Imax is not sitting still either. My local imax switched from xenon to laser based projectors and a new revamped sound system. Luckily i have both a good dolby cinema and a good imax theater close to me so i switch them out occasionally. I like both
You lucky bastard lol I wish my imax here in Tempe az switched to laser system. We have a 60ft screen yet they still show digital films on it. It's like slapping movie lovers in the face.
But your right imax is stepping up with the laser projection and I believe their idea stems from dolbys laser projectors
Especially when a movie is shot in imax👌 dolby can't beat that

I personally enjoy Dolby Atmos Cinema than a IMAX. Don't get me wrong IMAX has a huge screen and sounds pretty decent, but the Dolby Atmos Cinema to me sounds better and you gotta love the reclining seats. At my IMAX they don't have reclining seats.
I went to AMC South Bay 12 in Dorchester.
The very first I went to see the movies (such as Rocketman and Shaft) in Dolby Cinema at AMC was months ago, back in May.
Dolby is going to stay that's one thing for sure when it comes to utmost listening experience.
I watched 3 movies in dolby cinemas. The 1st time I was amazed by the sound and picture quality..
But the other 2 times i felt some thing wrong.. My home theater was better than that.. and from that time I watched all the movies in I Max..

Nice to see my local Cinema featured on your channel. I live about 30 min south of Boston and I will not see the major released movies any other way. Dolby Cinema is a great experience.

Do you think the pb 3000 hits lower then the subs in the cimena?
Heh, good question 🤔
Peter Otremba I would be surprised if the subs in the Dolby Cinema extend below 25-30 hertz. However, they are designed to play extremely loud and hit hard since they have to fill such a large room. The tactile transducers in the seats do give you a sense that you are getting much lower extension from the subs but turn those off and I believe you will notice the lack of extension near 25-30hertz. So I believe your PB3000 extend lower but obviously cannot play as loud since they are designed to work in a smaller environment.
Peter Otremba the subs In Dolby cinema play extremely low and extremely loud. I was amazed how clear and loud it was when I saw The incredible and End Game.
yes sir They do play loud especially in the mid-bass. They also use butt Kickers to give a tactile sensation.
Now I would like to go to the cinema to experience it all! How much did you guys pay for a ticket?

Tha_VillaMan.. I hop hope you got a chance to see the film at a true IMAX theater. I seen both formats and in my opinion being that the movie was shot entirely with IMAX cameras, I preferred the IMAX version

This is old just watch it i seen stars wars the The Rise of skywalker on IMAX Laser and Dolby Vision theater in December in 24 hour period it was amazing. My one gripe is the Imax theater was a lieamax theater it had a small regional screen but the picture quality and sound made me forget real fast Laser should be in every imax threater it makes it worth paying the high price even with a small screen. I want to go see it again on laser in a true imax threater in san Francisco at AMC 8 stories tall 100 feet long laser and true imax 15/70 looks amazing on that huge screen.
That place would have been called AMC Dorchester 12, instead of AMC South Bay 12 because South Bay Center is in the Dorchester Center area, where I am.
Imax NEEDS to revamp and stop with all these smaller screens. We know imax means 60-70ft tall screens. Just like in 08 when they put dual digital projectors in all of the theatres they NEED to put the imax laser projectors in all of the theatres now. Also switch to comfortable seats. If not Dolby cinema is GOING TO TAKEOVER.
Great video, but gotta hold that microphone just a few inches from your mouth to get nice, crisp, clean audio, especially in a noisy environment.

Samsung is already doing exactly this with their Onyx cinema screens. Just installed another 14 meter screen in India.
I'm that guy that ask the theater if I can have a tour behind the curtain to see the speakers. If you have access to that, film and post. That would be awesome.

@@tHAvIlLaMaN LOL. I was allowed to look behind the screen once, but not allowed to adventure for safety reasons. I was able to see what looked like 4 15" subs on each side and 3 JBL (Orange Logo) PA speakers on a scaffolding structure as LCR facing the screen. I heard a while ago that most older theaters aren't true 5.1 due to the size of the room. I'd love to learn more on them, but they are secretive.

Alexander Scott You hit the nail on the head. I too think imax is more dynamic. I always feel like the highs in Dolby cinema is somewhat rolled off and bottom end somewhat anemic to IMAX. I also don’t really sense a big difference with Atmos vs imax speaker setup.
