SO stoked to have a first comment. Dex, I just wanted to thank you for all your videos! I live out in the middle of the stix in BC Canada and any time I need to fix my jeep im on my own. Your videos have helped me immensely!
You’re the man Dex, people need to recognize! I don’t know how you don’t have bigger following. I could watch videos of you working and tinkering all day. Keep it up love the content
I did this a few years ago. But I've got a switch on my dash to kick the air compressor on and off and I have a 10 gallon air tank under the truck against my frame rail. I live mine. With my tank full I can fill up my 35" quick
I flinched as soon as I saw your impact socket start to loosen the hose on the XJ compressor. I had a coworker at Honda undo the line with a fully charged system, he forgot he recharged it the day before and POW!! there was green leak dye and oil all over the corner of the shop and he just had this neon green slime all over him😂. Sounded like a potato gun when it blew
Love the Chanel thought I'd give some advice as I think I probably have the most experience converting these lol. Don't oil it ever just have clean air. The sandan 707(xj) is preferred over the conventional type. The vw vans from the 80s-2000 had the bigger 255cc version. Xj is 154cc. All need to be opened and a hole needs closing so you don't pressurize the crankcase and loose your lube. I recommend high temp grease for lube. And that's it you can rev them to 5000rpm so don't worry about that. I have a body shop and my compressor is actually two xj accs feeding one vw acc through some coolers and into a 250gal system. Runs my paint booth just fine along with whoevers in the shop using a da or whatever. My mobile rig to paint at car lots is actually a xj 😂 because of this compressor and i have clean dry air at all times and it keeps up with my clear gun at 2250 rpm high idle. I use a relay and hobs switch for the clutch and keeping pressures safe but I run 90psi regulated out from the tank and the compressor runs from >100-140 psi. Iv been using these for many years like this and I have yet to need a new one in either. The shop compressor turns on at >120-175psi so don't worry about the pressure much just be sure to block that hole well so you don't blow your grease out and cook it. Or worse explode the crankcase as it's the weakest part by far. Yrs ago I did my first and for a home gamer compressor one xj pump and one recycled 1/3hp motor works really well for the power.
Dex, The one thing ONLY ONE, about some videos you have made. There have been times you are explaining some point and something like an engine or air compressor running, drowns out your voice. I'm not really complaining, just giving you feedback that may help your content be listener friendly & possibly gain more subscribers🎯😎☕ I greatly appreciate all the time and energy you put into your videos😎 Oh, I have shared/linkposted, some of your videos. It may get a subscriber or two ...😁
I've got a 4 tire system I built for the xj to air up and air down, at 1800 rpms the air compressor will take 4 35x12.50x15 tires from no air to 30psi in 3 minutes just timed it last weekend, my system isn't much more complicated but I did incorporate a pressure switch to kick the pump off around 120 psi makes me feel a little safer lol
@contraband1543 basically, if I could afford a central tire inflation system I wouldn't be running an xj lmao, but yeah I tie all four tires together while inflating or deflating
Heya! I've been wanting to do this for quite some time, and as much as my jeep is a trail rig, I also want it to look nice. Im planning on doing this conversion, but using my 2x6 sliders as an air tank, and having the ac compressor kick on via the factory ac switch on the dash. I was curious if you plan on coming back to this idea, and making a video of the most legit way a person could convert their ac, with pressure switch, in line oiler and guage etc. Love the content, best informative jeep page on the platform!
Can you please make a video of XJ build with two alternators and ac and air compressor? Would you need some special double-wide pulley to get another belt in the engine bay for the additions?

Honestly hooking it up to the PCV for the intake sounds like a pretty good idea
Free Lube!

I enjoy all your videos I have 3 xjs all for different purposes and I learn something new every time I watch your videos
The video I've been waiting for! Great video my man!

The old ford AC pumps were the best to use and you could actually use it as a air compressor and add a tank.

Im guessing you have 4 air hoses and not just a switch on the dash that you can air up from inside right

@@charlesmorgan490 Hey man that's still cool
This idea is nothing new but it is with this type of compressor. Did I miss how your oiling the compressor?
Love your videos and ideas...!!!!!
Been Waiting for this video!!! Love the vids dex
have you ever used a york compressor that is what i am planning on doing
I found it thank u and that why I couldn't find it was looking for it before it was out

Awesome bro how do I hook a tank to it and mount a small tank in the resr
"Dexter's Laboratory!"
Pretty dang cool!
Leave the original A/C compressor for the normal function and mount a old but working compressor with it as well to air up tires
Bro please upload more you are the shit
I have the new dewalt jumpbox/tire inflater and man its slow compared to this
If the AC in my project doesn't work , i will do this for awhile!
Have you ever found or seen a factory 5spd zj?
That blue radiator on the left - what is that?
Massive Tranmission cooler!!
“Just to offend someone” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Make xj great again.
The fuck 12 on the dash lol
😂 I didn’t write it!!
Thanks D
Pretty dang cool!
