind anyone of another software? I’dk

Still don't see the point of this. Why would I not simply use UE and stop there

Every company is building a connector to Omniverse, that should tell you something. I use IClone mostly, and a poker room scene I had slowed down at 5 tables in IClone. In Omniverse I created 20 and wasn't demanding on my system. It's a very powerful framework they are building.

      @@DataJuggler feeling quite confused.
I got the cooperative side of omniverse but i can’t really understand what is the final output.
Let me explain, by using unreal engine to develop something interactive I would expect it to return me an executable output. Does omniverse offer the same capability? It looks like it focuses on application development collaboration during the 3D modeling phase without covering the other aspects of software development (build, deploy, host, etc). Am I wrong?

@@francescomariabrunopicchio4845 For now you can render movies or they have this feature in Render Extension called 'Interactive Standalone' mode for games, but I don't know how to use it. I look at all the companies building extensions and I feel these tools will evolve a lot in coming years.

@@francescomariabrunopicchio4845 Check out the Digital twin factories madein omniverse. In the digital twins, we can actually simulate and train robots and create factory layouts accordingly. Full on ML, AI stuff. That domain is the only valid real use case i found.

It allows creative teams to use tools they already use. It non-agnostic when coding also. Imagine having a team where some people use Unreal and Unity at same time. The only difference between the engines is there code set C# or C+. That’s USD strength.
