  • Good settled weather on the 2nd December 2012 for some early season Scottish winter climbing.
Despite following me up some hard routes and leading Grade 5 ice, I hadn't realised that Fi wasn't sure how I'd happily got up some of the trickier mixed routes we'd done in the past! For some strange reason I can remember the gear and my exact moves (including angle and force) on a rock and ice climb, yet I cannot remember peoples names or what I did yesterday!
We had good belays and plenty of time so it was a great opportunity for some move by move coaching in mixed climbing!
It was also a great chance for me to play with my weatherproof Lumix DMC FT4 camera set on full 1920 x1080 HD video!

The gloves are actually ME Randonee gloves which have a warm berber pile lining & quite warm. I find that most so called expensive climbing gloves fall apart within a week or two and very clumsy. The Randonees are OK for the approach and easy snow ice but lack dexterity. I actually use Skyetec Argon or Ninja work gloves costing £5.00 for the climbing & ropework as they are far more dexterous and more robust!
