I think I finally figured it out! The pitchfork kids are "the cool/popular kids" that often turn everyone against those that don't fit in. (Way back the odd ones would get chased out of town by people with pitchforks). By saying they're "not the pitchfork kids" they're saying they aren't the cool/popular kids.
Pitchfork was an old streaming service and AJR was known for doing sad lovey-dovey songs back then, so Pitchfork offered them a bunch money or whatever to keep making music like that, but exclusively for the Pitchfork service. So, in retaliation, AJR made this song, as a huge middle finger to Pitchfork.
