    Thank you for putting this info out to everyone. Been watching your videos and think I'm going to build a 500x for my first build and go with the ikon as well. Currently using dx6 g2, hopefully it will do the job, if not will probably go with nx8. Again, thanks for helping alot of us rookies out🙂

      I waisted so much time not knowing how to build/set-up the helicopter…hope the videos help others enjoy the hobby and not have to deal with as much frustration as I did.

    My 550X started life with the supplied BeastX. That lasted about a day. I damaged bird during testing after accidentally changing unintended parameter using that blinky/blink nonsense.
    I then flew on an Ikon2 for most of a year. I really like their configuration tool, all the awesome logging features, and that it can do HobbyWing and Align ESC (most models) telemetry to s-bus encoding without any extra parts. It only requires an extra wire from the ESC back to the Ikon2.
    But now I'm flying the Futaba CGY760R. It is 100% inferior to the Ikon2 in every way, except how it feels in the air. (In my opinion) I guess I am also a fan of 2 boxes shrinking to 1 box and less wire. I wish Futaba would look at the Ikon/Brain tools and step their game way up. It does fly amazing, though.

      Ikon definitely nailed it with they’re software, I think any of todays FBLs with proper set-up will perform well…what sets Ikon apart is it’s ease of programing, no special cord, Bluetooth tuning and data logging…if your approach is “Keep it as simple as possible” Ikon is the one. And it helps I’ve had nothing but solid flight experiences with them! Thanks your thoughts and for tuning in!

      @@rcflightz2058 I have no "complaints" with how the Ikon flies. I fly in a clearing with tall trees surrounding. There is a lot of wind. This makes a lot of rotor and turbulence in my airspace. I don't know how, but the 760R largely compensates on its own. That's the difference. It really helps me fly smooth in choppy air.

    Thanks for this. It's exactly what I was looking for. I just finished converting an old 500 flybar into an FBL with an Ikon2. I got it hovering in the garage in a docile beginner mode and I wasn't sure if I should be running expo on my transmitter or not. But you answered that !!! So my "mode 1" is beginner setting without self level. I was surprised that the bird was NOT locked in well as I took it to a two foot Hover and tried to keep it stable. Nothing near as locked in and stable as my Blade 230S with it's "safe" mode turned on. So I powered the bird up in mode 1 and then before I spooled up, I switched to my "mode 2" which is just a copy of mode 1, but it has the self level box checked. WOW. I couldn't even get it off the ground. It just kept wanting to tip over. Any ideas on why the self level mode won't even let me get into a low hover?? Again this is in my garage with zero wind.

      My first guess would be how much air is moving in a small area. I would give a 500 more area…maybe a tennis or basketball quart. The expo is going reduce performance but I found good for getting oriented to a heli…keep the maneuvers basic and it should be fine, reduce expo over time to get full capability. Hope my video help, I’m no team pilot but I hope they help new builders and pilots find they’re own preferences. Thanks for checking out the Channel!

    how did you assign rescue to a switch? I cant figure it out on my NX9 on my Ikon2. like no switch activates rescue mode (mode 4)

    Really enjoyed your videos! I also fly the TREX 550X with a DX6 and IKON 2. I am not able to toggle the setup modes where they appear on pages 5, 11 and 13 etc. Setup 2 appears in all cases. I can select flight modes however. What have I missed??

      Thank you. I’m pretty sure you need more Chanel’s. You don’t have Chanel’s for flight styles and self-level/rescue...I had a DX6, I’ve had a DX9BE for 2 years now and I’m still 100% happy with it. Thanks for tuning in!

      I’m hooked on my DX9, does everything I need and more…haven’t got my hands on an NX so can’t say. But yes, 110% happy with my DX9. Thanks for tuning in!

      Absolutely right, DX9 is the tank of DX series and best of the best Bought the NX10 and 4 weeks later sold out with no hesitation, due to lack of quality and screen frozen 😢. Switch to Futuba 18SZ and quite happy with the quality.

    How are you able to program the throttle curve for stunt one in your tx? I thought the ikon takes care of all that.

    • @rcflightz2058
      @rcflightz2058  3 года назад

      There is a governor in the Ikon but I’m not using it, I’m using the governor in the speed control. Either way you would set the throttle curve in the remote and the governor just manages RPM. Thanks for tuning in!

    Building my first trex 650x, my question is do I use the receiver with the ikon2?

    • @rcflightz2058
      @rcflightz2058  3 года назад

      Yes. With 500+ size 2 receivers are recommended. Pop two satellites on and on page 2 of the programming check the bind box when ready to bind. Thanks for tuning in!
