Perspective is important. It determines how we live our life. It can definitely either encourages you or discourages you to have the discipline you need stay focus on your end goal. From a self love content creator to another, great video Muchelle! 💗
Super useful video. But in all truth, motivation won't bring you far. You need discipline! Motivation will help you get started, while discipline will keep you moving forward. 🙌🏼
Habits and routines are key. But sometimes when you've been working on loooong term goals (over three months is where I start to struggle), a kick of motivation, clarity and direction is so helpful to get back on track! 🙌🏼
I don't quite agree, I think that motivation and discipline go and in hand all the way. When motivation is running low, discipline helps keeping up progress, and when discipline is hard to maintain, motivation helps getting back on track. For me personally, if I don't feel motivated down the line, it will be harder to stay disciplined.
One of the mistakes I’ve made is judging myself too early. I think sometimes we check in too frequently to look at what we’re achieved and it can make you feel demotivated if you don’t see results. But being patient and kind to with yourself stops you from cutting off the flow of positivity you get just from enjoying what you’re doing ☺️❤️
I have been on Skillshare now for 18months and I haven’t fully taken a class. It is one of the things I am going to start booking into my time in the mornings before work.
The anti-vision idea was really interesting - sounds like a good way of creating awareness of behaviours we do when we’re out of alignment with our values and creates cognitive dissonance to motivate us to move back in alignment with our values - it reminds me of Russ Harris’ “Away Moves and Towards Moves” technique which I also love.
I understand why this exercise is important and I 100% intend to do it today, but I'm SO scared.. I just know I'll burst to tears while writing lol as always, thank you for giving us wonderful advice
Have you done it yet? If not or any one else is scared, try to disconnect from it a little. Like the story idea she mentioned make a fictional character to play your antivision self; in whatever way you wish, doesn't have to be a written story. You can work out how they got there and how not to end up like them. You can reconnect with it after answering the questions. A cautionary tale for yourself. I was struggling but this helped, hope it helps someone else.
Ik you most probably you won't notice this but ma'am all I want to say is that you are such an amazing person and you're doing a great job. There are a lot more youtubers out there who are creating same content as you but you just give everything a new way to look at, the way you give solutions to all the problems no one else can. I love you so much thanks for helping me in everything I will always support you and you're the best 😊💓
What a fascinating approach - creating the opposite of your "vision board"! BRILLIANT!! Love these tips and congrats on the course on Skillshare! How amazing!!
I started my day today after watching this video and what can I say THANK YOU for sharing the tips. I certainly had the focus and felt more productive than usual. 😊
This is such a radical and amazing way to flip the script and look at things in a different way. Thanks for this muchelle. You're a gem. I absolutely love your content. Also I was so excited to hear you have your own skillshare course, I felt like a proud friend all excited for you when you shared the news.
I love the different perspective that the anti-vision gives! "What's the worst that could happen" is often a question used in therapy, but to think about what could happen based on your decisions is really helpful
It reminds me of the fizzy drink Dr Pepper advert "Dooctoor Pepper... What's the woorst that could happen?! 🎶" 😂 'Jingles' are designed to be catchy so that's how I remember it. Also could help with fear of unknown, if you what could happen you can plan to avoid it.
This is so great! I'm honestly always trying new things to get myself "re-motivated" but this is a way that I've never tried before! Ready to put this in motion during my next "motivation wall"!
This is a innovative way to shake things up. I do something similar at work but we go a step further and ask ourselves if there is anything on anti vision we are doing now? If you're really extra can put a percentage to how often you're taking anti vision steps during week. Great idea to apply to individual stuff 💜🥰
Two things: One - I love the Matilda references. Two - I cannot wait to take your class!!!! I just got SkillShare and I'm living for it! And I am so excited for your class!!! Sending love and light your way! 🧡
I try this exercise in February and in Italian someone calls it "come peggiorare"..."how to get worse". For me was really effective in the moment, but I think I need to revisit it. Thanks for the reminder ☺️
That's so exciting that you have a class on Skillshare! And I really like this exercise - I think realizing what we don't want is underrated and not talked about enough :- )
If anyone can teach us about productivity and self-love and growth it's you Michelle! Proud of you for putting yourself out there and creating a skillshare class. Should we start calling your Master Barnes or Ms Barnes now? 😂
Hi.Love your videos❣️ How can a person tell if they’re not motivated or just being lazy? I HOPE that your videos help me get motivated but I get depressed when I think that I’m just being lazy 😒
your videos and worksheets have helped me so much! I'm entering a new phase in my life, I'm trying to find the courage to move out and live on my own. If you have any tips, I would love a video on that! thank you
Love this idea. I kind of used to informally do this when I was being lazy about my university work. I used to think about the worse case scenario that could happen if I failed my degree 🤣
Small steps in the right direction are always better than running in the wrong direction! 💓 Ruts and roadblocks are always temporary. Whilst working through them slowly can seem frustrating and time-consuming, especially in this fast-paced instantaneous world, it can help us grow and truly fix the issue rather than having quick band-aid solution.
Have you thought of starting a Discord channel? I struggle to find people who are into goal setting and planning in real life. it would be really cool if everyone who watched your channel could have a place to discuss our goals or keep each other motivated on life admin days.
Reminds me of the fizzy drink Dr Pepper advert 😂 Great advice and so happy for you about your skillshare course! This could be good for people that don't like to do lists; or your in a slump. Could have a to not do list 😅
The queen is dropping some MAJOR LIFE LESSONS, again.
This is timely, for me.
With plenty of 'false starts', i am once again rallying to make progress.
Honestly this is just something I needed. I’ve been sooo demotivated and low. Thank you for the video 💜💜
You are fast. Goodluck btw!
If I feel demotivated, I watch muchelleb's videos and then keep working... Works like a charm!

checking in with my mission helps me every freaking time. anytime i start questioning things- i go back to my why 💙
I have never heard about motivating yourself this way and it really does sound life changing!! I am going to start doing it now! Thank you for this!!!

I’ve been creating anti-visions subconsciously which has motivated me to change some aspects in my life. Now I have a term for it!
