The game seems to hype up the finals between the Besaid Aurochs and the Luca Goers, but what floors me is how Wakka managed to somehow beat the Al Bhed Psyches 3-2 with one forward at lvl 1 with 8 SH and Wakka, who has 13 SH and venom shot for a maximum of 16 SH vs Nimrook, with a base CA of 18. Somehow Wakka managed to score in an unfavorable matchup, 3 times, against Nimrook...
I've often thought this...apparently the Psyches main players were the ones who were kidnapping Yuna, so no good players were playing vs the Aurochs! It's a good theory, I like it.
@@DPhoenix237 I just paused the game to come back to this comment. On the airship for the first time, I spoke to Berrik and he PERSONALLY apologised for what he did in Luca. 'Forgive me for MY actions in Luca. We were just trying to protect the lady summoner.' Seems pretty safe to assume that if they had their best player, Berrik, out of the match then they were relying on the Aurochs to forfeit and therefor would have felt confident sending their goalie out of the match as well. :)
When you're right in front of the goal, shot vs catch doesn't seem to have much effect when they're close to equal. He had to have been close all three times.
A more interesting way to be "overpowered" in Blitzball is to use the first game in the tournament to get a bunch of overtimes. It was a slaughter of the Goers having Jumal in the goal. It was basically guaranteed they'd never MAKE a goal on me, while even though sometimes they got the blitzoff, it didn't take long to level up everyone, passing in the back line over and over. Thank you for the series! I am recording my own series following most of your "guide." I haven't finished the Luca Blitzball yet fully. I finished the tournament with 3 different people with 4 goals each, for 3 Return Spheres.

Forty five minutes on my Vita during a flight to Belfast I was in that one spot dodging, only to get distracted as we came in to land and screw up on (I think) 192. In hindsight shouting "MOTHERFUCKER" on a full flight wasn't the best move but I feel it was fully justified.
This video helped so much! My team was Tidus, Wedge, Zev, Jassu, Dotta, & Jumal. Wedge had 18 goals by the end of the League and my team's levels were between 8-10. I ended up getting the Teleport Sphere & 2 Return Spheres. 👍
That's brilliant! I love playing Blitzball in Luca; it's a little different than just wrecking people with Brother and Ropp later, and it breaks up the Blitzball for the Sigil later (if you don't mind resetting data for Status Reels later, or if it comes up already!).
I thought I would always hate blitzball and was dreading this, but you made it a lot easier, and I actually kind of had fun beating the al bhed team as my final match to close out the tournament and finish my grind. My advise for other is don't sleep on wedge. Man is an absolute beast.
True, the only one sleeping should be the Al Bhed goal keeper, also this mini game really gives a good reason for why Wakka hates the Al Bhed early on, Jesus Christ, 18 catch at starter level is way too broken for a goal keeper.
why when I did this I could not set jecth shot on tidus for the tournament?relized it was due to reseting the data had no clue it resets you back to lvl 1.
The combination of Wedge and Jumal is just amazing. First, most of the other teams players don't even have enough shooting score to score on Jumal at point blank range, and second, all I have to do is get the ball to Wedge and I've basically got a guaranteed point. His shooting score is just silly.
I’m doing this now. The league won’t give me a teleport sphere. It gives me 1st place Return and Top scorer Return. I have like 8 of them now. But not 1 teleport.

I'm getting going again on FFx after many years. I'm about at this point and after the frustrating Luca Goers first match, I'm debating doing it. Two times in a row they scored with less than 30 seconds left. I recall my method for blitzball in the old days and think it worked with 2 players - brother and naida (or as I see now, a leveled up datto). It essentially relied on their speed to go around the field and get everyone to follow them and get just out of range of the other team. Then pass to someone near goal and score. Combined with some of the players you mentioned, should be able to do it with Naida at about the same time, since you recruit her at the calm lands shop - at least I hope that's right. It was always so stress free. So with that plan, I'm thinking of tidus and wedge as forwards. Datto as mid fielder, basically to be close for nap shot and his endurance is descent if someone catches up to him. Naida and zalitz- on defense, and Jamal on goal. Later I'll replace wedge with brother because wedge's shot is great at level 1, but never gets much better. Anyway, I hope I'm remembering it somewhat right. I do remember another tip, use the mini map to move around instead of the main camera. The sudden camera movements will screw you up.
Yeah, Calm Lands is a lot later in the game; you've already been through Bikanel IIRC and can have signed Brother by then so it is late-game Blitzball then and there isn't any difficulty as Brothet and Ropp destroy EVERYONE when they're together. This video is for getting an Early-game Teleport Sphere and Return Spheres as part of my overpowered walkthrough; you can have First Strike with Tidus (or whoever) and the Ara spells with Yuna and annihilate everything from the Thunder Plains onward 😁
I'm guessing you don't do much boosting once you're able to use spheres to increase aeon stats, or at least it required many more spheres once you start? I am currently not doing any leveling or giving Yuna any stats, solely for the eventual boosting to be as quick as possible before building her.
I don’t understand how he’s recruiting people around Luca before going to the high road as my save portal doesn’t have blitzball until then and by then I can’t get back to Luca…anyone else know?
Is there anywhay to leave the tournament,? I sadly got pu against the al behd and now stuck at least at 5 round of draw. No one of us can make a goal. my goal catches any of their, and whenever I try to make a goal, their strongest and fastest player (who gets stronger with every round) always appears out of nowhere and makes a goal or pass pretty much impossible. I'm pretty much stuck their for hours and I don't want to restart everything all over again. Also tidus jecht shot is pretty much useless againt the al bhed goalkeeper and a lot of time I'm surronded by at least 3 enemies if I'm anywhere near the goal
Oof that's a little rough. You could lose that tournament, but the next one would not have Attack Reels as the prize. You could just lose the tournament, Reset Data for Blitzball to reset the prizes again, then re-sign all your players. One way to score vs Nimrook is to use Datto or Nedus (if you have them) to put Nimrook on sleep with Nap Shot and then get the ball back, shoot and score thet way.
@@DPhoenix237 Sorry for the long ass rant, blitzball is just soooo frustrating, but I... well I found out I had to win the league 10 times to get the telepot sphere and the return sphere. Wish any of the side I was looking for help would have somewhat mentioned that. Also got finally the attack reels as well, didn't realize it was a move for Wakka. well I'm just glad I finally managed to do it and can actually keep following your guide....I still hope I never have to touch blitzball again. I can somewhat see now the appeal for people towards this game, but for me it was just frustrating for the most part.
@@DPhoenix237 PS. I got freed from the constant draw when the albhed did actually managed to make a goal... ironicly this long on going draw game caused me to be somewhat overpowered compared to all the other teams, so in the end it had something good comming from it ^^;
Anytime up to the Inn after Macalania forest midgame, or lategame once you've got the Airship (but there are even better players available for some positions then!).
I followed this guide, got league and tournament rewards set up, but after I play one game in the league to level up, the tournament disappears when I go back to the blitzball menu. What am I doing wrong? Playing on the PS2.
Once the tournament is showing on the main screen, it can still dissappear if you go into and out of the Blitzball menu if you've not actually started thst tournament. You need to enter the tournament whilst it has the correct prizes to 'lock in' the tournament as it is. You have to either play the first game or get a bye so that the tournament is locked in and then you can play more league games if you want to.
You're not slow, it's annoyingly complicated! You want to reset data to lock in the League prizes first. Then save it. Then enter and exit the menu to get the tourney to come up. Attack Reelz should always the the first prize. If Top Scorer prize is Return Sphere, then save it and then play the first game of the tourney. This locks I'm the prize and the tournament. Then you can finish either the league or thr tournament...whichever you prefer. If the first tourney has Attack Reels and a different top scorer prize, soft reset the game and enter and exit the bb menu to see what the top scorer prize is, and repeat the soft reset/check prizes until it's Attack Reels + Return Sphere.
Just won the tournament. I didn't realize that I could play games in the league to level up, so I ended up somehow beating the Syks in the second game in triple overtime. The experience allowed me to absolutely body the Goers in the final match, which felt very good.
@@DPhoenix237 Finished the league! My last match was the Goers again, and I couldn't bear to forfeit so I just spent the entire game passing around them after putting Grav to sleep. Was it petty? Yes. But I have absolutely no regrets.
@@DPhoenix237 Ah, thank you. I was trying to go back after visiting the Inn and I think because of the chocobo monster it wasn't allowing me back but now it has after defeating him. On a side note, on the Highroad (on your first way up) when there's people running along it, there's one person in what's I believe an Al Bhed outfit who gives a lv.1 key sphere.
1:25 You sonnuva.... you have NO idea how RARE it is for Hi-Risk to show up as a League Prize. It's the ONLY way to learn it for Tidus and Wakka and apparently the chances of it showing up is 1/200 or something like that. At least it's not as bad as Anti-Drain. Hoo-whee...
Oh believe me, I FULLY know how rare it is for Hi-Risk to show up. I had a full level 99 team where both Wakka and Tidus had every skill other than Anti-Drain. If I'm making and levelling a Blitzball team properly, I always get the Sigil first and then reset data until Hi-Risk is the 2nd place league prize (which is the only way it can show up). The irony of the reset in the video was not lost on me.
Maybe the answer is obvious and out there somewhere, but...are teleport spheres even in the original ps2 version? I'm playing that one on an old fattie and have yet to see a tele sphere as the league prize. Thanks for anyone who knows.
Yeah, the PS2 version is identical in that respect. It's not a common prize, which is why I recommend repeatedly resetting the prizes so that it comes up before playing a league.

What are the best players for winning Wakkas reels? I really struggled with the Al Bhed Psychs. I had Jumal as my goalie and they never scored, but the game got prolonged 10 times before I managed to score with Tidus sphere shot, as Jecht shot was aways blocked by Nimrook. My team at the moment is Tidus and Wedge as forwards, Brother, Kyou, Jumal. The other teams are easy but the Al Bhed are a pain in the butt, I hate it when I’m against them in finals for tournaments. Because of them it took me forever to get just attack reels, and I still have the other three to go

@@DPhoenix237 Thanks! I managed to get all the Wakka reels, which took forever and my heart raced whenever I saw the psychs. I managed to use your trick with the sphere shot and luring the team away with brother, but it was luck based if it got a good score against Nimrook. Now is just the sigil, the league's are so long though.
I followed your directions and for some reason my team keeps moving around and I can't even put them on manual mode however I try. I guess I'll just wait for the teleport sphere this game getting me frustrated but I do love jumal as goalie. He really doesn't let the other team score. Oh well your tips are awesome though but I seem to fuck up 😂 I'll just farm levels and stuff. I'm on the switch BTW and some of it is pertinent to the switch but could be some different things.
@@DPhoenix237 yeah I'm able to do it against the luca goers the same way, but idk I could be doing something wrong because it won't let me during the tournament stuff. I got so frustrated at blitz ball that I just gave up. But I did make lulu really strong so I'm ok with having just lulu for now and will make yuna black mage later when teleport spheres drop later in the game. I'm just farming for ap and levels for now. I did get khimari to use steal and use abilities though even though I did kill the chocobo eater. Somehow I got 3 level 1 key spheres after using the first two I got for khimari. I will still use your walkthroughs though because they are amazing. I only use the parts where I'm capable. And I still get Overkills with lulu and tidus. Sometimes auron and waka. I did fuck up in the beginning to get tidus his overdrive during the boat scene cause I forgot to switch his overdrive modes but I farmed mi'hen til I got more gil and eventually got his overdrive mode. But thanks for the walkthroughs!!

No I don't think so, as soon as I got to the Save Sphere on the Mi'ihen Highroad I could sign players etc. I didn't try resetting the pries before that. Have you tried going to the save sphere on the Highroad first?
Hmmmm watch my video on how to beat the Goers in the first match. It has a lot of the techniques that I use to manipulate the opponents and score, and with these players in THIS video it should be mega easy.
Yeah, so if you get the league prizes set first with the Teleport and Return Spheres, then save it. Then get the Tournament prize up as Attack Reels with Return Spheres as the top scorer, and save it again. The important thing to note though is that if you go in and out of the Blitzball menu without starting the tournament then the prizes for the tournament aren't locked in yet and can disappear. So after you've saved it with all the league and tournament prizes locked in, don't save it again until you've actually started the tournament.
Followed your player strat, scored 4 goals with both forwards. And lost the most goals to Argai Ronso with 5 goals!! WTF?!?! Haha. Good thing I saved first.
@@TheDrizzNizzle Yeah, that's pretty damn unlucky! 5 is the most I've ever seen a CPU Top scorer have for a tournament and it's rare. I've won 3 Return Spheres whilst having 3 top scorers only score 3 goals each before now!
Just discovered that if you manage to score 3 goals to 0 before 3 minutes in second time, there are extra lines and Wakka enters the field before its time. In your face Goers hahaha.
when i say i wasnt expecting a league to take me 3 hours to beat i mean it, i started one at 9pm and got done at 12am and i was tempted to leave it halfway but decided to finish it wakka dosent deseve any of my pain and suffering so i will most likey not be obtaining his celiestial weapon lol
3 hours is a lonnggggg time for a league though ngl. Usually they're close to 1.5 hours; two leagues and 2 tourneys for Wakkas ODs and Sigil typically takes about 3.5 to 4 hours 👍
I just got to the highroad but I'm kind of concerned about not having enough money to scout...is there a point of no return where you can't get back easily?
It sort of depends what you call 'easy'. You can backtrack to Luca at any point up to Macalania. After the Macalania inn, you can't backtrack. The further you go, the longer it takes to backtrack. If you want to try it much cheaper, you can just sign Zev (and maybe Jumal) and play with Tidus/Zev/Botta/Jassu/Keepa. It is doable; Botta and Jassu are decent once they get a few techs and levels. You can either use Datto at forward and Zev at MF, or play Zev at Forward and Letty at MF. It'll be more difficult, but still eminently achievable. Maybe save first, then try it? Another options is to just reset to get the prizes set (tele sphere/Return Sphere) and then sign everyone for one 1 game. Then play later on, when you reach Thunder Plains or somewhere and have more money.
There's some differences I'm getting playing the ps2 version. For the reward in the first blitzball game I never get a strength sphere just a potion or a phoenix down. And when I reset the team data the prizes for the league never change until I reset and return the load save screen.
Are you playing on an emulator or an actual PS2? On an actual PS2 it'll be exactly the same; the HD remaster are exactly; remastered, not remade. They haven't changed anything, and the Blitzball prize for the compulsory story game is always a Strength Sphere, and resetting the Blitzball data changes the prizes immediately. You can check it out on RUclips videos from 10 years ago which are done on the original PS2 version 👍
Is attack reels really worth it? And if im struggling if i saved after the first match can i run a tournament to get some levels and come back to the same league?
You get Attack Reels from a Tournament (2-3 games) not a league (10 games). But yeah, if you've started a tournament where Attack Reels is the prize - and hopefully Return Spheres are the Top Scorer prize - you can play a few league games to level up your players. And yes, Attack Reels is one of the strongest attacks in the game if you can nail 12 hits consistently. Especially if you get the +4 Strength from Blitzball and the +12 from dodging 50 bolts, it's insane.
Yeah, he's absurdly good. He's also expensive though, and not necessary if using this team because Zev plus either Wedge or Shaami dominates to the point that the Aurochs defenders and Jumal are enough. It's all good...I'm never, ever going to say that having Ropp is a bad idea. He's awesome!
Pretty much, yup. I stop using Lulu entirely once I get the Aras for Yuna. You could even go further by using a level 2 key Sphere with Waka to break into Lulu's grid right after Spherimorph. Yuna can then teleport to the Agas instead, which is broken AF.
Played the game yesterday with my son fucking Psyches forced 3 overtimes before I could beat them. Bastards made me work for that Attack Reels overdrive.
I dont really see a need to hire random players, I have always used the default Aurochs team and they are great. I have won all tournaments and leagues so far
That's good! They're alright, and some of the Aurochs are decent if they learn some techs and level up, but there are much better players available if needed.
The NEED isn't there, but it makes things easier early on. The Aurochs get great stats with levels but until they level, other players are much more useful. They're really just a convenience sorta thing, like yunas first weapon from the destruction sphere in Besaid; Completely unnecessary but still nice to get :)
@@DPhoenix237 it just says how to win them in Luca, and unless you spend hours a day grinding that hard, you really don’t need them. They come in handy when you start unlocking other parts of the sphere grid and travel around
@RejectedSpiritX This was part of my How to Be OP walkthrough. If you wanted to use Standard Sphere Grid to get BHPL 99K at the end of the game (unnecessary and overkill, but some people like that stuff as perfectionists etc) then this lets Yuna get the Aras and be hella strong. Expert grid is better imho as she can just do that anyway, but there are fewer Sphere nodes overall on the Expert grid overall.
Really wish he would have mentioned more clearly that you need to do the reset first before you start hiring players 🤦🏻, reset afterwards and lost all the players I’d signed…10,000 gil I grinded for and lost it all…then had to settle for less players…🤮

You go the Highroad first, get the notification about signing Blitzball players, then go back to Luca.

Oof that's a little rough. You could lose that tournament, but the next one would not have Attack Reels as the prize. You could just lose the tournament, Reset Data for Blitzball to reset the prizes again, then re-sign all your players.
One way to score vs Nimrook is to use Datto or Nedus (if you have them) to put Nimrook on sleep with Nap Shot and then get the ball back, shoot and score thet way.
@@DPhoenix237 Sorry for the long ass rant, blitzball is just soooo frustrating, but I... well I found out I had to win the league 10 times to get the telepot sphere and the return sphere. Wish any of the side I was looking for help would have somewhat mentioned that. Also got finally the attack reels as well, didn't realize it was a move for Wakka. well I'm just glad I finally managed to do it and can actually keep following your guide....I still hope I never have to touch blitzball again. I can somewhat see now the appeal for people towards this game, but for me it was just frustrating for the most part.
@@DPhoenix237 PS. I got freed from the constant draw when the albhed did actually managed to make a goal... ironicly this long on going draw game caused me to be somewhat overpowered compared to all the other teams, so in the end it had something good comming from it ^^;

I followed this guide, got league and tournament rewards set up, but after I play one game in the league to level up, the tournament disappears when I go back to the blitzball menu. What am I doing wrong? Playing on the PS2.
Once the tournament is showing on the main screen, it can still dissappear if you go into and out of the Blitzball menu if you've not actually started thst tournament. You need to enter the tournament whilst it has the correct prizes to 'lock in' the tournament as it is. You have to either play the first game or get a bye so that the tournament is locked in and then you can play more league games if you want to.

You're not slow, it's annoyingly complicated!
You want to reset data to lock in the League prizes first.
Then save it. Then enter and exit the menu to get the tourney to come up. Attack Reelz should always the the first prize. If Top Scorer prize is Return Sphere, then save it and then play the first game of the tourney. This locks I'm the prize and the tournament. Then you can finish either the league or thr tournament...whichever you prefer.
If the first tourney has Attack Reels and a different top scorer prize, soft reset the game and enter and exit the bb menu to see what the top scorer prize is, and repeat the soft reset/check prizes until it's Attack Reels + Return Sphere.
Just won the tournament. I didn't realize that I could play games in the league to level up, so I ended up somehow beating the Syks in the second game in triple overtime. The experience allowed me to absolutely body the Goers in the final match, which felt very good.

This is right after the story match, so you're already right there. You just walk back from Highroad into luca.
@@DPhoenix237 Ah, thank you. I was trying to go back after visiting the Inn and I think because of the chocobo monster it wasn't allowing me back but now it has after defeating him.
On a side note, on the Highroad (on your first way up) when there's people running along it, there's one person in what's I believe an Al Bhed outfit who gives a lv.1 key sphere.
1:25 You sonnuva.... you have NO idea how RARE it is for Hi-Risk to show up as a League Prize. It's the ONLY way to learn it for Tidus and Wakka and apparently the chances of it showing up is 1/200 or something like that.

I had a full level 99 team where both Wakka and Tidus had every skill other than Anti-Drain. If I'm making and levelling a Blitzball team properly, I always get the Sigil first and then reset data until Hi-Risk is the 2nd place league prize (which is the only way it can show up). The irony of the reset in the video was not lost on me.
Maybe the answer is obvious and out there somewhere, but...are teleport spheres even in the original ps2 version? I'm playing that one on an old fattie and have yet to see a tele sphere as the league prize. Thanks for anyone who knows.
Yeah, the PS2 version is identical in that respect. It's not a common prize, which is why I recommend repeatedly resetting the prizes so that it comes up before playing a league.

What are the best players for winning Wakkas reels? I really struggled with the Al Bhed Psychs. I had Jumal as my goalie and they never scored, but the game got prolonged 10 times before I managed to score with Tidus sphere shot, as Jecht shot was aways blocked by Nimrook. My team at the moment is Tidus and Wedge as forwards, Brother, Kyou, Jumal. The other teams are easy but the Al Bhed are a pain in the butt, I hate it when I’m against them in finals for tournaments. Because of them it took me forever to get just attack reels, and I still have the other three to go

@@DPhoenix237 Thanks! I managed to get all the Wakka reels, which took forever and my heart raced whenever I saw the psychs. I managed to use your trick with the sphere shot and luring the team away with brother, but it was luck based if it got a good score against Nimrook. Now is just the sigil, the league's are so long though.
I followed your directions and for some reason my team keeps moving around and I can't even put them on manual mode however I try. I guess I'll just wait for the teleport sphere this game getting me frustrated but I do love jumal as goalie. He really doesn't let the other team score. Oh well your tips are awesome though but I seem to fuck up 😂 I'll just farm levels and stuff. I'm on the switch BTW and some of it is pertinent to the switch but could be some different things.

I got so frustrated at blitz ball that I just gave up. But I did make lulu really strong so I'm ok with having just lulu for now and will make yuna black mage later when teleport spheres drop later in the game. I'm just farming for ap and levels for now. I did get khimari to use steal and use abilities though even though I did kill the chocobo eater. Somehow I got 3 level 1 key spheres after using the first two I got for khimari. I will still use your walkthroughs though because they are amazing. I only use the parts where I'm capable. And I still get Overkills with lulu and tidus. Sometimes auron and waka. I did fuck up in the beginning to get tidus his overdrive during the boat scene cause I forgot to switch his overdrive modes but I farmed mi'hen til I got more gil and eventually got his overdrive mode. No I don't think so, as soon as I got to the Save Sphere on the Mi'ihen Highroad I could sign players etc. I didn't try resetting the pries before that. Have you tried going to the save sphere on the Highroad first?

Hmmmm watch my video on how to beat the Goers in the first match. It has a lot of the techniques that I use to manipulate the opponents and score, and with these players in THIS video it should be mega easy.
So can you save the game after getting the league and tournament prizes set up? Or will they reset upon reloading the game if you fail either?
Yeah, so if you get the league prizes set first with the Teleport and Return Spheres, then save it.
Then get the Tournament prize up as Attack Reels with Return Spheres as the top scorer, and save it again.
The important thing to note though is that if you go in and out of the Blitzball menu without starting the tournament then the prizes for the tournament aren't locked in yet and can disappear. So after you've saved it with all the league and tournament prizes locked in, don't save it again until you've actually started the tournament.

Just discovered that if you manage to score 3 goals to 0 before 3 minutes in second time, there are extra lines and Wakka enters the field before its time. In your face Goers hahaha.

Nah, he's terrible for ages and ages. He get 99 Shot at lvl 99, but even then he's not actually good because his other stats are mid.

3 hours is a lonnggggg time for a league though ngl. Usually they're close to 1.5 hours; two leagues and 2 tourneys for Wakkas ODs and Sigil typically takes about 3.5 to 4 hours 👍
I just got to the highroad but I'm kind of concerned about not having enough money to scout...is there a point of no return where you can't get back easily?
It sort of depends what you call 'easy'. You can backtrack to Luca at any point up to Macalania. After the Macalania inn, you can't backtrack. The further you go, the longer it takes to backtrack.
If you want to try it much cheaper, you can just sign Zev (and maybe Jumal) and play with Tidus/Zev/Botta/Jassu/Keepa.
It is doable; Botta and Jassu are decent once they get a few techs and levels. You can either use Datto at forward and Zev at MF, or play Zev at Forward and Letty at MF. It'll be more difficult, but still eminently achievable. Maybe save first, then try it?
Another options is to just reset to get the prizes set (tele sphere/Return Sphere) and then sign everyone for one 1 game. Then play later on, when you reach Thunder Plains or somewhere and have more money.

There's some differences I'm getting playing the ps2 version. For the reward in the first blitzball game I never get a strength sphere just a potion or a phoenix down. And when I reset the team data the prizes for the league never change until I reset and return the load save screen.
Are you playing on an emulator or an actual PS2?
On an actual PS2 it'll be exactly the same; the HD remaster are exactly; remastered, not remade. They haven't changed anything, and the Blitzball prize for the compulsory story game is always a Strength Sphere, and resetting the Blitzball data changes the prizes immediately. You can check it out on RUclips videos from 10 years ago which are done on the original PS2 version 👍

Is attack reels really worth it? And if im struggling if i saved after the first match can i run a tournament to get some levels and come back to the same league?
You get Attack Reels from a Tournament (2-3 games) not a league (10 games). But yeah, if you've started a tournament where Attack Reels is the prize - and hopefully Return Spheres are the Top Scorer prize - you can play a few league games to level up your players.
And yes, Attack Reels is one of the strongest attacks in the game if you can nail 12 hits consistently. Especially if you get the +4 Strength from Blitzball and the +12 from dodging 50 bolts, it's insane.

Yeah, he's absurdly good. He's also expensive though, and not necessary if using this team because Zev plus either Wedge or Shaami dominates to the point that the Aurochs defenders and Jumal are enough. It's all good...I'm never, ever going to say that having Ropp is a bad idea. He's awesome!

Pretty much, yup. I stop using Lulu entirely once I get the Aras for Yuna.
You could even go further by using a level 2 key Sphere with Waka to break into Lulu's grid right after Spherimorph. Yuna can then teleport to the Agas instead, which is broken AF.
Even more if you can, and you should, teach Yuna double cast. I never multiclass then until they finish their paths however.
Played the game yesterday with my son fucking Psyches forced 3 overtimes before I could beat them. Bastards made me work for that Attack Reels overdrive.

I dont really see a need to hire random players, I have always used the default Aurochs team and they are great. I have won all tournaments and leagues so far
That's good! They're alright, and some of the Aurochs are decent if they learn some techs and level up, but there are much better players available if needed.
The NEED isn't there, but it makes things easier early on. The Aurochs get great stats with levels but until they level, other players are much more useful.
They're really just a convenience sorta thing, like yunas first weapon from the destruction sphere in Besaid; Completely unnecessary but still nice to get :)

@RejectedSpiritX This was part of my How to Be OP walkthrough. If you wanted to use Standard Sphere Grid to get BHPL 99K at the end of the game (unnecessary and overkill, but some people like that stuff as perfectionists etc) then this lets Yuna get the Aras and be hella strong.
Expert grid is better imho as she can just do that anyway, but there are fewer Sphere nodes overall on the Expert grid overall.
