Time to scrap the two-child benefit cap? Feat. Michael Walker & Esther K. | Storm Huntley

  • Labour rebels are said to be piling pressure on Starmer to reverse the Conservative policy, which critics have labelled 'cruel'.
    Introduced seven years ago, it stops parents from claiming universal credit or child tax credit for a third child.
    But new figures show that two in five large families are now being affected by the limit in the UK.
    So - with a fresh light being shone on child poverty rates, is it time the cap was scrapped?
    Or do you think that if someone can't afford to have more kids, then the government shouldn't be paying for it?

    Many families from abroad have 6 to 10 children, 3 especially African families, then they will be needing housing for all these children, plus free school.meals, health care, the list goes on.and on. Religious groups also tend to have 6 children in their families also. Most British families have 2 to 3 children. Also, many families from Poland come here have their children in U.K. then get child.benifit and go back to Europe to live in their country while living on the UK child benefit. So that needs addressing.

    Maybe they should be expected to pay some of the money back once their children are adults?

    I think that the two child cap should not change. If you want children it is a choice and maybe the more thought into having kids will stop people putting children into care and making them live a life of no hope for university or proper education because they will only have children they can afford and give the best life to.

    • @Anonymous-zg8vi

      Child safety and child poverty are the responsibility of the parents. It’s the parents choice to have children, it’s a parents responsibility to keep those children safe, fed and clothed, their responsibility to teach the children honesty, respect, humanity, this responsibility should not fall on anyone else or the Government and if adults man or woman cannot take this responsibility then they should not be having children. Having children is an honour not to be abused.

    • @CherryTree186
      @CherryTree186 25 дней назад

      This is the kind of mentality why people take advantage of the government. People are weak and expect people to pay for their kids.. if you care about kids, then don't have one for the sake of the future you put them into.
