I thought it was good value for some nice minis, but I like this game! I'm not usually into chess, but the terrain and the blind tactics really make for some interesting choices!
This game looks fun and relaxing. The adding of the dice takes the absolute strategic element out of the game which makes it relaxing. I like these games as a break away from the heavy thinking required in other non-luck games. It is very appealing to the eyes and the potential is huge. I think you could make it a 2 player game by controlling opposite sides and you wouldn't need 4 players if a friend didnt show up.
Yes, I agree. Games with dice are also very strategic, but not as demanding in absolute calculations. Not so merciless against the imperfect player.
Yes, this would make a very good 2-player game too.
I'm especially fond of the pieces -- they put so much thought into designing the 4 different groups!
One day if I have extra money for my board game hobby and or acquire 3 other friends I'll need to pick this up!
Yeah, I know, that can take a while. Even if you have 3 friends, getting them all together in one place with their attention focused on a board game ... well ...would be hard for me anyway. Good luck in getting your game on!
This game looks really awesome! =D
Huh nice
What if both the attacker and defender get the same number
A tie score in the roll of dice goes to the defender. The attacker must do better to prevail
Good explanation, good video. Thank god Mantic sells the pieces stand alone in sets. I'm giving this game a miss, love the pieces though.
Fnordathoth I hate the idea of dices in chess... It is just so wrong
I just want the rules. The sample rules available don't cover everything.
jezz2k Thanks for the message. I was able to find these rules online. It says it's an 'early draft' of the rules so it may not be current. I'm sorry, I don't have my own downloadable rules for this one, only physical pamphlets that come with the game. www.manticgames.com/SiteData/Root/File/LOKA%20rules%20WIP.pdf
AncientChess Thanks. I was able to find the complete rules by entering some text, in quotes, from the printed version you held up to the camera:
delphi.atmos.colostate.edu/miniatures/loka/background/LokaRules.pdf
The site seems too slow to handle the pdf in a browser, so you'lll probably need to download it to your desktop.
jezz2k Hey thanks a lot -- good searching!
