What is a Database?
A database is an organized collection of data, generally stored and accessed electronically from a computer system. Capture your visitors' data using user input elements and build custom forms to store the information in a Database Collection. Wix has a variety of user input elements for you to choose from, depending on the type of information you want to capture or display.

P.S. - Are you trying to use wix forms or creating a form yourself? If the ladder you can create a form that has triggers to bring up different prices that will change based on selection of data. All you need is to create a event handler that listens for visitors selection and then query the selection for a particular price(s) to show. Let me know if this is what you were referring to.
Great video, thanks. I am trying to setup a 'I'm interested in this' button on a dynamic page. For example, we sell cars. The car listings are a dynamic page connected to a dataset. We need a button on the listing to open up a contact form that automatically references that listing. Is this possible? Wordpress can do it...
Hey T.I.N.30, thanks for your comment and yes this is possible. All you need to do is creat some coding that will reax the car listing data or just get the ID of the listing to put it with your contact database. Then place that ID into the contact form by using a JSON or just a single string of the ID. You can then use that ID on the backend for you all to see the reference (you can always code it to show the reference item since you have the ID you can look up.) Hi there! This is a great video. I'm running into a problem. Everything works fine however I'm not getting the data from a form submission imported into the database. Any idea as to why? All of my fields are correctly connected to my data set. None of the data is appearing in the data set. I've adjusted settings to be write-only and everyone from the site is allowed to read.
Hey, thanks for commenting! I see you are in a little pickle. Did you set up your submission element? Sometimes the submission element isn't connected. Also, it could be the database settings that is not available for anyone to write to it. So not only do you have to set up your database element on the page but also you have to remember to check your database settings. Let me know if you have any more questions or comments. Hi, I created a subscription form on my website and this form is shared in an in an external client's website (not WIx). I need to get some client's data to automatically fill the field of my form . I have a list of data to grab and I thought about doing this with fetch or get but I'm not sure how to do this. Can you help?
Hi, nice video, however is there a way for us to create a from that can validate data from a table before submitting. eg. a whitelisting of email ids etc. for that specific page.
Hey, thanks for commenting. I understand your challenge and this is definitely possible to achieve. You can easily set up a hook on entry (add before hook on database for the form) to search a database with emails, ids, etc. (Another database that has this information) to check. Then you return true or false in the end if all of the criteria is met. This then accepts or denies information being saved in the database. Let me know if this answers your question. How do you make it even deeper?
I made a form. And then I need to make a drop down list from another database and select an item from it into the form.
For example select the state: *Florida* and then in another list *Orlando*.
I can select a state and get a filtered list, but to select from the filter/repeater and enter into the form (Orlando) is not possible.
How can I do it?
Hey, thanks for commenting! Yes so you have many options to choose from but I will share two ways. Either you use Reference fields and create code to pull in information based on the selection or you create an array field and drop the id's in that field for reference. Hey Cal, thanks for commenting! I will say that they way you would do this is in your front end code. Example code below will show what you may have to do:
$w("#inputElementId").required = 'true'; // or use 'false' - You can use either/or for all your inputs that you want to be mandatory

Thanks so much for your video! I am creating a Wix site for a custom product and cannot figure out for the life of me how to add an interactive quiz similar to Harry's or Warby parker, where then the answers carry over to the product page.
If this is not possible, how would you customize the product page to include a pop up or sophisticated/interactive customization that carrys over to the checkout page when the customer clicks the add to cart button. Please help

how do i create search which contains more than 3500 results(cities,villages,towns) etc. ? i want it to be dropdown menu( so user can click ,dropdown menu will appear and he then will have choice to actually choose one of the cities ? i am stuck (

How do i show that data now on a web page
*BIG QUESTION* I am STILL working on a database driven web site ( it is not a Members website nor subscription service ) Customer will come enter data into a DATA FORM and before the data can be submitted into the DATA BASE they must make a payment for that service and they go to my paypal payment ONCE PAYMENT IS CONFIRMED THEN THE DATA IS SUBMITED INTO THE DATA BASE . Is this Yet Possible with WIX or are we still years more down the road before WIX will allow such a process for Business owners to utilize ?????
Hi William, thanks for commenting, I would say yes this is definitely possible. You have to use Wix-Pay API in order to link your form to paypal (thru the Accept Payments in your wix dashboard settings) and once that is set up. Then you can get the set up to wait for the user to submit the payment and then it will reroute them back to the page for the information to save in the dataset. So basically you have to write code for your form. Or just create a wix form and pay for the service to have it added on your site. Let me know your thoughts on it. I hope this helps. Hello, When connecting the field to data, and previewing it, it doesn't let me type in the input field. But when preview without connecting to data, then i can write in the input field. Can you tell me what's the problem please?
Hey, thanks for commenting! So based on what you have shared I think that it might be a problem with your connection settings. Check to make sure that you have " read/write " or " write " permissions for the element settings and inside your database/collection settings. Wait wait, supercool.. but, once someone create a profile, how can he/she modify it in case the day after they want to change their name or email for instance?
Hey Kirlian, this can be possible by capturing the subscribers information upon submission of the form. Then create a triggering email sent out to them so they can have the option to change or update their information on a separate page. Hope this answers your question. Hey thanks for commenting, the way to do this is to add a text element to your site. You want to also add your dataset to the page. Then click on the text to have the element menu show up. Click on the connect to dataset and then you will be able to choose from the list of field names. Select the field name you want, in this case it is the owner id.
